There is everything to love about this hotel and absolutely nothing to dislike. In any room you decide to stay, you still get the same wonderful experience. I have been there at least once every year since 2012. It gets better every time.

A group of six of us vacationed at The Beloved Hotel on the Plaza des Mujeres outside of Cancun, MX this past week. For some of us this was our sixth vacation at The Beloved and lived up to almost all of our expectations. We were met at check-in with the usual chilled towels and glass of bubbly wine and escorted to out rooms with swim-up pools on the main floor of two units. After the first evening our daily routine included: 8:00 AM – breakfast at Le Bisou (buffet) or La Isla (plated); 9:00 AM – swimming in the pools close to our rooms; 10:30 AM – coffee break with liquids and/or snack from Caffetto, a new snack bar serving various coffees and teas, ice creams and sorbets, juices, wraps, and sandwiches (we all agreed that this new snackbar was a welcome addition to the places to eat at The Beloved); 12noon – lunch at La Isla (al fresco dining above the swim up bar, with a new Italian-oriented menu) or El Mar (dining on the beach with a menu focused on seafood); 1:30 PM – time in the ocean, or rest or reading in our rooms; 3:00 PM – re-gathering in the ocean; 4:00 PM – shower and dress for dinner; 5:00 PM – playing six-handed canasta in the lobby bar; 6:00 or 6:30 PM -- dinner at La Lupita the first night (a radical change from the restaurant in prior years serving different Mexican cuisine from various provinces each evening to a steakhouse with some Mexican accompaniments), and Le Bisou (reconfigured from the breakfast buffet to a French-themed restaurant) or El Mar. After dinner, some of our members walked the beach, while others attended a floor show, and yet others went to sleep. The major thing to report is that the week at the Beloved was one of extraordinary care by the staff. One of our members was disappointed that the lamb as entrée and pistachio ice cream as dessert were not available as indicated on the menu one evening at Le Bisou; the staff went out of its way to make pistachio ice cream available at our alternative restaurant on the evening following. Daniel, the mixologist at the lobby bar, was both incredibly competent (making the best martinis and mango tangoes we had) and very kind (setting up our table to play canasta and offering snacks once our pattern became clear to him). We look forward to vacationing at The Beloved Hotel next year.

Friends we traveled (almost annually with) chose the resort. So, we are pretty versed with experiences in Cancun, Cozumel, Punta Cana, Cabo and Costa Rica. We booked on Bookit.com. We stayed for 9 days, 8 nights. It seemed like a long stretch compared to other guests. One needs to incorporate other activities outside of the hotel less you will be subject to the beach and the pools which we enjoyed. Our friends rented a yacht toward the end of our stay for visiting Isla Mujeres and snorkeling. But one should take advantage of other outside activities such as clubbing and visiting historic places which we have done on previous trips to Cancun. We did enjoy the very quiet ambiance of the hotel as that is its reputation …….. not any outrageous people (guests) that many of the larger hotels accommodate. This was the most personal service we have experienced by the staff other than LeBlanc. We suggested that ceiling fans or portable fans are necessary for outside events, but there are none. Many of us felt like we were melting in the heat and humidity during evening events, taking breaks by going into the lobby which had consistent air conditioning that was working. There is absolutely no air movement in the many pockets of stagnant air between buildings........which is the blame of the architect who designed the layout of the entire complex – no consideration of an air flow study during site planning. The individual building units block any air from the sea, preventing a breeze to occur over by the main three buildings of the hotel. The two large swimming pools in front of the hotel main buildings have no breeze to relieve the actual heat of the water in those pools, which is why most people do not use them........they are vacant most of the time, but private if you need privacy because they are so uncomfortably warm in hot weather. I would not say that expectations were exceeded, however everyone tried very, very hard to satisfy our requests. The business model of this hotel is based upon labor intensive effort vs. hotel amenities. The rooms are very nice. The elevators are hot boxes, so you will find yourself using the stairs. The staff must make up for what the hotel is lacking. It is just that the hotel did not have the most comfortable accommodations. The hotel itself which is supposedly 10 years old (in operation) suffers from a need for capital improvements.......air conditioning in our room was inadequate regardless of what the staff tried to improve with their continuous efforts. In the evening it was difficult to sleep because of the humidity that could not be removed by a struggling AC unit, supplemented by fans to move the air in the room. During the daytime, the bed sheets were actually moist causing us to sleep on towels at nighttime. The room itself has very few electrical outlets causing overloads on just one circuit which had to be reset. The telephone often did not work. The TV was very blurry (an LG brand that was very old) ......even one of the staff thought it was very poor and difficult to view. Internet service which was impossibly slow to accomplish my wife’s communication for work related transmissions, even though Bryan Mevia did everything within his efforts to supplement a router that provided very little help. She found herself moving all about the hotel to try to improve internet reception. It became laughable, the number of things that are overlooked by management. The reason we would not return to this hotel as we have done so at others is that the hotel suffers from needed capital improvements. We also enjoy experiencing different environments.......which is no fault of the hotel, but a desire on our part. The Hydro therapy session my wife and I experienced was the best! vs. a typical massage. One needs to try it as an alternative to a massage. The gym was awesome, very clean and never crowded at any hour (as the clientele was not the type to use the gym). I was always by myself, which I enjoyed the solitude to contemplate while using the equipment…….particularly the boxing apparatus which I thoroughly enjoyed. EVERYONE of the staff members did what they could to make us comfortable in whatever request we had. At one point, a manager of the El Isla (outside) restaurant ran to the main kitchen to bring us some figure 8 fruit filled pastries that were not available for breakfast.........I thought that was well above and beyond one's expectations. If there was something not available the staff did everything they could to replace or supplement. The staff are the very best in terms of people pleasing that we have experienced anywhere while on vacation in Mexico. They enjoy talking and sharing conversation and experiences. They are all very engaging people. They make the difference at this hotel. Many we found wanting to reciprocate and help because they are so genuine human beings. A few people we can remember whose names are as follows, we really enjoyed and hope to keep in touch with: Bryan Mevia (back-front telephone operator), Jose Mex Cruz (front lobby), Rommel Ricalde (personal trainer), Felipe, Alex, Carla (from the beach), Victor (from El Isla restaurant), Alfredo "Mr. Paella" (entertainment) But again, EVERYONE of the staff were outstanding whom we would enjoy having visit us in our own home.......completely trustworthy and thoroughly enjoyably people!

If you’re a beach person this resort is for you. Great breeze everyday coming in off the ocean. Service on the beach is awesome. Alex and Felipe were great with us. Anything we needed was taken care of. The pool, all 3 of them, are in the middle of the resort and are baked everyday with sun and no breeze. The water is very warm and not refreshing. We stayed at the beach. The food here is top notch. We never had an average dinner. Haven’t had any better food at a resort anywhere. The activities at the outdoor Lupita Lounge were very good but we had to leave early each night. Just to hot with no breeze. And mosquitoes nipping at your ankles. Sports bar and Spa were excellent. Spa was a bit pricey but well worth it. Hydro Therapy was awesome. They will tell you anything is possible and trust me they aren’t lying. Walter makes it happen just ask and he will take care of you. Around 100 or so rooms makes this a small but personal resort. A quiet and extremely relaxing resort. It was exactly what we were looking for.

The service at the resort was stunning! The staff was very attentive! Housekeeping was the best we have ever experienced at a resort. The quality of the food and drinks was excellent and we are particular about those things! The coffee was the only area that could be improved. Specifically Expresso drinks! The grounds were immaculate immaculate though a bit uninspired with the exception of the fabulous fountains and water sounds found throughout the resort
