It was our second time at Iberostar Punta de Mita and we had a fantastic time. Food was amazing, staff welcoming and warm, water fantastic. It was a great pampering vacation and I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing stay away from crowds. Rebecca at concierge took great care of us and made sure we have a great stay. Loved it!

Had the most amazing 6 days. The staff was incredible. From the check in to the Concierges, Juanito, Benjamin, and the rest of the staff were incredible. All the waitresses at the pool were constantly making sure we had drinks, the bartenders were so friendly and helpful. The food was very good. Such a great variety. We are going back next year and staying at least 10 days. You can be as busy as you wavy or you can do nothing. Loved this place!!

My wife, toddler and I stayed in oceanfront suite right next to the beach. View was sensational but due to the moisture and humidity, you will see that the water impacts the room. The resort needs to do a better job of informing the guests of this condition. If you leave the sliding door open for longer than 10 mins and the fan happens to be off, you WILL slip on the floor and it WILL hurt. Me, a 32 year old, decently in shape guy could not prevent it and ultimately hurt my back on a fall. But worse was my 19 month old daughter fell and hurt herself as well. Not pleasant. The room itself is also showing signs of water damage as well. Rusty spots where the seldom used chairs are, rusty mildew spots where the crown molding meets the floor, etc. The concierge staff is also VERY pushy with their timeshare pitch. I know this is common at other resorts as well but because they are so sales hungry, they will bother you and string you along with a zillion “just one more question” questions. And when we finally settled on me doing the timeshare presentation in exchange for a round of golf and a massage, as me and another dad friend are walking away, he casually mentions that I need to bring my wife and toddler to the presentation too. I’m not leaving my toddler with your random staff member so you can bother me for god knows how long in a sales pitch! You should have said that right off the bat instead of decievingly trying to sneak it in. And don’t get excited about the $600 worth of resort credits because it’s a total joke. Definitely not credits, they are just bad and sometimes false coupons. My wife wanted a massage and saw the $25 off coupon so she booked it, went to the spa, was pushed some combo massage and scrub package and then after the fact we were told that the coupon does not apply if it’s a combo promotion. Very annoying. $35 off a $500 Clase Azul Anejo bottle of tequila? What a deal! Time and time again, they do these ticky tack, “oh by the way” excuses to save themselves a buck. Felt very deceiving. If you live in a big city with great food options, you will not think much of the food here. Standard buffet fare across the line. We got tired of it after a few days. The best parts of the resort are the Kids Pool, which our toddler LOVED. Perfect sized slides for a 1 year to 4 old kid. The cafe has very good espresso and a very high quality barista in Tania. I just wish it was closer to the center of the resort and not tucked away in the far corner. It would be wise if they would built an espresso bar above the ocean front suites building. Would have dramatically improved our experience. The lobby bar has great staff, the best selection of drinks and Emmanuel always knew my drink exactly how I liked it. Don Julio reposado on the rocks in the good crystal high ball glass. And the Kids Club was a great non-water space for 2 years to 10 year old kids to hang out with very attentive, fun spirited staff members. Well done by that entire team of young staff. Probably won’t return even with a generic polite response by the staff manager to this review.

We have been coming to Nuevo Vallarta for over 20+ years but always stay south at flamingos beach in Nuevo Vallarta, saw this place last year while visiting Litibu grill down the beach so booked it for 1 week this past November. We usually shy away from all-inclusive simply because you tend to over eat and quality can be sketchy. Pleasantly this was not the case here on all aspects of our stay. The staff from the moment we checked in and during our stay were all amazing, very personable, friendly and helpful. I had read other reviews about difficulty in securing reservations at the a la carte restaurants which for some reason is partially true, so suggest you book with your concierge rep immediately when you check in. Having said that we found the buffet restaurant to be very good for evening dinning, excellent assortment of regional dishes and very fresh and delicious...maybe too delicious, was tough not going back for a second plate. We also found the buffet breakfast to be just as good. The a la carte restaurants were ok, nothing special, some in fact aside from your entree offer a buffet selection for appetizers and deserts. The Japanese place was good, typical japanese Benihana's type seating and watching chef put on a little show while serving you food, did not feel i needed to go back, would have been same meal. The steak place OK but don't have high expectations for cuts of meat, stick with the buffet and and Mexican place. As to rooms, we stayed in the beachfront suite, started in ground floor suite with walk out to beach but quickly changed rooms to be higher up...walk out patio nice but unless standing up your staring at a wall. The rooms themselves are clean, fridge is re-stocked daily and always had lots of bottled water left, maid service is excellent. We did find the patio door a little tough to open and close but got use to it. Pool area is great, very large and has two tiers, clean and lots of activities through the day, snack bar poolside had great selection of burgers, quesadillas, fruit cups and salads. The alcoholic beverages and servers around the pool were awesome, although some drinks a little too sweet, surprised to see they did a decent Mai Tai. They also set up a fresh grill poolside and have daily specials which were amazing. The night time entertainment was very enjoyable, went every night and loved every show, some a little cheesy but so much fun and many of the staff working during the day are also the performers at night and very talented. Check out the Lobby bar before or after show, great drinks and also has entertainment. Overall would highly recommend staying at Iberostar and would not hesitate staying here again, although like any all inclusive, one week was sufficient simply because of the lack of variety and their are so many other great restaurants and places to stay in Nuevo and Puerto Vallarta

Stayed 6 days first week of December with a family of four (4 & 7 year old). First time at an Iberostar property, been rotating Mexico all-inclusives 2-3 times per year the last several years. Very large property but not huge. Well maintained. Staff consistently professional. Stayed at a ground floor junior suite. These are ocean front and the ground floor was priced cheaper than the ones above. The ground floor is nice for the easy access to the beach— there’s a birm dividing the beach from the property, it obstructs the view of the waves crashing but there’s still an ocean view from the back porch. Because the rest of the property from the oceanfront lodging building sits a little back and up a rise, from the ground floor you need to take the stairs or one of the several elevators up 4 floors to the “Lobby” level where the pools are, the oceanfront restaurant (buffet at lunch, steakhouse at dinner). They also have a snack bar open most of the sunny hours, along with a daily taco or other rotating food bar that sets up outside. The main pool is your standard large resort pool with pool bar. There’s a lower portion of the main pool attached, and a second volleyball net/basketball sports pool that wasn’t very busy, saw a few games here and there. Also a solid kid pool. One notable is that while the immediate pool proximate chairs would fill up it wasn’t as competitive early for seats as many resorts are and there always seemed to be plenty available a row or two back, even at the busiest times. The first weekend we were there they were full (I checked room availability online prior and they confirmed when I checked it). This place was perfectly comfortable at “full” status, not too crowded. Still pool space available and even peak breakfast time at the buffet moved steady, maybe a little line. Drink servers were around the pool for loungers pretty consistently, at peak times you’d see then less frequently as their workload went up, but they were good. 4 al-a-carte restaurants, I went to 3 of 4. Nothing overfly fancy but good food. Buffet quality was high, not mind blowing but wide selection. One of the few complaints I had was later in the buffet hours the restock and replenishment would sometimes deteriorate and the quality would slide significantly. In the last 10-15 minutes of being open, I can understand, but one evening there was over 1.5 hours left and a pretty crowded place and it way below their usual standards. While their staff is good, sometimes they were a little understaffed or on the busy side and you had to fend for yourself or flag people down for place settings, silverware or water. I just go to the server station and start helping myself but then the understaffed servers try to run the help and I feel a little bad, as it’s a management issue. We go to family places a lot and see a lot of great kids-club staffs and programs; if I had to pick, this one was probably the current frontrunner for best all-around. Fun main kids-club facility near pools with a variety of activities. They have evening kid-participation talent shows, musicals, magic shows and other events in the evenings before the adult shows at the main entertainment facilities---on stage, DJ’s, effects, costumes. The kids have a blast. The staff is made of fun people who either liked working with kids or were great at acting like they did. Wife and kids attended several of the evening shows (while I read, sipped and puffed on cigars—thank you honey). Kids enjoyed them. Wife said they was entertainment value but wouldn’t rate them too high compared with shows seen at other resorts. I don’t lounge at the beach but it looked solid for lounging, saw attendants putting up umbrellas on request and occasional drink servers. Not an ideal bogey boarding beach but you could. Bit of an undertow, fine for strong swimmers and bigger kids when we were there. No snorkeling. Bars all over. Bar on top of the oceanfront residential buildings has incredible sunset views. A most beautiful spot to have a cocktail and enjoy paradise before walking over to dinner somewhere. Main lobby bar also solid with lots of seating and live music in the evenings. Bars usually double staffed when needed and drink wait times consistently good, not that there isn’t the occasional backup. Front desk was quick and professional. Came in behind a group and they still got us through quickly. Out was a breeze. I met a lot of people there who had been back many times and I could understand why. I booked early and the price was solid for what we received. There are fancier places and more upscale places, but this is right in the sweet spot for a family vacation at a nice place with a solid value proposition.
