Third time will not be a charm for us...

Every time we try to give this place a chance, something goes wrong so we've realized that this is just one of those places that's not for us and we should stick to going to places where we know there won't be any issues whatsoever. First off, if you are traveling from NY to Jamaica, save yourself a trip and go elsewhere; Aruba or Mexico for e.g. because despite all the efforts you take to ensure you can enjoy yourself, it may be for naught. So this is our second time staying here and against my better judgment, I was determined to give it another shot since I booked one week in December 2020 and was debating if we should stay two weeks there. I guess this trip was a blessing in disguise *shrugs shoulders* We traveled from NY to MBJ on July 25th and returned to NY on July 26th; we spent approximately 25 hours in Jamaica and that was by far the most disappointing experience we've had traveling; we travel quiet extensively but this is home for us and there is no place like home, right. We may need to rethink that saying. So after traveling from NY (getting tested), arriving at MBJ and doing temperature checks 3x, which were all 97.3, we arrived at the hotel and my husband's temperature check was okay so he went to check us in; bad idea. When it was my turn to have my temperature checked, my temperature was a little elevated; I am 100% sure that this was because we drove from MBJ to Negril enjoying the warm temperature because I was "happy" to be home and I wanted to take in the warm temp even though I have to stay cool because of my sensitivity to heat. Nonetheless, I was excited for this trip as this would be the first time in 23 years that I would celebrate my birthday home. Well, that turned out as great as expected *sarcasm intended* So as I said, the thermometer beeped and the guy who took it told me to cool down because it could be the heat, which I agreed. We decided to go get some food to eat and when we returned, they took my temperature again which was normal; by this time, my temperature was taken more than 7x with most coming back with a normal reading. I thought that was the end of that so we proceed to the front desk, at which point we were met by a lady who basically told me I had to quarantine for 2 hours per their doctor's recommendation; she did introduce herself before but I'm giving a summary here. Naturally, I was not happy but we proceeded to the room, which was the worse room location on the property; room 323 is definitely their Covid room. After 2 hours, they came back to take my temperature and they had to try multiple times again because the thermometer was not working. It would not take my temp. One of the lady's asked, are you really here (because it would not take my temp) and the other lady walked away with the thermometer (don't know to do what) and when she came back, it worked and my temp was normal. Trying to salvage the few days we had, I asked for a room change which they said they would look into and then I asked, can we move around now and they said yes. We took a walk and while I tried to change the mood and get in better spirits, we couldn't fake it. Plus, like I said, the room was horrible. So we came back to the room and I called Jetblue to get the next flight out, which was the following day. I didn't find out that we were getting a room change until we were checking out; maybe if this was communicated to us the day before, we would have stayed. Maybe...in any event, the porter saw us and he and the lovely lady at the front desk were surprised that we were leaving so soon. The lady asked if everything was okay and if they did anything wrong and I looked at my husband, smiled and said no because the night before and that morning was an emotionally draining and disappointing days. So, I said no. Before I left, I asked, (per the Jetblue rep's advice) if I could have a refund of the unused nights and she said since it was booked through a 3rd party, I would have to go through them. No biggie, we left with a smile. Fast forward to yesterday (August 5) when I followed up with Jetblue to see if they got a response to our request for a refund for the unused nights. Had they responded that once you check in, there is no refund for unused nights, that would have been it. But no, that was not sufficient. The rep said evidently I just upped and left and I didn't complain about anything and I just left without saying anything at all to them. Now, I can read that multiple ways but since it's a relatively slow time for them all things considered, they know who we were and to say we just upped and left, as if we checking in went smoothly and we were pleased with the room is beyond bulls*it. You definitely know why we left because I expressed my frustration multiple times to the lady (she's in sales) about the experience and we talked about us understanding what they have to comply with and I shared that I understood but you can also see from our end that after going through all that to get here, to be told we have to quarantine because if you take your temp 10x and one reading comes back abnormal, that's grounds for ask you to quarantine is CRAZY! Now, you may say okay you have to quarantine for 2 hours what's the big deal. The big deal is every time you leave the property, you must do a temperature check to get back on. So, if we do any tours outside and I come back hot as hell, we have to quarantine every day...that's one of the issues. Also, like I said, the room was horrible. If you get room 323, ask for something else! Let me be clear, this review is not only based on the check in experience (had this been the only issue, I would have given it 3 stars and kept our plans for December to stay there). The response given was not only inaccurate but uncalled for in my opinion. If you're in customer service, you should know that less is more. The added "jab" was unwarranted. So with that being said, we will avoid this place like the plague going forward since it seems we can never enjoy ourselves without an issue and just stick to places where we feel welcomed.

I just recently I arrived home in the US after 14 day stay at Coco. (July 16-30). As a returning guest, I wasn't sure how "normal" things would be as I checked in the day after you re-opened. But as usual, my expectations were exceeded! From the front desk staff, to maintenance and landscaping, to housekeeping and food and beverage staff... everything was really on point. It was as if you picked right back up where you left off in March. In my opinion, that also speaks very highly of the management staff. In fact, I actually extended my stay twice. Also, big shout out to sales for providing me such a good rate directly through the hotel for my second extension. I love Negril and the people of Jamaica. Words can't really explain how I feel. But I do know that Negril would not be the same without Coco La Palm. Thanks again for a wonderful 2 week stay and I look forward to reaching back soon.

Great place to stay but losing their personal touch

We stayed here for a second time on our trip to Negril. The beach is fantastic and the location is great. We were not impressed with our room - paid much more than we had two years prior and booked the same category of room. In years past staff were very friendly and accommodating, we did not notice this as much either. I think we'll look elsewhere next time. Don't get me wrong, the rooms are generally clean, and the resort is well taken care of but the personalization is missing.

Amazing staff with well taken care of hotel.

We’ve stayed in Jamaica 6 times and I would rank this as my favorite “hotel style” place. David at the front desk was such a friendly and relaxed man. Our rooms were nicely cleaned each day. The wait staff and bartenders are timely and nice and the food is good. The hotel itself has such a beautiful lush garden that is well taken care of. Making arrangements for excursions was easy. The massages were amazing. The beach security and lifeguards were really good at what they do!! They worked long hours and continued to keep moving to keep the place/beach tidy and also keep company that you were not interested in away. Well done guys!! The beach area is beautiful and has lots of space to chill. We like to roam around to other places to eat and visit and felt very safe doing so along the entire seven mile beach during the day and even at night. The hot tub was perfectly hot and was a great way to top off each day. Loved the tree frogs at night. You should be proud of every single one of your staff! THEY made it a great place to stay.

Great location in the middle of many fine resorts. Lots of good restaurants in walking distance. Great staff. Two nice pools. Rooms Are very clean but could use a little update. Overall it’s one of the best on Negril’s 7 mile beach.
