This hotel is located right in the middle of all the action in Times Square! At check in we requested a room with a view overlooking Time Square, and our wish was granted! Had an excellent view from the 44th floor overlooking the New Years ball. Also, in the distance between the skyscrapers we had a view of the State of Liberty. We were in room 4436. We felt VERY secure at this hotel. You can't get past the guard without your key. Then once past the guard, you can't get on an elevator until you get your key. Then once on the elevator, you're only allowed to access the floor you're staying on. We loved this hotel and hope to stay here again in the future.

New review, So after getting a call from Tony I decided to re-evaluate my review, forgive me for forgetting his last name. I spoke with Tony, who called right away after reading my review. We spoke for awhile on the phone and it was not a typical blah conversation. It was like speaking to an actual human being. He let me speak, didn’t get defensive and gave me a sincere apology. Now in my opinion whoever the manager was on duty that day should be re-trained or let go for not doing her best at the job she has accepted, however, this is just my opinion. Tony was able to get me taken care of and I feel I owe it to him and the Marriott brand for a new review. I will leave the old review below along with Tony’s response. I switched the rating from terrible to average. This average response will remain because of what happened that day and the fact the hotel was under different operating procedures due to Covid. I will gladly stay again in another trip to manhattan as I normally stay true to the Marriott brand. FYI, Tony, nor Marriott has asked me to redo my review, or remove it. It’s now going on 55 minutes. My fiancé has called downstairs twice to get soap. All 3 dispensers are out. I understand there’s a pandemic and they are short on staff, well from what the lady downstairs said they have one housekeeper for a 40+ story hotel SMH... just one. I don’t understand how they can leave a guest waiting for toiletries. My room is freezing cause we like it that way and I don’t want to step out and back in and risk being sick... yes I guess I am being petty, but why would this be my fault. The staff is rude, besides the lady who checked us in (she was nice), and the manager is worse. I’ve stayed at plenty of Marriotts, and I actually am a builder who has built the Marriott brand. This Marriott does not hold up brand standards. The gym is open from 5:30 to 11:30, and in my opinion those are just weird hours. It’s like they are trying to force you in and out. There is no breakfast so you have to order or leave, which leaves you no time really hit the gym unless you disturb your sleep. It was really noisy last night in the hotel for a 10-20% occupancy so I’m “guessing” they are loading the floors. As I write this I am still waiting for toiletries. Why can’t the manager just bring them herself? This is not leadership. She should be fired for running the Marriott brand in this way. Looks like I should have used our timeshare instead. Now my question is, why were the containers not filled in the first place when the room was initially cleaned. We will be leaving and I will just eat the cost and book elsewhere. I’m not going to let Marriott or their rude manager ruin my stay in New York. I put the day of stay and the room number so they know. We will call Priceline to see if they can help us with a reimbursement for our own toiletries which my fiancé has just left to buy or a refund for the room. We are leaving! Hi, I apologize for the experience you had during your stay at our hotel. We fell short of your expectations, and quite frankly - our own judging by the feedback you provided. I will take your feedback and share with our team as a retraining opportunity.

    Beautiful hotel- during Covid

I had stayed here years ago and decided to come back. I thought the hotel did a great job of security and enforcing Covid rules. Staff was courteous and room was excellent. My only complaint is the ice. I grabbed the ice bucket to find some ice and after circling the floor, could not find any. Most nice hotels have a guide of some kind which details the amenities in the hotel and where to find them. I searched the room and found no guidebook or map of hotel. I attempted to look online and only found reference that the hotel had ice machines. I tried the front desk and on the third try, they answered and said if I wanted ice, I would need to come down to the third floor, from my 35th floor, and ask them to get ice for me. I realize Covid is drastically changing how hotels are being run, but when paying 400+ dollars to stay at a hotel, it would have been nice for them to offer to bring the ice to me. I just gave up after that. I would like to say that the cleaning staff were very friendly! More friendly than the staff in the lobby.

All my belongings got stolen by their staff

I stayed at Marriott Marquis for almost a month. One day, ALL my belongings in the room including my cardigan, handbag, scarf, makeup.. EVERYTHING were gone. I checked with their front desk manager, he said the housekeeper thought i already checked out (actually the room was fully paid till the week after) and took all my stuff to the lost & found. But then no one had a record for that and no one could ever find a single item from the lost & found. I reported to Marriott and to the police but the hotel replied it's not their responsibility & didn't bother to investigate or seriously handle the case. Ridiculous! The front desk manager confirmed that the housekeeper took all my belongings to the Lost & Found when I first discovered my belongings were gone. But the hotel very soon tried to deny their responsibility and walk away. They don't care the safety of your life and properties for staying at their hotel!!!!!!!! WATCH OUT!

Excellent location, directly on Times Square. Spacious room, very comfortable and perfectly clean. Beautiful view of the Hudson through the window. Due to covid health measures, no breakfast or fitness room.
