My husband and I just spent five days at Secrets and had a wonderful experience! We came to just relax but if you were coming to party the bars do not open until 11am and close at 11pm. There were a couple mornings we were out walking around just trying to find a mimosa! Pools: We had a preferred room so took advantage of the 12th floor pool and bar. Fernando and Dany were awesome up there and always made sure we had drinks. We ventured down to the main pools one day and they were kind of crowded and it was hard to get a drink without getting out of the pool. There are no swim up bars. Beach: The beach is beautiful but the ocean was a little rough and the sand seemed to blast you so we went back up to the 12th floor pool. I think it was just the time of the year that it was so windy, if it wasn’t windy, the beach would have been perfect! Food: We found two breakfast places (Market Cafe and Sea Salt). The food was fine (buffet), we definitely preferred room service breakfast though and did that most mornings! For lunch most days we ate poolside on the 12th floor Olio, it was fantastic! The lamb tacos were so good! For dinner, the Bluewater Grill was our favorite, so good and the service was fantastic! The Italian restaurant was also pretty good! The sushi restaurant has good sushi and appetizers but we thought the main courses were just okay. We also ate at the sports bar one night, good comfort food (quesadillas, nachos, burgers, etc). Spa: Had an amazing massage and facial one morning! I also did the Hydrotherapy which was an interesting experience but made me feel pretty good after! We really had an amazing stay! I would highly recommend it for couples looking to relax!

    Disappointing

We were greatly anticipating our stay at Secrets The Vine having preciously enjoyed a holiday at Secrets Akumal which we highly rated. Our experience was disappointing. We had paid extra for Preferred status and in hindsight consider this a complete waste of money! The main pool area is nicer and larger than the preferred pool area (which is preferable in this unprecedented time of social distancing) and the additional restaurant was lacking in both quality and atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was very poor - we appreciate the difficult restrictions placed on hotels during the pandemic but having stayed at two other hotels in the area during the same trip, the buffet arrangements here were the worst by far! Lunch (Sea Salt Grill) was average at best. Dinner was better but nothing to rave about! The staff were friendly enough but service was generally more functional than personable. All in all a disappointing experience and we wouldn’t return. There are better hotels in the area providing a better quality service and experience and at a lower price point.

Angel set us up with a course on making sushi with Chef Isidno and Rafael. The course was fun and at the end we were treated with an amazing meal consisting of sushi as an appetizer and steak, chicken and shrimp. Through out the meal Angel kept our wine glasses full! I would definitely recommend the sushi course and Secrets the Vine!

We ate a special lunch with Entertainment Specialist Angel, Chef Isidro, and Chef Rafael at Dragons. It was delicious and the COVID-19 precautions made me feel safe. I don't eat sushi typically but I did today and I'm so happy I did!
