I fully understand and support the need for COVID precautions. But the response needs to be better thought through at this property. Upon check-in I was told there would be no daily housekeeping service. I'm OK with that. But why wasn't there more than one day's supply of soap and shampoo left in the room? I found a friendly housekeeper who was happy to provide additional supplies, but why did I have to ask? When a guest checks in for multiple days and housekeeping isn't provided daily, why not stock the room with additional supplies? Ditto for the coffee. Duh... I also understand the hot buffet breakfast had to be suspended. But the substitute was a joke. I picked up a heavy bag in the lobby to take back to my room. The bag was heavy as it contained a 20 oz. bottle of water. Other than that there was a pre-wrapped muffin, granola bar and a small orange without a knife to slice it. Yikes! No juice, no other fruit, no yogurt, nothing substantial. One has to wonder how much money is being saved by the closure of the buffet breakfast, and whether the hotel should honestly claim that breakfast is no longer served. What I received could barely qualify as a snack. As a Titanium member I would have expected something more, perhaps from the market shop or a voucher to use in a local restaurant. As there was no refrigerator in the room, I couldn't keep anything overnight, so I just skipped breakfast most days. The staff here were all very pleasant and helpful, without exception, but the lack of care in offsetting COVID restrictions was most unfortunate.

Obviously the location is ideal, right in the middle of everything. Plenty of sidewalk vendors with a wide variety of foods. Just about everything you need is within walking distance. As for the hotel itself, it is clean, quiet, and secure. The staff is fantastic, check-in and check-out was seamless and quick. Highly recommended if your travels send you to the Big Apple.

I was going to NYC for the night for a short trip, and wanted to stay close to Penn Station, and this hotel was probably the closest to it. The front desk help was very nice when i checked in. I had a room on the 15th floor, with a view of the city buildings. Now here are when things started to go wrong. The TV remote control didn't have batteries in it, so the front desk person had to come up with a replacement. As i was scrolling through the stations, i noticed that CBS and NBC were not working. I called the front desk again, and he stated that he would have the electrician look into it. NBC did start to work before the KC/Texans game, but then it really got choppy, so I had to start watching the game on my IPad. Yes, that was so annoying. By the second half of the game, the tv started to work again. Another complaint I would have is that the HVAC never seemed to get to the temperature that i wanted. It was very muggy outside, and i had the ac down to 65 but it felt like it was 75 to 80 in the room. As for the room itself, it was small, but for a single traveler it was good enough. The bathroom was nice, with a nice big shower. The bed was comfy, and the windows were thick enough so I did not hear a sound from outside. If the TV and HVAC wasn't a problem, i would probably stay here again, but next time i might look at another Marriott property.

I stayed here with friends in February for 5 nights. The location is really what makes this hotel. It’s close to all the big hotspots in the city and there’s a subway on the same street which is handy. On arrival we did have to put a deposit down in case there was any damage to the room after our stay. We got this back on departure. The hotel lobby is pleasant and the team on reception friendly. We stayed in a double room (2 double beds). The room itself was comfortable enough although as we were four girls sharing two beds, we found the beds a little small. Otherwise we couldn’t fault the room. We opted for bed and breakfast. Good choice of food in the mornings. Standard offerings I’d say. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would fully recommend.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the past few years. Check in and check out have always been smooth and easy. I love the location right by Penn Station and all subway lines. The beds are always comfortable and allow me to get a great night's sleep. On my last stay I faced an issue that I wish I had pressed for a better solution. But hindsight is 20/20, right? When I checked in around 1PM I smelled an odor of rubbing alcohol in the bathroom. Thinking nothing of it, I left to go meet up with friends. When I returned to the room at 10:30pm the smell was overwhelming. I called down to the front desk and asked if there was another room I could move to due to the odor. The gentleman who answered immediately told me no, but he would send up maintenance. Someone came up 10 minutes later who immediately commented on the overwhelming smell upon opening the door, he then sprayed air freshener, and blew a fan for about 5 minutes. At this point I should have called down and demanded another room at the hotel or another Fairfield close by, but I stupidly didn't. When I work up the next morning I had a headache and my eyes were burning. My eyes were burning so much that I was unable to put my contacts lenses in. When I checked out I informed the front desk of the odor and I was given Marriott points for my troubles. It took a full day for my eyes to stop burning and for the headache to go away. This is the first time I ever encountered this problem and also lack of interest in taking care of me as a customer from the hotel. It has caused me to question staying there again in the near future. In hindsight I wish I had spoken up more for myself in regards to my needs and health.
