    We are staying at the Claremont Hotel, October 22nd-25th, 2020, booked two rooms for three nights. Our purpose is to visit family who live in the area. A few moments ago, we asked to sit in their outdoor area restaurant and they directed us to another end of a parking lot to sit on Adirondack chairs, even though we are guests of the hotel. The night before we had purchased two Etude Pinot Noir bottles of wine. We realize it’s during Covid, yet couldn’t the service include a solution besides Adirondack chairs at another end of parking lot? We decided to open our own bottle of wine on one of their hotel decks. So far so good. ??

    This hotel is really beautiful from the outside and the lobby itself is quite nice. We’re also appreciative they’re taking Covid very seriously. However that’s about where it ended for our first stay there. The first room that they put us in had a slanted bed which made for a very sleepless night. They moved us which was fine enough (I do think a check-up from a five star hotel would’ve been appropriate), and then we went on to share that we were up there to look at our venue for our (third attempt) of our wedding. Not only did they not follow through on providing information to help us book, I was also a bit insulted when communicating with them. They couldn’t care less , in fact it felt as if they didn’t realize they’re in the hospitality industry and guests - at least the 15% filled ones in the hotel - were the ones standing behind them at this time. The series of related interactions and first night was very upsetting in themselves, yet upon leaving it wasn’t enough. We received a message after checking out that a higher floor or first floor could be alternative options (??). Our experience was just really upsetting, and they made us feel as if our time and energy was just of zero value.

    Hello, my name is Edwin. I don’t write many reviews unless they are stellar. I just had an important proposal event to my beautiful Cyndi at The Claremont. Peter, Brooke, Laura, and Giovanni helped me organize an amazing over the top proposal while being amazingly friendly, courteous, and very quick to help me with any details that I needed. They made me feel like family! Thank you so very much for a beautiful place, perfect spectacular room, and superior excellent staff!

    A beautiful Berkeley landmark and Home from Home

    We stayed at this stunning landmark for 3 months during a house move. All of the staff made my whole family, which included 2 dogs, so welcome we were sad to leave. We can’t thank the team here enough. Our amazing housekeeper brought us a gift on our last day, like all the staff she was fantastic. A must stay hotel when visiting the Bay.

    My wife and I spend a night and had dinner at the Claremont. It was a busy night - Friday of Labor Day weekend and UC Berkeley check-in weekend. We felt very safe. Social distancing and masks strictly enforced. The room was spotless. Staff very attentive. Outdoor dining at the Limewood restaurant was great.
