Did not stay at the hotel but ate dinner with others last week at the restaurant there. One of the loveliest settings you could wish for. We ate on the beach and had to move the table as the tide was coming in at one stage. I looked forward to the New York steak. When it finally arrived the meal was luke warm and disappointing. Others of the 7 of us had the same problem but we had waited for some time for the mains and everyone was too hungry to send it back. At $174 for just 2 of us ($599 in total) to say it was not worth it is an understatement especially as my steak had more than its share of fat/gristle. It receives three only for the beauty of the setting. Sad the meal was such a let down.

We returned to Bermuda After honeymooning here, to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. This is my 4th trip to the Island as well as being fortunate enough to live and work there many years ago People sometimes say, never revisit your dreams and we were , indeed, a bit apprehensive that it would live up to our expectations/memories, but 100 % and some, it did, and this was in no small part, down to the resort and in particular, the staff. Bermuda is known for its friendly and inviting people but the staff at Cambridge Beaches are exceptional and for the 10days we were there, they became our friends, not just staff. From the ladies in reception, the guest ambassadors, the courtesy bus driver, The lady doing my eggs perfectly every morning and the numerous people flying around in buggies that even though busy, always managed a smile and a greeting, this is what separates Cambridge Beaches from the rest of the luxury resorts on the Island. Sometimes it’s the small touches that make a difference, the “We’ve tried to think of everything” details that make a resort special and this place , genuinely, has this in abundance. It may not have the Glass doors, polished chrome, and marble inset baths sterile formality of some of the hotels on the island, but for me, this is the charm of the place. Who wouldn’t want to have their own luxury Bermuda style cottage that Cambridge Beaches offers ? Four private beaches ? Views over the harbour to die for and THE most amazing sunsets every night. We were lucky enough to stay in Croton North Cottage, which was simply perfect for us, (the icing on a very special cake ) private patio, views over the beach and water. I nearly filled my phone memory with shots of the sunsets alone. This is not specifically a review about Bermuda, which is a very special place in itself and if you get the chance to visit, you will not be disappointed, but of the resort and after hiring a scooter and covering every bit, from Somerset to Tuckers Town and all in between, I can say that I would not prefer to stay anywhere else. A big Thank you to all the staff for making our trip truly memorable, we promise we wont leave it so long to visit again Graham & Caroline Wright

My husband and I stayed at Cambridge Beaches 9/5 thru 9/8. We had a wonderful stay. It is a beautiful property with amazing views. The food was very good. We especially enjoyed the fish chowder ordering it 3 out of 4 nights. Check-In and check out was efficient. As this is your first and last impression of the resort, the reception could have been a bit warmer. They were kind and business-like, but not overly welcoming. This was in contrast to the staff at the spa, restaurant, bars, groundkeepers and room service who were warm, appreciative, and eager to assist even when not asked. We stayed in Croton South, a one-bedroom cottage close to the main beach. It was clean and spacious with a beautiful view. As some have mentioned, the weekend seems to attract party boats to the main beach area. That was not appealing to us and drove us to spend time at the pool. It was easy to find alternate quiet areas; however, I suspect it could be challenging to get away from the noise and music in high season. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort if you are looking for beautiful views, relaxation, very good food and service.

    Bermuda A La Cockaroach

Our stay at the Cambridge had positives and negatives (cockroaches). The service and food was very good. And the staff all try very hard and provided excellent service, and were very nice. Paricularly the room service was very accommodating and they brought us everything we asked for no matter how small. The beaches were very nice. Although, the Turtle Bay beach on the grounds was tough to access for snorkeling as you would have to walk on sharp natural objects on the ocean floor. The pool is beautiful, but it should have been vacuumed more regularly. Another beach on the premises near the Breezes restaurant was beautiful for snorkeling, although, some may find it small. It is small and shallow, it is good for swimmers who are not strong. And it was beautiful and we saw lots of small fish. The problems we had were that when we arrived we were suddenly offered an "upgrade", to the ocean side of the premises. At first, we gladly accepted the upgrade, assuming it would be an improvement from what we originally booked. However, as our stay proceeded we noticed they put us in a unit that was very close to the Breezes Restaurant on the premises, and as it turned out there was a wedding that night which was very noisy and disturbed us. It was then that we suspected the "upgrade" was in fact a "downgrade". The second day we found a half dead cockroach in the corner of the unit, in the living room -- he was still twitching. The cockroach was enormous, ugly, and nasty. We called housekeeping and they took it away, and we thought about asking them to change our room, but we didn't really want to bother as we were only on a short stay. The next day we saw a live cockroach crawling down the bathroom wall. My wife heroically killed it with the skill of a bullfighter using an ordinary water glass. But it was very disturbing and disrupted our holiday mood and feeling of well being. We were reluctant to use the toilet after seeing cockaroaches in it. Cambridge presents itself as a 4 Star establishment, and in light of that, the least they can do is get rid of the cockroaches. It really ruined our last night. We should not pay 400$ a night and get cockaroaches.

We stayed at Cambridge Beaches for a week in late August - September. The service is excellent and the welcoming center and concierge were very friendly and helpful. The views everywhere on this resort are stunning! We stayed in a deluxe ocean front room in Cove North and loved our room amenities and patio area overlooking the bay. The room is large, the bed was comfortable and the service was excellent. The food at Tamarisk restaurant and Breezes is excellent! We had a dinner at a table on the beach and it was so serene watching the sunset, The beach at Long bay was closed one day for a wedding, so if you are coming for a weekend, you might want to check as that is a lovely beach on the property. Helpful information: We found the resort shuttle to the Royal Navy Dockyard convenient to get to the ferry to Hamilton or St. Georges, but timing can be tricky and it stops running after 4:30pm run. The ferry schedule changes on weekends and holidays, so be careful to double check the times. Taxis are expensive, but convenient and the welcome center will arrange rides. We rented a scooter the last 2 days on the island and found this the most convenient for getting to the beaches on the South side and to get back and forth to the Dockyard. We considered renting a Twizzy car, but were told that they can run out of charge and there is no charging station at the beaches. Activities: H2O watersports rental is located on the property and we rented a motorboat one day, which was wonderful! We also did a sunset cruise from the Dockyard with Rising Sun and really enjoyed it. Getting to the South side beaches (Elbow Beach and Horseshoe Bay) on scooters was a favorite activity for us. You can walk from Horseshoe Bay around to Warwick long bay and visit several very private coves along the way - gorgeous! Food: Food is very expensive and we tended to stick with recommendations from friends and other guests. Great restaurants include Devils Isle and Crown and Anchor in Hamilton, Wahoo cafe in St. Georges and Mickey's at Elbow Beach. We heard that Barracuda grill in Hamilton is also excellent. Frog & Onion Pub at the Dockyard is pretty good and fun. We will definitely be back!
