    We were treated like thieves at check-out!

    The best thing about this hotel is its location, the beach and the staff (other than the front desk!). We had won this trip thru a contest - overall we had a great time until the morning of our check out. This guy, Javier found that we owed them US$10 per day and per person for 7 nights for gratuities, something that the tour operator did not tell us. He also told us that the hotel should have charged this upon check-in, and they did not (have I known this, I would have not left any tips for the staff!!) so he was covering his back by charging us at the end. Because it was very early on that Sunday morning, there was no way we could contact the tour operator in Canada so they contacted their offices in Mexico - I told them that they are holding on to your luggage and they would not let us leave the hotel. The lady told us that unless they call the police they cannot hold us but noooo...the hotel had to have their bellboys hold on to our luggage and the tour operator van driver waiting for us to pay in order to drive us to the airport, which already had picked up the rest of the passengers....he would not move so we paid only to not inconvenience the others in the van. This left us a very bad taste in our mouths. The front desk is NOT professional at all. When we came back home we immediately contacted the tour operator - after several follow ups between them and this hotel management, the HOTEL REFUSED TO REIMBURSE US THE US$140 BUT ON THE SAME BREATH THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO RE-TRAIN THEIR STAFF BETTER!!! SO THEY ADMIT THEY WERE WRONG BUT STILL DID NOT DO THE RIGHT THING BY REFUNDING US THE MONEY!!! I wonder what the staff is going to do next time this happens to a different guest? Let them go? I doubt it... The tour operator gave us compensation for this incident - this hotel sucks in good management! The other issue we had with the room is the bed: king size alright but it was not on the length!!! LOL....my fiance is 6'6"!! the pillows in the room were horrendous and I would not give them to my guests...maybe to my dogs - they were very old and lumpy..when I called the front desk and described them they said they will send good pillows but to no avail...got 2 more old, lumpy ones! They "nickle and dime" on a lot of things: If you are not in the club, you will have to pay for wi-fi (very expensive while all the other resorts nearby provide it for free) mini fridge and even alarm clock!. Cabanas cost US$80 p/day and are practically empty. They rake the sea weed maybe few times a week. If you lose your room card/beach towels/safe key they will make sure you get charged!. Saving on AC in the lobby area and in the buffet too. The hotel and our room were very clean, people work very hard there - we enjoyed the entertainment at night, the food was so so, the beach and beach service amazing! kudos to Yessica and Carmen and of course Martin for the entertainment -he is a riot! Thanks to Marco from the towel hut and many many more ppl that work here! Of course I won't be back to this hotel - they shot themselves on the foot and it is their loss. To the hotel - please do not reply to my comment with your generic reply - does not work in this instance. You had lost me forever!

    HONEYMOON IN PARADISE

    Great experience with excellent staff. The food was great, but the entertainment was okay. We loved all of the waitstaff in the restaurants and bars. The sink & shower would not drain but they fixed that problem right away.

    This is our second year here and we love it. Best Staff Ever ! Rooms are clean . Hotel is clean . Guest are friendly . Shangri La was very yummy! Love the Pool Bar ! Bartenders are Awesome. We had 14 couples go this time and it was great!

    Great staff! and great food at Pier 12 and the Old Barn. Good location with a mini mart across the street for chips, beer and other items you may have forgotten. Rooms are a little dated but very functional.

    A wonderful vacation on the ocean room at Cancun. I will never regret choosing this hotel. Courteous staff , food, amenities everything was beyond expectation for the price. Room was neat and clean with breath taking views of blue water, activities bars foods etc
