Hope this review helps anyone contemplating to book this resort. My husband and I stayed for 6days and 5 nights and just got back last night. Before you get to the resort: If you have booked this resort make sure to arrange your shuttle/bus from the airport to the resort. The drive from the airport to the resort was about an hour and half. If you don’t have this arranged, a taxi can easily charge you over a $100 USD one way. When you arrive at the airport be careful by the people working trying to scam you on excursions. Just keeping walking till you walk through the exit doors. I made a pros and cons list to make this an easy read. Pros: 1. Staff- all of them were super friendly, always willing to help and hard working. Special mention to Antonio, waiter at the lobby buffet was the best! 2. Room was beautiful and spacious (looked like it was renovated), washroom was meh ok - nothing great, did have a jacuzzi. View was just trees. 3. Huge resort- you will never feel crowded, lots of walking from the room to restaurants/pools/beach. 4. Pool entertainment was good- some annoying drunk people at the pool but no biggie. Swim up bar service was amazing as well 5. Health bar/ ice cream shop/coffee shop- Amazing must try! 6. A la carte restaurants- Japanese was so good. Must try! Best food I had all week Drinks were great. Cali and Oscar at the wet bar are amazing! 7. Our housekeeper - Maricela was amazing! Cons: 1. FOOD- if you are a food lover and like flavourful quality food, spend your money elsewhere. The buffets have a huge variety of food but extremely bland and poor quality. From the night we got there till the morning of our check out (except Japanese dinner) I basically survived on guacamole, salsa and nacho chips for lunch and dinner and Omelettes at breakfast. Everything else was so bland. Even after adding Tabasco the food was not good. Food is a big thing for me and for this reason I will not be going back to the resort. 2. The front desk was not friendly at all. We had payed a lot for our stay and was hoping for a decent view but was told that to get any ocean view or pool view we would have to pay an upgrade charge. We politely declined and headed to our room we were assigned. 3. On the day of your arrival your conceirge will try to sell you on VIP membership by offering free massage and a a la carte breakfast (followed by a 4 hour presentation on how the membership works). Unless you have thousands of dollars in your bank account just sitting say no to this. We heard this from few other people and read some reviews before so we politely declined. However the concierge got a little upset. 4. We were only allowed to visit 2 A La Cart restaurants for 6 days. Like why? After spending so much money - because we weren’t VIP members 4. If you aren’t a VIP member you are basically not getting your money’s worth. Hope this really helps guys!

I took this bike tour at the Grand Sirenes. Miguel was our tour guide. The tour was amazing. We felt very save and saw some amazing sightseeing! I definitely recommend this activity. Just try to sign in the day before as this is very popular.

Overall good resort but with its pros and cons...

This is the first resort in Mexico my wife and I stayed at. We stayed in mid-Jan 2020 for 5 nights. After reading many mixed reviews on here, we'd have to agree with most things said by others. First off, the resort is about 60-90 mins from the airport. Transport was setup for us by the resort from the airport and was a smooth process. Once we arrived at the resort, check in was also smooth and quick. We also received 2 tasty welcome drinks. Reception was friendly and explained where our room was, gave us a map of the facilities, and generally explained the restaurant options and other facilities we had access to. One of the bell boys took us and our luggage by shuttle to the room. The room was very clean and king bed was extremely comfortable. Room did smell a little strange but my wife said it could have been the cleaning agent they used. I thought it was more along the lines of a faint sewage smell as others may have described. Either way it wasn't bad and didn't bother us. Fridge was stocked with a few cans of pop and beers, and a nice big jug of distilled water (all of which was replenished promptly as we finished them). We didnt have an iron or umbrella (apparently the resort doesnt carry any umbrellas). Iron was sent up promptly after we asked for it. AC worked very well and we never had any issue during our stay. Our housekeeper Maricela was amazing. We tipped a few USD per day but she did an amazing job keeping our room clean. We did have a Gecko (lizard) in our room but it was in the corner by the balcony the entire time so it didnt bother us. The resort is situated in a jungle so its expected. We saw some iguanas and other wildlife at the resort which was awesome. They dont bother you in any way. Make sure you bring mosquito repellant as there is a bit out there at night. During the day was OK. Be prepared to walk at this resort. I personally found this to be great, since you get a few minutes of walking to and from your rooms to the facilities, depending on where your room was. If you have trouble walking you should definitely ask for a room closer to the restaurants and pools. The resort is huge and spacious. It never felt too crowded which was an added bonus. Lots of pools and bars, and restaurants. A huge letdown was the fact we were only given 2 A La Carte restaurants. I wish we could have gotten more (at least 3 or 4) but I think they were all booked up and or VIP members get first priority. We did the Mediterranean (pretty good food) and Japanese (major home run on the food, absolutely amazing!). Service all around at this resort is exceptional. All the staff is pretty friendly. From the few resorts we've been too, service here was by far the best. We had to stick to the buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The main buffet by the lobby was pretty good, although some may call the food bland. Lots of choices but the food was definitely a hit or miss. I personally wouldn't call it bad, however. We didnt get sick from the food, just needed a bit more flavor. Lots of drinks to choose from the bar, and quick service all the time. Health bar, ice cream shop and coffee shop all very good. Beach bbq was also not bad. We also did the dolphin discovery, which was fun and cool. The staff were great and explained everything thoroughly. Another letdown was that we werent allowed to take pictures and you have to buy the pictures they take of you, which is more moreless $40 USD per picture. We also took a picture with parrots and had to pay for those pictures, which was $30 USD for one picture. The beach was pretty clean but you need water shoes to go in. Theres lots of rocks on the shore. Lazy river was great but in my opinion needs to be monitored. Kids can become a nuisance when trying to relax and when it gets busy you may end up bumping into others. Overall we had a great stay. Weather was perfect and barely rained during our stay. Service was really good and definitely the main star of this resort. The resort really tries to sell its services which can get annoying. Our personal concierge tried to get us to go to a presentation, which I hear is 4 hours, to become a VIP member and we declined. But there was some pushback. Maybe they work on commission? Checkout was simple and easy. Transport was setup for us to go back to the airport. Although you need to arrange this quickly after you arrive, otherwise they make it a minor issue. Mainly because they try to sell you on more excursions with a presentation while you book the return transport. We did it 2 days after we arrived and got some pushback as to why we didnt do it sooner. I would recommend this resort as its couple and family friendly! Just be aware of everything they try to sell and offer you, and if you're picky with your taste in food.

This is our second time to this resort and third time in this area of Mexico. The weather was spectacular during this visit. We experienced high twenties and blue skies with intermittent cloud cover. The winds off the Caribbean were high so beach snorkelling was out of the question during this trip. I wish to emphasize the wonderful staff at the resort. The pool staff, greeters, and servers in the Ultimate Club are both cordial and efficient. They greet you with a smile each and every time. When the skies opened with a brief shower, pool staff diligently collected wet towels and forgotten items left behind by guests. The entertainment staff, such as Geromy, were fun and enthusiastic. Clemente (swim-up bar) and his bartending staff/servers are second-to-none. Always cordial and happy to make the vacation memorable. Other staff in the resort were also gracious. For instance, I took a bike ride with other guests and led by Miquel. He explained all areas of the resort (the monkey cenote), Turtle Beach, and the disco during our ride. He kept safety top of mind, too. When our ride was interrupted by rain, safety was his top priority as well as our comfort. The a la carte restaurants are all exceptional. One was not better than another. The food was tasty and served with expertise. Serving sizes were large! We were never disappointed. Personal favourites were the steak house, French, Mediterranean, and Japanese. The room was clean and spacious. There were many amenities to make our stay exceptional. One night our room was decorated in rose petals to celebrate our 40th anniversary happening later in 2020. These touches make one feel exceptional and special. We love the Sky Bar and entertainment. Over a two week period, the entertainers (in the theatre) offer exceptional shows like Michael Jackson, Lion King, and Rock as well as so many others. The Sky Bar is outside so offers a gorgeous view of the nighttime sky especially beautiful on a clear night. The bartenders (all of them) offer to make any kind of cocktail you want so go wild!

I'll start with the positives, 99% of the staff at this resort are amazing, they work so hard and are so happy all the time, a few people stand out, firstly Erick of the entertainments team, he's one of the nicest most genuine people you could meet, he'd always come and say hi, took interest in everyone and went above and beyond to make you happy. Second, Ruth in the sports bar, so good at what she does, often your next drink was ready before you even finished your current drink, she was always happy, always chatty and is another reason i'd happily return to this hotel. The food, though not amazing is good, in terms of the buffet it's much better than other hotels we've visited in the area, and it's as good as the a la carte restaurants on site, which seem difficult to book. The hotel grounds are amazing, the wildlife we saw at the resort was great, and the pools and lazy river are superb. The Bad, the beach area is poor, the sand is coarse like gravel, and the beach walk between the spa and dolphin discovery centre is covered in trash. The noise really echoes through the buildings, we were on the 3rd floor and could hear everything going on, people returning from the disco at 2 am will easily wake you, as they did us a few times during our stay. I also found the front desk staff to be rude, and unhelpful, and they concierge try to talk you in to attending a time share pitch (they will tell you its not) but when you go they tell you that for an investment of around $50k us you can have x amount of holidays in the Grand Sirenis resorts over x amount of years, this took 2 hours in total, and was not worth the hydrotherapy voucher (the free hydrotherapy treatment was basically a cold shower from many angles), when others tried to cancel they were asked why, what changed, and many barriers were put up, almost as if the staff are on commission for getting people to attend, my advice just say your not interested from the start, and avoid all the hard selling. Otherwise it's a good resort in superb grounds, it's easy to get around on foot, nothing is that far away that you need to use the shuttles, we walked from our room at one side of the resort to the dolphin discovery at the other end in under 10 minutes (this was not walking at speed either). I would stay again, but not right away.
