This property is scheduled for a renovation. Wait for that - don’t go now you will be disappointed. They have already mailed it in!

Not worth the cost

syllem21 on Apr 19, 2024

I feel bad for the employees, they are very helpful and friendly, but the facilities are old and decrepit. Our room had been renovated not that long ago so we were lucky in that way. The pool when we arrived had NOT been cleaned for a few days, water level was low making it stagnant and full of sand. I ended up with food poisoning on the first day from food at the pool side grill. I for one will never go to another Secrets because I certainly didn't get my moneys worth, I've been to 3Star all Incl. nicer than this.

Needs Tons of TLC

MomtoLH (NJ) on Apr 19, 2024

This resort needs a major overhaul. The outside of our room had a door that was literally rotting from water damage. The back deck had rotten wood outside. Our room inside was very nice, roomy and I have to say very clean. We upgraded and had a Marina Suite, that is probably why. The food was average at best. Bacon had no taste. Same breakfast everyday. Lunch was the best meal in my opinion. Burgers and pizza were good. Couldn't get top shelf liquors anywhere except the preferred bar which still didn't carry Heineken beer or Malibu rum. The pool filth was on a level that I've never encountered before. You could not go in the pool! The swim up pools below our room were also filthy and we never saw anyone cleaning them during our one week stay. The beach was full of seaweed and it took the resort several days to clean it off the beach. The beach was also littered with debris. Be forewarned that this resort has zero rooms with ocean views. Not worth the money unless you like to drink all day and eat mediocre food. We won't be returning. On a positive note, we felt that the staff was awesome and very friendly. Try saying bonjour or good morning and maybe they will respond to you better. Hyatt needs to up their game on this property. The island went through a devastating hurricane 7 years ago and the pandemic, but you've had plenty of time to make this place better. The island itself is super friendly. This trip cost over $6,000, not worth it.

Absolutely worst spa resort! A complete renovation and overhaul is needed for the room’s cleanliness, outdoor and patio seating, and more entertainment options

Extremely horrible - rude staff - filthy and falling apart

Lady Jaime W on Apr 15, 2024

We have just returned home from staying at the Secrets in Saint Martin and have never been so disappointed in our lives. We have paid astronomical rates for a 1 star resort at best. The resort is in utter disrepair- the staff is not friendly at all and you feel like you are bothering them to ask them for anything. The Preferred Club is an absolute joke.  There’s nothing exceptional or any benefit to being a Prefered Member except the private bar which provides horrible service and no one is ever around to help you. We often stand in the room with other guests for several minutes waiting on staff to come around.  All of these below were promised to us and NONE of them were upheld !  Included Promotions: 1) More free perks for upgraded room: early check in / check out, 50% off romantic dinner, and more. -NONEXISTENT  Free perks Inclusions: One bottle of wine/sparkling wine, rum or tequila (per room/per stay)* 25% Discount on Spa Services (one per person/per stay)** NEVER GOT IT!  One in-room family breakfast or champagne breakfast (per room/per stay) NEVER OFFERED!! Early Check in / Check out subject to availability 50% off romantic dinner. NEVER OFFERED!!!  Spa discounts apply to spa treatments and services only; not applicable towards the purchase of spa products. Discounted amenities and services cannot be combined with other discounts. Additional restrictions may apply on eligible Romantic Dinner packages or Spa services. All services should be arranged with the concierge after check-in. Resort Coupons cannot be combined with Spa, Wine, or Romantic Dinner discounts. SPA WAS CLOSED MOST DAYS!!  Added values are not combinable with same added values of other promotions. 2) Experience a higher level of luxury with Preferred Club inclusions. All Preferred Club suites offer the following additional amenities and services: •Private Preferred Club Lounge •Preferred status and amenities -NO AMENITIES!  •Daily continental breakfast service in the lounge - DAY OLD CHEESE COVERED IN FLIES? Ha!  •Afternoon hot and cold hors d’oeuvres —NONE  •Exquisite desserts & fine liquors in the lounge -NONE •Complimentary internet access in-suite •Complimentary computer access in the Preferred Club Lounge •Upgraded mini-bar service THERE IS NO COMPUTER  •Upgraded bath amenities NOTHING WAS UPGRADED AND YOU HAD TO ASK FOR HAND SOAP!  Most of the restaurants are not open. There’s no entertainment AT ALL. The Sundial daily calendar is full of events that don’t exist. The theatre is permanently closed. The sports bar is permanently closed. Neither of those are told to you when you book and you are actually told the opposite. There’s only one place to eat for breakfast and only two restaurants to choose from at night while the others are closed and there is no indication why.  The pool is never cleaned and absolutely filthy with trash and debris from god knows how long ago floating in it. There are tables flipped over on the pool deck and chairs and benches near the lobby area fallen over and not a single employee fixes them. They all just walk past them.  The pool area bar was miserable and no one was ever around to serve you. The entire resort was overrun by Day Passers who were obnoxious and smoked everywhere making it completely unenjoyable.  If we could have, we would have left on the first night and flown back home to the United States. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and I want a refund on this trip. I can not believe this is how Hyatt treats their guests and lets them stay in filth like this and has the audacity to call this a resort.
