Possibly the worst our worst hotel experience ever

Let me preface this by saying that I am a fairly seasoned traveller who always looks for the positives in my stays. I always leave honest reviews the vast majority of which have been positive. And, I consider it an absolute privilege to travel and only complain when it is absolutely necessary. On this occasion it is necessary. Let me start with the positive - this hotel is well positioned in Palm Springs, one Street back from the main thoroughfare and on walking into reception, I received a warm greeting and was checked in very efficiently. Then it went downhill - and rapidly. I drove almost 400 miles to get to this hotel and the last thing I wanted to do was circle aimlessly looking for a parking space for the best part of 20 minutes. I didn't find one and the option of using public parking and being required to move my car every 3 hours (including through the night) was less than appealing. I therefore had no option but to shoehorn my car into a small area of the car park that was marked as a no-parking zone. My wife and I had booked a two night stopover here to chill by the pool after 6 days of hiking in the mountains with a view to recuperating before our city break in San Diego. The carnage that was the pool left us in absolute horror - drunken adults shouting, screaming and consuming alcohol in a pool you could hardly see became it was so full! Not the quiet, relaxing stopover we were looking for! The decision was made within an hour that this was not for us and, had our hotel in San Diego had availability for that night, I would have happily got back in the car and driven there. Unfortunately, they only had availability for the next night so we were stuck here for one night - the upside was a great meal at Bongo Johnny's (see my separate review). And what a night of carnage that turned out to be. I was awakened at 0200 by a young lady falling over the chairs outside our room before vomitting and retching for over 15 minutes. Then the all male party in the room next door arrived back at 0230 and proceeded to recount their night at full volume before calling home at full volume and then returning to their conversation at full volume. I eventually got back to sleep around 0400 before getting up and packing to leave at 0600. On leaving the room, the smell of cigarette smoke was abhorrent and the crushed out stubs clear evidence that those who frequent this place have no regard for the no smoking policy and the hotel has no desire to manage it effectively. At check out I was asked if I had had a nice stay to which I replied 'no, it was awful and that's why we are leaving a day early.' To which the response was 'well you are all paid so you are good to go.'. No enquiry as to why our stay had been horrific, no empathy, no interest, just a knowing look that said 'yeah, I'm not surprised.' So having booked and paid for a two night stay, we lasted a total of 14 and a half hours in this place - probably about 14 too long in my book. If you are looking for somewhere to get completely wrecked, shout 'Spring Break' at the top of your lungs and be a genuine blot on society's goodwill then this may well be the place for you but if you are a normal, considerate human being who wants a quiet stopover on your vacation, look elsewhere!

Great location. Super clean spacious rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend this location to anybody. We had king room on the courtyard. Nice and private with our own fire pit. But also spent time around the pool. Again would recommend to anybody.

    Great Stay.

The hotel is set against a mountain backdrop and has a Spanish villa type of look - the grounds are well kept and the pool area was nice with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. There were also fire pits and lounge furniture. The room had everything you need from safe, fridge, microwave and pool towels but could do with an interior facelift as it was a bit tired. The beds were comfy though. The staff were helpful and friendly. There was a small shop in reception for water etc which was sold at supermarket prices.

They played a movie at night in the pool area, had corn hole set up in a grass area next to the pool and fruit trees in the property. There were fun table games set up in the common area near check in. The property was very child friendly and had pool items on hand. Overall, this was a nice and fun place to stay for the night!
