We arrived at zoetry in the 12th and it was home for us the next 7 days. The staff, Marcel, Wayne, Melissa, tanesia, Adrienna, diamond, Monique and everyone else, made a point of getting to know us. The atmosphere, food, service was excellent. Just what we wanted in order to unplug for a week. Thank you to all the staff who made our anniversary so special.

Upon arrival the staff immediately tried to become sales people! They told us we could upgrade our room for additional $150 a night- because there appeared to be some mix up in our reservation. We opted not to. As a result we were given a room on the 3rd floor (there was no elevator), they didn’t even ask if we needed an elevator. While discussing the spa with the person at the desk she told us we could get a couples massage and each opt for different services, however when we went to the spa the next day, we were told this was not accurate. We were told we would have to book separate reservations if we wanted different services. The person who checked us in noticed that it was my daughters birthday, she really should not have acknowledged it, because there was NO POINT! we could have chosen to stay many other places in Montego Bay- but we choose Zoetry to celebrate her birthday. It would have been nice if they had acknowledged her birthday in some way! The following evening we decided to try and visit one of the partner resorts. At check in we were told just to let them know, and they would send an email and arrange for transportation. When we decided to go, we then found out that we needed to let them know by 10:30am and that transportation would cost $80. EVERY staff person responds with “it’s my pleasure!” It does not feel genuine, NO ONE as you are passing them in the morning or evening, ever says good morning or good night. In fact, no one even said good bye let alone thanks for opting to stay with us, safe travels- nothing that felt welcoming and thankful that we had CHOSEN to stay at Zoetry! The spa services and the food were good, however, I would not recommend this resort. Yasmin

My boyfriend and I came here to learn how to relax. We can proudly say we accomplished this. We didn’t leave the hotel once. Not that we weren’t dying to check out the country and all of its beauty. This is what we wanted out of our vacation. Peace, quiet, the chance to rest/relax, and great drinks/food. The lobby and restaurants have an open space vibe with almost no walls except one restaurant upstairs, Polo Bar. The layout is easy to get around and you don’t have to walk too far to get where you need to go. The landscaping is beautiful, thanks to Winston! That’s just to name one of the many people we met at the resort. I want to name every single person but I don’t want to leave anyone out because everybody that works there is so kind, friendly, and caring so if I forgot to name one I’d feel bad. That’s how great everyone is! The food they make in my opinion is five stars. We mostly had the traditional Jamaican dishes, like their all-star breakfast with ackee and saltfish with callalo and fried plantains. There were other options too with the menu changing almost daily. They make a tasty, mouth burning jerk chicken for one of the lunch options. Overall the food was one of my favorite parts of this trip. The drinks were strong and the rum cream coffee was my go-to every morning after breakfast. The spa building has a steam room and a sauna. There are massage services, hair and nail services and much more. Nearby there is a gym with all of the basic equipment and frequent cardio classes. They had yoga classes on the dock and that was very peaceful. We went kayaking one morning on the reef which is a majority of their beach. Not much swimming room but a lot of cool wildlife to observe. We got a room with no view of the ocean. It was very clean and well-stocked. The layout is cool, modern, and spacious. Next time we want ocean view! This is not your typical crowded, miles of beach, parties every night, massive property hotel. We loved that and suggest anyone who needs a break from the city to come here. If you can tune out an airplane now and then you’ll barely hear them after day one. They aren’t that frequent. You also don’t hear them when you are inside. Warning if you visit in October! Mosquitoes are pretty terrible here especially since we were visiting during the rainy season so the air was always damp. I’m sure any other time wouldn’t be so bad. Overall it was an incredible trip and we both can’t wait to return to this Zoetry!

The room, pool, food, drinks and staff was great. We had a swim up ocean front room which we were told was not available but when we got there it was available! We did get a tour of the room but was not aware of the tablet that gave us daily activities, times and dinner choices. We had a mix up with taking the sunset cruise, we were told many reasons why we could not go but the general manager made it happen for us after she apologized for the mix up. It is a very realxing and clean resort! We also tried to have a person at the front desk make a reservation for their sister property, Breathless, and after we paid $80.00 to get there we found that a reservation was never made and wasn't even possible to get a reservation on the same day. All in all we like Zoetry it just lacks communication with the quests. They don't follow thru with requests and don't seem to be concerned to communicate the results. We would stay at a Zoetry but wont go back to Jamacia just because the locals continuosly bug you to buy their things. I feel its the Island and the natives that are too laid back, no hurry Mohn!

Just got back from a week at Zoetry MoBay. Two of us travelled - 2 mature women living in Canada. I am Jamaican born and visit Jamaica at least once a year. My travelling partner is Canadian but has travelled to Jamaica several times. Zoetry is a lovely and beautiful hotel. It is a 5-star resort. However, there's a few things that prevent me from giving it a 5-star review. Here's a few details: Vibe: hotel is beautiful. It's very quiet. There's very little in the way of entertainment. It's a small, intimate place, for those who would like to have good meals, lounge at the pool and spend time with each other. It's not a party place or a late-night place. It's very sedate and 'adult'....though, one should know that it's not truly an adult-only hotel. We had seen it advertised on travel sites as adult-only, but know that Zoetry itself states that children are welcome, but there are no children's activities. There were children - about 4 or 5, while we were there. I wouldn't recommend that one bring children here though. They would be bored! Room: we were a double tropical-view room. We asked to be moved to a King tropical-view room, and while the front desk said that there would be no charge for such a move, others had truly booked Kings, and she couldn't understand why we would want to have a King bed. It made no sense to her. She carried on so much, we just stayed in the room, but it felt like she was insinuating that it was strange for 2 women to want a King bed. None of her business.... The room was pretty, but not like it was pictured anywhere I've seen this room pictured - no chair at all in the room. Very disappointed it was not as advertised. However, it was beautiful. Housekeeping was great. Loved the daily sparkling wine. A couple of real 'downers' with the room, however.....the sound of the drain from what I assume were other rooms' either toilet or shower draining. Loud! So loud, it would wake us up. Also, our room was over the lobby, and while the hotel is not a party place, the lobby can get loud with folks especially at the bar. Some nights we could hear every word. I'd recommend that folks try to request not staying in a room on the 2nd floor above the lobby. Food: Very good! We had some excellent meals. Beef tenderloin, shrimp and some of the fish dishes were great. Breakfast was really good. Jamaica buffet night was fantastic. I had the Jamaican breakfast almost daily - great! However, I must note that the food is not tailored to Jamaican cuisine for the most part, though they pride themselves on local produce. For example, October is prime breadfruit season - but none was ever served at the hotel. I asked a staff about this who agreed and noted that there really was not a lot of Jamaican-focussed foods or drinks such as even Ting or ginger beer. While the food quality was good, and the staff were very friendly and lovely, the service was so slow....slower that I've had anywhere. Not nearly enough servers at any meal or providing bar service. Unacceptably slow service. Beach: This was the deal-breaker of this hotel. The beach is terrible! The water is unswimmable. It is full of seaweed. You can walk to the end of the pier and climb down into deep water and swim there, but that's the only decent water here (though my travelling partner got several jellyfish stings here). If you like to walk into the water from the sand and swim, you can't come here. Any reviewer that says that the beach is OK is lying. It's so bad! We went into town a couple of times to swim at the public beach (Dead End) and the paid beach (Doctor's Cave). The hotel should have run shuttles into town so folks could swim. Tip: the front desk gave us a taxi price of $80USD to go into town to the beach. They said that this was a very good price and we would never get cheaper anywhere. I declined and we went out on the street and took a taxi for $10 each way. The beach is 10 minutes away. Staff: Lovely, lovely people. Most staff were very friendly. Some of the standouts were Melissa, Tanisha (Deneisha?), Rachelle and of course, Mr. Sunshine - he is as amazing as everyone says. Gym: A tiny room. There's a treadmill, recumbent bike and some ellipticals. They are good. However, there are also 2 spin bikes - these are unusable! They make terrible noises and are stiff. I spin religiously, so I know spin bikes. The gym is tiny. There's a few dumbells - maybe 6....so I'd advise to only use the gym for the cardio machines. There are fitness classes, but while we were there, many classes did not happen. Shopping trip: We went on the free trip offered to Shoppes at Rose Hall. We knew what to expect as we've been there before. It is a tourist trap, but all the souvenirs you could want are there as well as jewellery - and there is a Pandora store. The driver took us to a close-by souvenir shop before going to Shoppes. That shop and others in the mall are a million times cheaper than Shoppes, especially for things like coffee. In summary, though I've noted several critiques, the hotel is quite beautiful. Because it's so small and quiet, it's very relaxing. There's nothing that you can do but relax. We had a great time. If the beach was good, I'd definitely return.
