This is our second trip to Beaches Ochos Rios and we are booked to come back again! This resort is one the older of the Beaches/Sandals brands so if you have been to other resorts, you notice the differences, which are mostly cosmetic. But every day I was there I saw them improving the resort (painting, cleaning, planting, etc). Some of the rooms could use an update, but they are still very clean. That being said, this resort is also cheaper to stay at than the other newer, more updated Beaches. I don't believe it takes much away from the experience. The best things about this resort are that it never feels crowded. There is always plenty of space at the pool, beach or water park. There is never much of any wait to eat at the restaurants. There is plenty to do for kids and adults. Sesame street shows, live bands, arts and crafts, snorkeling, kayaking, etc. The fact that this resort is on the smaller side is what gives it most of it's charm. Because of the smallness, the staff there really gets to know you and the staff is honestly the best part of this place. Shaine in concierge- This is our second year having known Shaine and he is very much one of our favorite staff there. He is always smiling and always checking to make sure that you have everything you could possibly need. He feels like a friend but also maintains his professionalism. A real gem of the resort. Ripton the bartender- we were very excited to see him again. We sat with him for hours just getting to know him, hearing all about the history of Jamaica, and exchanging life stories. His sense of humor is seriously the best. If you see him, ask him for a Holy Wata!! Davion- met him while he was selling bottles of wine. His charm won me over and I ended up buying one, but did not feel pushed into it. I was sick when I met him and he ran to get me a tonic water with lime, ginger and salt...said it was the way to cure a stomach ache. Anytime he saw me, he asked how I was and would offer to get me another. He also stole my daughter's heart. She is very shy but warmed up to him quickly. He found out she loved "strawberry slushies" and would grab one for her every time he saw us, which was often. Sashane- she was also selling wine (and a server at Bayside), but got to me after I had already purchased from Davion. She was still so sweet, always smiling and always would check and see how our day was going. Loved seeing her friendly face around the resort. Amanguh (server at BBQ Park and Out of the Blue)- he was so outgoing, attentive and kind. We loved having him as a server Chistopher (bartender at piano bar)- I had a great time chatting with Christopher. Aaron (photographer)- this guy was all over the resort, trying to get a great shot. I swear he never went home! Very hard working and pleasant to be around. Jospehine's Creperie staff- all the girls here work so hard and are great!!! Its also the best place for a snack. Leslie- he also stole my daughter's heart in the elevator as she explained all of her toys to him haha. On our last day, he wheeled her all the way to our bus and gave us a heartfelt send off. Of course all of the entertainment staff are also amazing to be around. They make sure you are having fun! They remember you and feels like hanging out with friends. I hope I am not forgetting anyone, but honestly it was hard to find someone who wasn't smiling and ready to help. I really enjoy getting to know the staff as like I've said, they give this place Jamaican charm and you honestly can learn a lot from their stories. When you come back here, it feels like "home" because of them. The resort is great, the view are beautiful but the staff is where it's at!!!

Hi from beaches ochi. This was our third trip with the Beaches/sandals franchise - we always book before we leave. This resort however makes us never want to go to a beaches/sandals again as this one simply does not live up to the franchise’s expectations. There’s been too many issues to list but let’s start with the fact that EVERYONE IS SICK. There’s clearly something going around and children and adults can be heard coughing left and right. Our son was sent to the nurse with a cough from camp sesame. She called the dr to come in $245 later we were given a generic cough syrup. The cough syrup made him extremely lethargic and he eventually became dehydrated and vomiting which even prompted a $55 charge for PEDIALYTE. Management was completely unsympathetic. The workers here are incessant with pumping hand sanitizer onto the adults upon entry into the food establishments but not the kids which is a huge part of the problem. Second issue. Be prepared for only two restaurants to be opened all day. You get your choice of the disease laden buffet or the bbq park. Dinner offers three more choices but dinner doesn’t start until 5:30 and all of the kids shows start at 6 pm, great planning right? Third, the state of the property is truly so run down. You smell raw sewage when walking to the Greek village, the rooms need serious upkeep both internally and externally, and get prepared to see broken light fixtures and scratches everywhere. They also spray for mosquitoes every single night without warning and the smelly mist permeates everywhere. Fourth, something gross is going on with the amenity kits in the bathroom. I’ve never received one item that still had the silver safety seal on. They have all been used before which is gross nickel and diming Fifth, the staff is different than other beaches. There is a service charge added to your spa treatment when you check out (normal). But when I questioned it the lady checking me out said it’s a “Jamaican tax on spa services” so you still have to tip. I’m worried now that my additional tip went to her and not the women who actually performed the services. Also get ready for people to try to sell you bottles of wine for dinner while at breakfast. On a positive note, I will say that Courtney at Neptune’s is incredible and worth recognizing. This will probably get deleted bc management is vehemently denying any widespread sickness but us guests do talk to each other and would like to warn anyone bringing children here as we unfortunately did.

    Ya mon!

Beaches is a wonderful family vacation geared especially for children. Entertainment: The programs seem to be for younger children (under 7) and encompasses a lot of the Sesame Street characters. The adult entertainment is on the weak side. They do make an effort to have a nightly program but it falls a little short. Staff: Everyone was very helpful, friendly and polite. Anything you wanted you just had to ask for it. Food: The morning buffet was typical resort style and food with an omelet station, cereals, breads and pastries, pancakes and waffles, various meats and eggs and plenty of fresh fruits. The lunch and dinner buffets were good, not great. You could always find something you liked. The restaurants offered very good choices and did not require reservations, although you might have to wait a little bit. The only downside of all the eating places is the slowness of service. I mean REALLY slow. I would not recommend ordering cappuccino because there is only one machine in the entire place of 5 restaurants and it is in the buffet area and the servers from the other restaurants have to go there to to get it. Housekeeping: Everything is very, very clean. We were pleased with the cleanliness of our room as well as the eating areas and all common areas. There are a few small cats roaming around the eating areas and roosters in the grassy areas that may awaken you! Swimming: The Pool was large, clean, warm and wonderful. Towels were bountiful and readily available. Ample seating around pool and on the beach. There was no rush to "reserve" lounges and honestly those that did rarely used them all day. The beach was constantly being raked and the water was clean with gentle waves.

After a 9.and half hour flight and a 2 hour transfer we were shown to our room which was a one bedroom in the french village, we paid to upgrade before we left the uk, the pictures on the website looked absolutely amazing and we were all so excited. the room we had was massive bright and clean the kids had their own bathroom which made them feel very grown up they had a sofa bed with a trundle underneath which pulled out, our bed was massive and very comfortable. We went down to bayside for breakfast everyday and Sashene served us most days, she was so lovely kind and committed to her job. What a lovely member of staff. We also ate at Neptune’s and our server Justin made sure we had everything we needed, we also ate in the Venetian and again the food was lovely and the staff made you feel like royalty. The entertainment team were just amazing I’ve never seen anything like it, they all make the time to interact with you and the kids and they remembered our girls names. Alex, shamar shreene Monique Tom cruise Demi, and all the other entertainment staff were just out of this world, they put on a great show for us every night and the Sesame Street parade the kids loved. As we were returning guests we were invited to dinner it absolutely poured with rain so our beautiful outside dining was quickly rushed into the bayside restaurant by all the wonderful staff, the meal we had was amazing and we got a complimentary bottle of rum and a tee shirt each. We sat by the pool most days and the kids were able to run free and go wherever they liked on the resort they were able to go and ask for food and drinks and the staff were very accommodating, shamar couldn’t believe that we hadn’t tried a bob Marley and he went to get us both one, a must try lovely cocktail. Our week at beaches was amazing a holiday we will never forget and that’s mostly due to the fantastic staff the great food and wonderful entertainment.

Overall not worth the money. Kid's club was hard to utilize due to the setup. Waterpark was underwhelming. Food was mediocre. Staff wasn't knowledgeable on multiple topics. Nickelodeon Punta Cana Resort was a much more enjoyable all inclusive family option, and less costly.
