We visited Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Wanted to be close to the Phoenix airport on the way home. Thankfully, we picked this hotel. Check In was easy as they gave us a room across from the pool where the service was always on time. Had lunch and drinks. Brett was readily available. Later that afternoon went to the bar for happy hour and ordered food from Rita’s to take to the room. The bartender was great. The grounds are impeccable. Will for sure stay again.

Great Resort amid COVID; horrible toilet seats!

We visited the JW Marriott Camelback Inn recently in the deep throws of COVID 19. Although we were a bit concerned with traveling to the hotspot of Arizona, I was rewarded with a hotel that seemed to put care into virus defense, take the issue seriously, and treat their guests to a relaxing and safe stay away from home. Interactions with the front desk, from check-in, questions, and check out, were all handled professionally and in a manner that made us feel safe and considerate. Although the parking spaces seemed to be fairly occupied, it looked like the hotel attempted to space people out within the many building on property. That resulted in a feeling of social distancing and not having to be too close physically to other resort guests. The temperature was extremely warm the 4 days we were there so we limited travel to only inside buildings and didn't have the chance or want to use the pool. The main open restaurant was Rita's and they too had in place good safety precautions. However, food selection was very limited and we therefore had many meals off property. We elected to get a great deal through Costco which included all resort fees and taxes, as well as a $50/night/room credit. That was put to good use for breakfasts and some drinks in the cantina. Lastly, just wanted to comment on the extremely uncomfortable toilet seat in our room. I guess my thought is that a 4 start resort like the JW could at least install more comfortable seats! These are the cheapest grade of "contractor pack" toilet seat you could possibly purchase!. I've stayed in Days Inns with better product than I experience at the Camelback! At least one star dropped just for this.

I have been to Camelback numerous times and just love staying here at the JW Marriott. The property is truly 5 star and the staff are wonderful. I recently stayed for 5 days (July 2020) in the midst of the pandemic. It broke my heart to see it so empty but they are doing their best to maintain the resort until things return to normal. I never saw a staff member without a mask....to include the staff at the pool in 115 degree heat! They are taking things very seriously there. I want to call out the pool staff (Rey, Kevin) who were friendly and very attentive. The front desk staff were also great. There is definitely a different vibe and maintenance of the grounds beyond the main area is not the standard but it is to be expected. They are doing the best they can. I am very glad I went and I commend the entire staff for hanging in there; I can’t imagine working in this industry at this time. I gave this rating 4 stars but as soon as they are able to return to normal, it will absolutely return to 5 stars!

I don’t know how anyone could gives this place less than 4 stars. We were there over the July 4th holiday and It was a wonderful 4 night stay. Location is perfect-quiet, but close to sites like Echo Canyon trail and downtown Scottsdale. Staff took all necessary precautions for COVID. Our room was beautiful with an incredible view overlooking the resort. Book 618 if you can! Our pool service was fantastic-Bret was very attentive! We had the breakfast every morning and Gigi was a wonderful server. She even went the extra mile and gave us waters and maps for our hiking trip since there was no concierge due to COVID. Some food recommendations—Barrio Queen, DC Ranch’s Jalapeño Inferno, maestro’s was amazing, but $$$. Took trip to Sedona and The Vault had an amazing view with good food.

This hotel allows guests to walk freely in the lobby and in Rita’s without masks. They have rules but make no effort to enforce them. Other hotels and restaurants refuse service to guests who will not comply with public safety. Not this hotel.
