1. The WC close to the beach is unsanitary. They do not have running water, no flushing, no toilet paper! 2. chairs on the beach are in poor shape, some broken Other than that I enjoyed the beach, hotel is nice architecture. Stuff is great and they do their best with what they have.
Amazing Resort

Beach - This was the best part. Cuba has one of the best beaches in the world, White sand and crystal-clear water. Beach was a 7 mins walk from the hotel. They have a buggy service too for pick up and drop off Rooms - I had got the room on the 2nd floor where the main lobby is. Room was fully functional, comfortable and spacious, it had the marina view. The only issue was hot water, sometimes it's hot or else bath with cold water. I had slow wifi connection in the room, enough to run my whatsapp. Service - Cleaning staff, bar tenders, buffet chefs and waiters all of them were smiling, friendly and happy to help. You tip them and will give you top notch service. Food - Being a Vegetarian, things were different for me. We would always get fruits, salads, live counters for pizza, pastas and fried rice with vegetable. You would never go hungry. But the food becomes monotonous after 3-4 days. Sp Thanks to Chef Elisio Reis who made good vegetarian dishes for us. Excursions - I would recommend taking the Catamaran tour with dolphins, it was amazing. You could touch and hug the dolphin. Dolphin also takes you for a ride with an extra tip. Definitely worth it. For the cost, it was really worth it. I would definitely visit again.
Cuba is great and the people are even better.

Great resort is great. Very beautiful. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. The people are great ??. The pool is very big and beautiful. The beach is gorgeous, big and the water is very warm. Everything is fabulous here but I didn't enjoy the food at the buffet. Very few options and food is often repeated from lunch to dinner. Service is great.
Just Say No!

We booked The Level which is described as a VIP experience for an additional US $35/day. We were advised prior to the trip that the elevators were not working. We attempted to keep our room on the 6th floor but after a day of walking up & down the stairs and the fact that there were almost no other guests on that floor, we asked to move to a lower floor. It took a full day to accommodate the change even when the resort was very quiet - not many guests. The majority of the ala cartes were not open, assuming it was due to the limited number of guests in the hotel. They often ran out of wine and one day, the buffet ran out of coffee. The Level states that the room includes a stocked fridge, a private pool, private dining room, a coffee maker with pods etc. None of these were part of the experience. When we spoke to our Level contacts, they told us that the contracts were renegotiated and none of these options were available now but they did charge us nontheless. Julia & Vladimir (Level concierges) were lovely and helped as they could, but their hands were tied and there was nothing they could do. They did bring a coffee maker into the room but didn't have any coffee to give us - they said we could bring our own! We didn't get blankets on our beds, only sheets. It was chilly due to the air conditioning that we could not turn off so we had to use our beach towels as blankets. I've stayed with Melia 3 times prior (Jardines del Ray) and the experiences were wonderful but this location was very disappointing. The hotel was fine, the pool was fine, but the resort certainly did not meet my previous experiences with Melia. The front desk staff and the restaurant staff were curt (with the exception of a few) despite the fact that we started out tipping very well. The entire experience was disappointing. We did take a day trip to Havana and our driver Leo and guide Gustavo were fabulous. We went into Varadero for dinner at La Rampa and the food was incredible! We were the only people on the flight that stayed at this resort and speaking with some folks that stayed at the Melia International, they said they had a wonderful experience at their resort. All in all, Melia Marina is not a location I would recommend and I don't state that lightly!
