Great first trip to Mazatlan
Barbara P (Santa Cruz, California) on Apr 13, 2024
What a great resort! We stayed 2 nights after previous days in an Airbnb with some friends. From the moment we arrived, we were greeting with smiles. We arrived earlier than check in time but were nicely accommodated with a room upgrade as well ( we asked and paid for it). Beautiful room in Bldg B down by cool pool. Enjoyed the poolside snacks daily along with a wonderful breakfast buffet! Went to El Cid Castillo for Italian one night. Grounds are beautifully maintained and lush. Went to private beach on the second day and it is gorgeous, fun little boat ride over. The staff here are all amazing and it is reason enough to return. It was our first time to Mazatlan ( came for eclipse) and we loved it!
Easy and peaceful

Visited here with my 16 month old and parents on an all-inclusive package. We had a one-bedroom suite and my parents were in a junior suite, the rooms were adjoining. This set up worked great with a little one. We had absolutely no difficulties with this resort, which is what I want at an all inclusive. Everything was clean, the staff were (almost all) consistently wonderful, and the food was great with enough variety. The drinks were also good. I have severe nut allergies, there are peanuts on the buffet in a jar for every meal and some kind of granola on the fruit in the morning. The staff couldn't address my allergies much but did get me fruit from the back when I asked. I didn't have any allergy concerns at the pool or beach bars. This resort appears to cater to more of a retired clientele and there were some families with young children. I do not think this is somewhere I would choose to go with school-aged children as it is a small resort and activities are limited. People can travel to the other El Cid resorts which seem much better suited for that age group. There is absolutely nothing to do at the Marina at night, there is one bar open in the evening but it is indoors which didn't feel appealing. There is a club right across the street and I saw a few more nearby if someone wants a quiet resort but the option for nightlife. The ocean is not the best for swimming in, we were fairly wary of the big waves and "caution stingray" flag. There never seemed to be anyone in it. The beach is easy to get to and very peaceful. We also were not once approached by their sales team, much to our great pleasure! However, the people we spoke to who have time shares at this property seemed very happy with it. After visiting a very large time share in Puerto Vallarta, the Marina felt like a dream! So easy and peaceful, also, the Mazatlan airport took us 30 mins from deplaning to get to the bus area, the PV airport took 3 hours. We considered taking a taxi from the airport to the Marina as there was an accident and the busses were late, we were told it was 500p.
