Had a lovely relaxing 2 weeks at the great hotel , had a signature room on the third floor big balcony over looking the fountain , would have liked to be upgraded seeing that it was our special anniversary , but were never that lucky , nice touch with wine and champagne in the fridge for us. That beach is amazing we never went round the pool in the whole two weeks , the sea was so warm, food was very tasty , both at the restaurant and the beach bar loved all the fish dishes so good. umi and Sizzle were amazing , all the staff were very friendly over all we had an amazing time met some lovely people , loved Barbados ????

A very welcome break with my partner

I had stayed at the Savannah Beach Hotel twice but deceided if I ever came back to Barbados to try Sugar Bay. Sugar Bay is a 100% better than the Savannah, the only improvement I would have liked is a mini bar in our room. The majority of the staff are great and the rooms near the pool where were stayed had been refurbished and were very comfortable and in an excellent position. The food in the steakhouse was great and we eat there three times during our stay. The food in the main restaurant very good but sometimes things did not go with things, on the Sunday they do roast beef with yorkshire pudding but the vegetable are deep fried and NO mash or roast potatoes. Towards the latter part of our final week we did find the food got a bit boring. However, I would return to Sugar Bay in a heartbeat if we were to return to Barbados. One staff mention for Kay and Angela also Nye who seemed to be worked off her feet carrying heavy boxes of glasses up and down stairs too much for a young girl.

    Disappointed ...

The hotel is in a nice location. We booked a room called “Signature Garden View Room.” Pictures of such room was totally misleading because what we got could never be called a view. Rm 121 should not be listed as such! The rm phone never worked while we were there, and each time I needed to reach the front desk I had to use my mobile. I was told the phone line had some issues that couldn’t be fixed right away. The beach is beautiful, but it’s horrible to be relaxing in a cabana on the beach and you’re bombarded with the smell of cigarette smoke from other guests. We had to keep moving to move further away from the smell. I could’ve sworn it was a smoke free property. You should have a designated smoking area because as a non smoker I loathe being exposed to second hand smoke, and smelling the stench of it while I’m on the beach relaxing. The staff at Umi including the chef were friendly, and the food was good as well as the food at the Reef. The nightly entertainment was good especially the all girl band.

    Wonderful Resort - Highly Recommended

We have recently had the best holiday on the beautiful island of Barbados and Sugar Bay did us proud. Our first room was on the ground floor and we had no view, just trees which made the room quite dark. However, they were very happy to help us move rooms and we then had a lovely room on the second floor with a lovely view. The staff are unfailingly helpful, always happy and extremely friendly. Our room (and everywhere) very clean. Fridges topped up with bottles of water everyday. The food in all the restaurants was delicious. Reef restaurant is a buffet with good variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sizzle is a steak restaurant (with other things on the menu other than steak), lovely food but very hot up in Sizzle. Umi was our favourite restaurant with delicious Asian food. The chef was so freindly and always came over to chat. Afternoon rea was also delcious, served on the decking of the Reef restaurant. Although, on several occasions we took some food up to our room to enjoy on our balcony. All food is thanks to Tom (Head Chef) and his staff. One member of staff made our holiday and she was Andrea on the omlette station. I recommend her omlettes, so delicious (she will do fried and poached eggs if you ask), she always had a smile on her face and such an infectious laugh. So great to start your day. Lots of loungers and umbrellas by the pool, so no need to put towels down. Also, plenty of loungers and umbrellas on the beach. If you need another lounger/umbrella just ask the guys at the towel hut. They are SO friendly and helpful. We were also pleased we took our waterproof beach shoes as there are a few rocks in the water but mainly lovely swimming beach. The waitors come along to take any order you want to give them. The bar staff are happy and friendly and remember what you are drinking and keep your drinks topped up before you even ask. You can walk along the coast in both directions very easily. If you want to visist other towns along the coast e.g. Bridgetown, don't both calling a taxi (which will cost you $20, just walk up to the road and jump on a mini bus type taxi. They shout out as they go by where they are going and are every few minutes. We went into Bridgetown and caught one of these taxi's, cost us under $2 each. So easy. THANK YOU SUGAR BAY, DEFINITELY COMING BACK. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This being our first trip I dont have alot to base my opinion on. That being said this place was Fantastic!. The buffet was more than I had hoped for after hearing stories of hotdogs from a friends trip to another resort. All buffets had an abundant choice of local and "tourist" cuisine. My favorite dish however had to be the braised lamb available for lunch somedays. Everything was great though. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The bartenders were on point and they certainly new how to mix strong drinks in proper glasses. Snorkeling and swimming were amazing with pufferfish and octopus right there along the break wall. Also watched turtles every night just a few feet from sure. Watersports staff were very helpfull with advice. Love this place cant wait to go back.
