Don't be swayed by negative reviews of this resort

Don't be swayed by negative reviews of this resort. We were upgraded into a generously spacious oceanview room equipped with all the amenities we needed. AC was working and efficient. The water pressure in the shower was sufficient. There was a smart TV with cable and Netflix. Housekeeping did an excellent job making our room each afternoon. Located on the Calabas Reef, the resort provided excellent snorkeling with no waves or currents. Fish were abundant and we could even see them while standing or sitting in the beach bar. There are two freshwater swimming pools, which we never used because we snorkeled off the pier every day. Ample shade is provided by the cabanas on the beach bar and the deck, and the view is nothing short of spectacular. Moreover, the resort is a convenient 5-minute walk to downtown Kralendijk where all the restaurants and bars are. No need for a car. It was so peaceful with no loud noises or banging music. Each morning, we were greeted by the soothing symphony of crashing waves and chirping birds. All the staff were friendly and happy to help you at this resort – I repeat, you will not find anywhere a staff as friendly and happy to help you. We had the most relaxing vacation in this resort. If possible, I would give them more than 5 stars and recommend it to all my family and friends.
Good location and food and service

TIPS for what to order at the restaurants. Chicken sate, Buddha bowl, mahi when it is the special fish, and the special vegetable soup. All of these are flavorful, and well prepared. The breakfast buffet is also very good. Other reviewers are not kidding about the good snorkeling right at the resort. There is a fun, big variety of fish. They are tame, compared to other places I have been. They let you get very close. I highly recommend taking a snorkel tour with Woodwind, which is right on-site. One thing I noticed is how heavenly quiet it is at the resort. No thumping party music, thank God. No drunk, shouting Americans. Just the ocean waves, the wind in the palms, and the birds. If the resort makes just a few small changes it would become a legitimate four star resort in my opinion. 1: Offering food and beverage service at the pools, the ocean view deck near the south pool, etc. Having staff to make those runs would pay for itself in food and drink orders I am sure! I for one would never have left the resort for food or drink, if they did this. 2: The very small details. Things like: at the south pool, at the shower, the sprayer hose is missing. In the room, the shower pressure can be a trickle. And a bit more attention to cleanliness. Several times, I saw garbage that was not attended to. For example a discarded cup that some jerk stuffed into the potted landscaping between the beach area and the casino. When I noticed it was still there 24 hours later, I threw it away myself. Many of the lounge chairs are stained. At least one of the hammocks has stains that do not bear describing. These are small matters. The resort is doing everything else right! I am still at the resort but I am already planning my return! :)
