If you were me you would not come or come back. After driving 5.5 hours, we were looking forward to a nice weekend, instead we were just irritated by the whole check in experience and the way the staff handled it. When we arrived they have plexiglass up in front of employees and all you can hear when trying to check in is everyone yelling next to you echoing while they are checking in and you cannot hear the person trying to check you in. We arrived at 3:30pm with check-in at 4pm. We were told our room was not quite ready yet, but it would be not too long, they were just finishing up. They do not have a restaurant open or anywhere to have a drink and relax while you wait so they suggested we go get a bite to eat down the street so we did. They said they would text us when room was ready. At exactly 4pm, (exact check in time magically) we got the text our room was ready. We head back and they said our room wasn’t ready, that something happened and it would be a bit longer, but to go take a look at this other room and if we did not like it, then they would find us another room. After looking at the room, wife calls them (mind you this was about 5 min after they told us our room was not ready) and they said they are sold out. We asked about the other room and they said it was booked and no longer available. So we asked to see another room and they said they were completely booked. How did this happen in 5 minutes. So then we asked about our pool reservation that we made the day before and they had no record of it. So then I call, because at this point, I’m frustrated to put it nicely, by the whole experience. I speak to the “room specialist” that the wife talked to and she began making things up and saying that my wife asked for certain things, when i was right there the whole time and know what she said. She also tried to tell me that the girl that checked us in, didn’t say the things she said, and then said she actually spoke to her and the girl was apologetic. It was bad, and frustrating. She then began to say something about accommodating us with another room after she said they were completely booked out. So they had someone take us to another room which we passed on. If you were on the phone, you would be able to tell, they were just covering things up and not being honest. A week prior I received an offer to stay here for $299 for 4 nights for a timeshare presentation. So I am assuming what happened is, they were saving good spots for those people to impress to get them to buy into their program and the rest of us get what is left over. I’ve stayed at quite a few Westin’s and I would not say this is not Westin Quality, in bedding or service. Very disappointed. Room is fine, small, balcony is large. Has kitchenette, fridge, sink, dishwasher, couch, desk, small dining table.

    Extremely Poor Vistana Owner Services

I am a dual owner at two of Marriott's timeshare resorts including this Westin. I have been trying to reach Vistana regarding my ownership options here and have been unable to reach them despite numerous attempts. I have made at least 10 calls including listening to their multiple prompts before being transferred and then getting nothing but a busy signal and disconnected. What is really aggravating is the prompts continually remind you that "rest assured we are focused on quality..." and we "understand your time is valuable..." BUT PLEASE CONTINUE TO HOLD and then the transfer, busy signal and disconnect. I finally decided to do their "live chat" but it was "UNAVAILABLE at this time. I then tried messaging them only to be told by an automated messaging system (not a human) that they would get back to me in 2 business days!!! The last straw was about 1 hour later I receive an email telling me that there would be a further delay in responding to me beyond the than 2 days!!! Yes my time is valuable and I have wasted in excess of 3 hours trying to reach you people and NO I don't believe you are focused on quality and providing acceptable customer support! I can honestly say it was NEVER like that when this property was serviced by Starwood/Westin Owner Services. It was their quality of service and solid reputation for customer/owner satisfaction that convinced me to purchase my time share and since the Marriott takeover most aspects of this property have declined while my costs have risen significantly!!! WHAT A DEAL!!!!

We last stayed at this resort over ten years ago. At that time, The Villas (the time-share section) and hotel were considered one large property. You checked in at the hotel and were directed over to the villas. On this visit, we checked in at the Villas. The entrance gate area can get congested with cars coming and going. There is not a lot of room and I’m surprised there was never a car accident during our 14 day stay. There was no sign directing me where the front desk was located. When I did find it, I obtained my room key and was given a map on how to get to my room. I was not told if the restaurant was open, if there was a coffee shop located on the grounds, or if both pools were open. I later learned I should have been given a parking pass. As I stated, this resort used to be part of the Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa which is located next to it and there is a walking path connecting the two properties. The Villas website advertises their one restaurant on their property (Seasons Grill) but also states you can go to their sister resort, Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa for five more restaurant choices. The problem I have is as I take the walking path to Westin Resort & Spa, I am met by a makeshift roadblock and a sign telling me that access beyond that point is for hotel guests not Villa guests. Guests from both properties didn’t like this and knocked down the sign and barricade almost every day. See pictures attached. Toward the end of my stay, I did learn from another Villas guest that their room key not only worked at the one open pool at the Villas but it also worked at the “quiet” pool at the hotel. Not sure if that was an accident or intentional that his room key worked at both locations. If Villas guests were allowed to used the hotel pools then what is the deal with the barricade and sign? The Pete Dye Golf Course, which is a public course, is the back drop to this resort. To my knowledge, guests of the Villas don’t get a deal to golf on this course. See the Front Desk for more specifics. We stayed in a one bedroom smaller villa (queen bed) that can sleep four people. It’s the lock-off room of a one bedroom Villa with King size bed. Four adults in this size room would be a challenge. The room was clean with new appliances (fridge, microwave & dishwasher). The tiny kitchen has almost no counter space. There is no oven, only an electric cooktop. There is nowhere to store dry goods. The cabinet doors slam shut loudly along with the dresser drawers. There is a washer and dryer in the room. When the washer is in use, it is so loud you can’t hold a conversation in the room without raising your voice. All the buildings are two stories and there are no elevators. Each unit has their own private patio area. There was a safe in the room which can fit a laptop in it. There is free, unsecured WiFi. The televisions are not Smart TV’s so you can’t sign into your personal Hulu, Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts. Using a Roku can only work on the bedroom TV because you can’t access the back of the wall mounted living area TV. The room decor could use some updating to go along with the new appliances. Pets are not allowed at the Villas unless it is a certified service animal. The property has two pools but only one was open and they were requiring reservations for a two hour time limit due to COVID rules. There were signs on the pool lounge chairs letting you know they had been disinfected. I might believe this if I hadn’t seen a worker wiping the signs on the chairs but not the lounge chairs themselves! The Villas were at less than 50% capacity when we checked in. By the time we left, they were close to 100% capacity. All social distancing and pool reservations seemed to be disregarded. There were more guests not wearing face coverings when they couldn’t social distance as well. As with all Marriott properties, a face covering is required when in public areas. Housekeeping will only come in upon request and when you are not in your room. If you need towels, garbage taken away, dish soap, etc., all you have to do is call the front desk. After you make the request, the front desk will call back later to ensure your request was satisfied. The grounds of the property were always being attended to by Southwest Landscaping and they look great. The Villas are located less than two miles away from Costco. Just under ten miles away from downtown Palm Springs. There is a Walgreens within walking distance. A Walmart Super Center is 1.6 miles away. Ralph’s Grocery Store is 4.2 miles away. You have several hiking trail options all less than ten miles away. A must stop for a date shake when in the area is Shields Date Garden which is 13 miles away. Joshua Tree National Park is 45 miles away. This is a timeshare property and they will ask you to participate in a sales pitch. We are owners in the network and declined the sales pitch at this resort. We did learn from other guests that there was a guest who became irate with one of the sales persons. Apparently, the sales person made one offer and then changed the offer in the final contract. Be cautious of any bait and switch tactics if you elect to go to the sales pitch.

I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a resort in my life. This resort is out in the middle of nowhere and has almost no amenities whatsoever except a small swimming pool and a nearby golf course. The large swimming pool is closed. And, to add insult to injury, you have to make a reservation to go to the pool, you're only allowed to stay 2 hours, and you have to have a mask on unless you're in the water. All restaurants are permanently closed, no ice makers, no spa, no nothing, other than construction going on. You either have to cook or order in. The closest restaurants that will deliver are five to seven miles away. I can't believe Westin even puts their name on this place. The Villas used to be associated with the Westin Resort that's nearby but now they have broken ties and put up a blockade so you can't even get to the other property. I would not recommend staying at the Westin Mission Hillls Villas at all. I know that the Covid-19 crisis has made things difficult but truly this place has nothing to offer except golf. Choose someplace else and make yourself a much happier person.

We stayed March 7, 2021 to play golf. At 6:30 the first morning, a worker spent 20 minutes directly under our second story window with a leafblower. We complained that morning to the front desk, who displayed a lack of interest.
