Not a five star resort

Alejandra C on Apr 13, 2024

If you're paying under 2k for five nights, then it's definitely worth it. We paid like 2400, NOT worth it. I have stayed at several all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, and this does, in fact, have the best food I've eaten. The drinks are, in fact, top notch and they have all the high-end alcohols. HOWEVER, it is true you have to call a week ahead of your trip and make restaurant reservations (at an all-inclusive) which we did because we read the reviews. But, had we not, I cannot even imagine how horrible and frustrating it would be to arrive and be told that the only time you can eat dinner your entire trip is 9 pm. It is an older resort, and although the grounds are meticulously maintained, there's some things (like at one of the restaurants, the table was noticeably chipped in several places) that are simply unacceptable at a "five-star" resort. Most importantly, the A/C in our friends' room really did not work. So, do NOT come here between April - October, they were only able to sleep because it was relatively cool at night. Otherwise it would have been a horrible experience. The complaints about them not having enough pool chairs are true, I don't understand why they don't just buy more pool chairs, are they intentionally trying to make people unhappy? On top of that they allow people to "reserve" pool chairs, such that half the chairs by the pool and empty but "reserved" at all times. The worst part is, definitely, the front desk staff, a bunch of incompetent 25-year old himbos who do not have an ounce of sense or customer service. Unbelievable treatment by any of the men at the front desk. (There was ONE woman there, who was nice and capable). I would not return to this hotel, BUT, like, if there was a 1500 per week deal, I would definitely buy it. It's all about cost/benefit.

Ventana Restaurant: Super staff and food

vincenzopP137DD on Apr 12, 2024

My opinion: the best Service and Restaurant in the Royal Hideaway Hotel. Special thanks to David Flores. Very professional and friendly person. You should be proud to have such a nice guy in your staff. In general the team of the Ventana Restaurant is a super team. I'm very happy I could have this experiance.

Good, Quite Hideaway but Old

Inspire13040248784 on Apr 11, 2024

Great food and staff but hotel is old. Only 2 restaurants for lunch and felt they were short staffed durning the lunchtime rash. However, dinner options were awesome, albeit you need reservations, which is annoying. Ventanas restaurant was great. David was a great server and Carlos Quintal always made sure things run smoothly. Our concierge, Andre, was also very helpful and sincere.

Wonderful time!!

8jodyk on Apr 08, 2024

The resort is beautiful and the food was amazing! Ricky is the best concierge at the resort! He was always kind and helpful. My husband and I were there with my three siblings and their spouses…wonderful memories were made. Only downside-the resort needs more beach loungers. If we didn’t get up and get chairs before 8:30 am, we didn’t have chairs. It’s a simple fix that has not been resolved and when talking to guests that go there every year, it seems it has always been a problem. There is plenty of space to add more. Just buy some more loungers!

Not Impressed with my visit. Would not considerer coming back or recommend to anyone.

Norma A on Apr 08, 2024

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with my visit. The hotel premises are beautiful. 95% of staff is amazing. Food: Very low-quality bland food. Not much variety. We arrived at 8:30 am headed to have breakfast. Went straight to omelet station. Ask for a simple omelet onion and cheese. The onion was totally raw. I threw the whole thing away. Buffet BLAND BLAND BLAND food. Not much Variety. I mean the best thing was mimosas!!! AND STAFF. Restaurants: So, my husband did not take a dress shirt appropriate for 3 of the 5 restaurants. We were not aware the dress code was so strict. On the date we arrived they had pre-reserved dinner at Italian restaurant. Since my husband did not have proper dress attire we ask if we could go to Grill or Mexican restaurant which is casual attire. Well OMG asking them to change reservations was like pulling teeth. Made it seem impossible and as though they were totally booked. We left upset. Little did we know at 6pm all restaurants are closed because they start the dinner reservations. One of the staff members at Mexican restaurant which we told what was happening was kind enough work her magic and she “fit us in”. To our surprise they were never booked to even 30% capacity at any point during our dinner. Spa: I got a massage which was great. However, at time of my visit they had a promotion pay for a 50 min massage get 80min. When I was checking out, I was charged full price. I asked for the promotion, and I was not giving it to me because I signed the receipt for the full price. I spoke to the Spa manager. This guy is extremely ARROGANT you can see it a mile away. He said since I didn’t mention promotion when I got message, he could not do anything and that was it. I never go anywhere trying to get anything free. But if they have a promotion even have Spa massage masseuses out in the pool area trying to sell massages with promotion, I just could not understand why I was not extended to me. Staff: 95% of staff is great and is what makes coming to this resort worth it. I wish I could remember all their names to mention them. Bell boys always ready to help with luggage, taxis with a friendly smile, Waiters well mannered attentive. Pool waiters THE BEST. Very relatable make it a point to get to know you. Making sure if you anything other than just booze. Entertainers are fun, outgoing and try to involve everyone. Entertainment: Lacking entertainment. After 6pm everything kind of shuts down. There was Karaoke night and stuff but after 11 it was done, and I personally wanted to do more. We made the best of our visit. But would not come back or recommend. ?
