Stay somewhere else

LFLZ0505 on Apr 12, 2024

Hotel: 4/5 pretty nice & big - rooms could use some upgrading & there’s no beach, you have to take the hotel’s transportation & it’s a bit of work by the time you get to the beach all chairs are taken unless you go super early. Food: 3/5 we couldn’t book any restaurants so we had to eat at the buffet all week & food was okay.. Staff: 2/5 I would say I’m quite disappointed, we’ve always had a great experience every time we travel to Mexico but this time I’m not sure why but the staff here were rude, from the second we arrived & checked in the girl was giving us attitude, most of the waiters/waitresses & front desk people looked like they didn’t wanna be there, they would walk away while we were ordering. The manager at the buffet and Alexis at front desk were the nicest people. Service needs MAJOR improvement. there’s no staff serving drinks or food by the pools, you have to go get your own drink/food every time to the snack bar. The hotel has “topless not allowed” signs everywhere (which is great considering it is a family resort) & there was a lady topless in her balcony by the kids pool & nobody said anything & also a guy in a thong. They need to be more strict with these rules. The entertainment team was great but at the pool foam party they were dancing like they’re at a strip club (again, it’s a family resort) Rooms are a bit far and if you have kids (strollers etc) make sure you get ground floor rooms because they don’t have elevators. I guess it’s okay for the price you’re paying but I would recommend staying somewhere else.

Good resort minus a few bad points.

Kesh269 (Wolverhampton, United Kingdom) on Apr 11, 2024

Mexico was amazing, the resort was great apart from the room was dated and smelt badly of damp and the inner area of the resort (restaurants/lobbys/entertainment area) had no air con only fans which was just circulating the heat around. The facilities within the resort where very good, the choice of a la carts was very good but advice to anyone attending would be to book the a la cart restaurants the day you get there as if you don't you won't get to use them. Another great thing was that we could use the facilities of the neighbouring grand bahia tulum and akumal resorts. We only used the beach on tulum which was a nice beach didn't use the akumal resort. The food was great but as mentioned earlier no air con any where so your practically siting sweating and eating and if you have any of the Mexican food (jalepenos) your going to feel worse lol. Overall the options in all the meals at the buffet where great. Oh contrary to what people tell you you don't have to tip everywer you go that's your choice no one says anything if you don't or if you do they don't realy care.

Pick a smaller resort!

Jaime K on Apr 10, 2024

The resort is too big. Their focus is on quantity and not quality. You don't have access to the sister resorts (Akumal, Tulum). You can go to the sister resorts and walk around, but they won't serve you a drink and let you get a coffee, ridiculous. The buffet is average; I never want pizza, hot dogs, or chicken nuggets again. There are many areas where they can improve.

Best vacation ever - absolutely loved everything about Coba!

bellinabambina (Toronto, Canada) on Apr 09, 2024

Weather, food, pools, beach, entertainment, staff/customer service, rooms - all excellent! I don't have a single complaint about Grand Coba. It was our first time in Mexico and we couldn't have chosen a better resort for our family (with 2 kids aged 11 & 17). We enjoyed the evening theatre shows and live music in the terrace, the a la carte restaurants, the amazing buffet food, coffees and drink varieties and anytime we had a question or request, staff was there to assist with a smile. The resort is not beach front, but trolleys come frequently to take you wherever you need to go. We will be back one day to enjoy the resort for another visit!

Love Bahia!!! Will definitely be back!!!

Tanya C (Toronto, Canada) on Apr 08, 2024

This place is fantastic!!!! So much to do. The only reason I give it a four star instead of 5 is because the one thing I would change is the people that follow you around like stalkers trying to sell you the upgrades and timeshares. Those guys pop out of bushes and scare the crap out of you. It’s like a crazy magic show!! lol. I would instead recommend the hotel just have a few brochures in peoples rooms showing what they have to offer in terms of the privilege club, upgrades, excursions etc. That way people can have the option of booking a time to discuss these options if they are interested as apposed to really pushy people trying to sell you this stuff. Other than that, my hubby and I had an amazing anniversary at Bahia. They treated us so good. I told them it was our anniversary and when we got there they had a bottle of wine and chocolates waiting for us along with a sign on our door saying happy anniversary. Rodolfo was an amazing waiter. The last day before we left he had a table set up for us with a cute little display. The drinks were great!!! The first thing I did when I got there was get on the Facebook page and ask what everyone’s favourite drinks were and the post went crazy. I was sure to try pretty much all of them. The buffet is huge. Even if you are a picky eater, you will always find something. You will definitely never go hungry. What I do recommend is to get some better desserts though. Most of them were lacking but I made up for it with ice cream. ?? I recommend maybe adding some tres leches desserts in there etc. The nightly entertainment was fantastic as well. A little hard to find seats unless you get there early. I will definitely be back and I’m going to bring the whole family this time around. Thank you Bahia.
