Yes it's true we were moved to their sister resort for our trip during new years and were not told anything. Also when we got to the new resort we are then told that we have to pay 50% for room service and extra for the special dinners and such. Room we were given was a very partial ocean view so we paid to upgrade but this whole mess was very unprofessional and resort should have given us the option to make other arrangements or go to sister resort....
The hotel is CLOSED!

I have written the review as well on booking but they have deleted it! We made a reservation 5 days prior to the vacation on 23 of December 2020 I have received an email confirmation that the hotel and the reservation is confirmed, I have received a msg on booking app that everything is confirmed, then we arrive to the hotel at 9 pm at night and apparently the hotel is closed for the past 2 weeks! They transferred us to a time share hotel witch was not all inclusive like I paid for. The receptionist told me “but lady why you complain we got you upgrade “ of course you get me upgrade! By law if you are being transferred they have to upgrade you one level above what you order. The hotel we got transferred to - staff was so not polite literally ruined my vacation.

We loved it here! The grounds, food and entertainment are all so perfect. We had a great time playing tequila volleyball. We loved Natalie singing and dancing during the dinner, she is awesome:) everything was very fun.

I booked a trip here in June of this year. I planned several activities with pick up from this resort as well. When we arrived, we were directed to another resort owned by the same company. The resort we ended up at was very nice, but I had to change all my booking information which was pretty inconvenient. According to the staff, Solmar has been closed most of the year and was set to reopen on October 1st. 3 stars because they accommodated us well after the fact, -2 stars for never communicating that my destination in a foreign country was not open.

Clean and beautiful resort! Playa Grande. Service was great. We didn't fall for any sales pitch. Didn't care that you couldn't swim at the beach as the pools and swim up bar were awesome! Yes food a little more than on the outside, but your paying resort prices and the convenience. My only complaint is the noise in the rooms. The floors are tile , as it's pretty hot and humid. But if you have loud upstairs neighbors that are not considerate, it could make for a sleepless night. Would definitely recommend this resort!
