Great place. Lived it

Neil G (St Austell, United Kingdom) on Apr 09, 2024

Its great. We liked the more expensive royal suites looking west into the bay. Even amongst those the rooms are better views and access to bars and great dockside restaurant and bar plus great up in the trees coffee bar. The best views and restaurant and calmest water is there. The cheaper rooms on the east side looked good too but windier and wavier there. Also further to get to the great mamora bay beach. They are refurbishing royal suites and actually - the best views are the northernmost royal suite blocks. DEF worth getting those particular rooms if you can. Food in the site is 4 star but large buffet choice in main restaurant and dockside. Always somethings u will like inc big fish choice. If u dont like meat or fish it may not be the place for you. Anyway drinks great. Breakfast superb. All inclusive. Sun goes down behind low hills but the place is beautiful at sunset but go to the marmora bay beach :) docksider restaurant beautiful. Whole place beautiful. Water calm. Not amazing snorkelling but much better at lots of nearby locations and most taxis just 10-20 dollars. All fares regulated and the same whoever u book Loved it.

A wonderful 10 days at the Royal Suites, St. James Club!

JonathanG2669 on Apr 09, 2024

St. James Club is as close to perfect as an all-inclusive resort can be. We stayed in the royal suite area and our room was beautiful! It was great to have our own service counter, Lorraine was so helpful. It is the staff at a resort that can really make your experience memorable and this was the case at St. James. Everyone was quick to say Good Morning or Good Afternoon (or "are you ok?"), and to ask if everything was going well. We want to mention how hard working the staff are and to especially mention how professional and friendly Louella and Kesha were at the Coco Restaurant. The tuna salad at the Eleven to Eleven was the best! It was fun to watch the fresh fish come in to the wharf on the Fish Tales every morning, and Shaquille was a wealth of knowledge not only about the fish but about the whole resort! Our favorite activity was sailing on the Hobie Cat everyday. Linda does an awesome job at the water sports hut, and we want to especially thank Ken and Owen for helping to make our days so much fun. We only left the resort twice in the ten days we were there: once to go to Shirley Heights for the Sunday night bbq which was AWESOME, and we did the Sunset Cruise with Captain Kelly which was so memorable. We had previously been to Antigua a few years ago, stayed at the Pineapple. It was a fabulous vacation!

Chill, relaxed caribbean vibe, with great facilities, views and staff

Claire S on Apr 09, 2024

St James is a relaxed resort, on a peninsula, so has the advantage of great Beaches. Wathersports all provided with our all inclusive deal on the calmer beach, very safe and sheltered. Tje beach staff were very helpful and accommoding. Our sea view room was bright, 2 windows, and had a lively sized balcony. The food was delicious, we especially lived the breakfasts, with an amazing choice of freshly prepared omelette and smoothies. Would definitely return and would recommend this resort highly.

Disappointed ??

Elizabeth M on Apr 04, 2024

St James is a beautiful resort & I was so excited to return after 10years since my last visit & now with my own children. We was celebrating my mums 60th birthday & 10year wedding anniversary (she married at st James on my last visit) we brought along 20 family & friends telling them how great the hotel was as I remembered how lovely, jolly, smiling & helpful the staff where back then BUT this time it was VERY different!! Staff are miserable & some rude, in fact there was one member of staff working on reception, her name was Nekeise & she was I could only describe as vile! Rudest woman with a very bad attitude & should definitely not be on a hotel reception! I would like the handful of nice staff to be recognised though so I took note of a few of there names & photos of a few that made our stay better. Amie was the highlight for our group what a lovely young woman, Michael was also a great happy guy! Vincent & Elvis great bar staff, Orlando the only remaining staff member we recognise. Kids club girls where lovely too. Andre chef down at beach bar & Sarafina made my twin nephews birthday & all kids day. Michelina ,Rose & Nicola where a few others. Sad but not sure I would return to this hotel again.

Lovely resort, but!

Our fourth visit and first since covid. Full marks to the refurbishments but still room for improvement to update the hotel . Service "hit and miss", staff need to be more attentive. I liken it to "manyana" without the sense of urgency. Breakfast I think the most enjoyable meal of the day , Docksider which we used mostly throughout the food can be best described as mediocre. The coffee shop proves to be popular and a great addition to the facilities. I cannot see the reason why it should be staffed 24/7 and between midnight and 0800hrs there is no need for somebody to be present particularly when there is a machine in situ for the occasional sad night bird. My opinion anyway. Watersports as always a great attraction and offering good service. Disappointing regards the use of a courtesy room and the offer is now the one shower at the gym. Although was fully aware the resort fee levied it cannot be justified and leaves a bad taste in the mouth and in particular when one has to pay a tourist tax as well. Taxi fares not a resort problem but now expensive and therefore puts people off using them not as often as one did in the past. Not sure if I will return!
