Here for our 20th wedding anniversary - the hotel was immaculate and the staff was gracious, friendly and attentive. We stayed in a presidential suite, it met our needs with a spacious patio with great views. We did the hydrotherapy treatment in the spa and a couples massage, that was great too. Very pleased with the entire experience. The pool can be racous at times depending on the type of people there, but if that's not your scene (it wasn't for us) you can hang on the beach to get away from it. Restaurants - the buffet is 'decent', chef's table wasn't our thing, Asiana was perhaps one of the best meals we've ever eaten, Marie marie was excellent and Pelicanos was awesome and we ate most meals here. Great coffee drinks too! Fun shows at night and we were lucky enough to be here over Mexican independence day and that was a great dinner, show and tequilla tasting! If you're thinking of coming here as a covid escape, it depends on your risk tolerance. The hotel has sanitizer stations and signs on tables and floors reminding about distancing and that 'face masks are mandatory', yet there was zero enforcement of this. Every staff member and for that matter every Mexican everywhere else we went outside of the hotel wore face masks and even face shields in many instances, very few tourists wore them. Unfortunately, the people who visit here feel like distancing isn't important at this time and it was disheartening to see people completely disregard wearing masks while indoors and annoying that they felt like they had to stand right behind us in line for coffee. This isn't so much a comment on the hotel but the tourists, fyi. Regardless, we had a great stay and will definitely be back. The place was immaculate, beautiful and excellent service.

If you are thinking about getting away during all of the Corona mess this is THE PLACE to go! I can not say enough good things about this hotel! Check in was a breeze!Beyond clean, great service and the food was wonderful! I’m pretty sure Carmen in the spa has magic hands!??They wipe down your luggage when you arrive, take your temp and give you hand sanitizer every time you come back into the building and the entire staff wears masks. Had a fantastic experience! Already planning our next trip!

    Great 'Rona Getaway in Cancun

My wife and I along with another couple had a trip planned to the Dominican Republic, but when the mandatory airport testing of Covid-19 was announced, we decided to do Cancun instead. To keep it simple, we chose the Hyatt Zilara as that was the resort we were booked at in Cap Cana. A decade prior, the Royal in Playa del Carmen was our go-to resort, visiting 3 times before moving on to other resorts/locations. This place definitely reminded us of our times at the Royal prior to the sale of those properties. We did not leave the resort due to the weather from the tropical storm that buzzed by Cancun. We originally had intended on a boat ride around Isla de Mujeres. The Hyatt Zilara did a great job with safety and cleaning. The incredible amount of cleaning and sanitizing done 24 hours of the day during Covid-19 is amazing. Every restaurant has a shoe cleaning station, hand sanitizer and menus available by QR code on your phone. There was never a moment I didn’t see someone cleaning the lobby area, as well as the pool area. We felt completely safe on the resort regarding the measures taken to clean the hotel and beach area. Hotel was 30% occupied. We did the luxury ocean front room. It was great as it had a big balcony and the view was breathtaking. I liked the fact that I could also see forever on the back side of the property either through the window or when leaving the room. Housekeeping kept our room immaculate. We didn’t utilize the upgrades like the beach bed and Chef’s Plate. We were told that since the menu was fixed it couldn’t really be adjusted for gluten-free needs. Food overall was very good. We didn’t have any issues getting into any restaurant anytime we went out for dinner. All restaurants were opened the week before we arrived. We spent by far the most time at Pelicano’s. Not only was it safer being open air but just the environment itself was appealing on the ocean. Coco's Cafe was great for daily iced lattes. Beach is large and beautiful. The days the water was calm, it was truly amazing. Due to the tropical storm, we had a few days of rough water and not as clear water. Seaweed was rarely there and certainly never a problem. Nightly live music and entertainment was good, but nothing special. Due to available space, their productions are on the small side but still good. We were able to social distance as much as we needed to but felt pretty safe the majority of the time. We did partake in the water volleyball and spent some time at the pool swim up bar but most activities are not possible during the pandemic. The drink service around the pool and swim up bar was top notch. It was never overly busy. We did use the gym. It’s a real nice set up with good views. The equipment is all in good shape with plenty of space to spread out from others. The sports bar also had a great setup with most everything renovated minus the restrooms. The only way it could have been better is if they still had the food and beverages available. The patio outside the sports bar was actually a great place to sneak out to and relax, day or night. Facilities are not the primary reason we go anywhere nor do we solely judge a resort based on the property, however, this place is ready for a makeover. Most of the resort is original to the Royal which isn’t necessarily bad but it’s clearly outdated. Some things like the shower handles were in pretty rough shape and didn’t work right. It wasn’t unusual to see cracked tiles all over the floor. Styles have clearly changed in the past 12-15 years. They were painting and doing what they could to make it look new in some areas but a facelift is probably around the corner. With that being said, I would definitely recommend the Zilara. It has a distinct feel of the Royal including the names of the restaurants and employees with their hand over their hearts. With great service, pretty good food, and amazing views of the ocean, you can’t go wrong especially during this time at the Hyatt Zilara.

My fiancée and I booked a last minute trip here and got the up suite and it was awesome! The pool was great and the views of the ocean were amazing. It was definitely worth upgrading to the suite as we got a reserved cabana at the beach and several other perks. We ate at Spice every morning and at lunch and Abel took amazing care of us - he would run down to the pool when the food carts were out and bring us in stuff to try. We also did the romantic dinner on the beach and the surf and turf was amazing - huge thanks to David for coordinating that night for us and all his hospitality during our stay. The greatest part of the night was the sea turtles that had hatched close by our table that we got to help out to sea - what an amazing experience! The service all around was amazing, the employees are so kind and gracious. We will definitely be back!

The stunning grounds are almost as amazing as their staff.

We just finished our second trip to Hyatt Zilara and are in the process of booking our third. The hotel was clean, beautiful and well cared for. The food in all of the restaurants was fantastic. I don't think there was a single thing we didn't like. But what we loved the most was how warm the people working there were. They made you feel welcome, like you were long lost friends. Everyone was helpful, and so happy to be there. The beauty of the resort was definitely worth the visit but its the people who work there they will have us continuously returning. If you get to go, say hi to David, Ivan, Gabriel, Reses and Elanor for us. Book the swim up. Room is beautiful but we met some great friends at our swim up pool.
