We have been to this resort 9 times. This was like our best vacation place. We always paid an extra luggage to take gifts for the staff, gardeners, cleaners. We knew almost everyone working there. On our last trip this past August, my i phone was stolen from my room. Since this was my second phone I had removed the sim card but it had all my personal contacts and most of all the pictures of my dying mom and sister. I'm still so upset that this is irreplaceable. We found out that our patio door was forced open and the item stolen. I'm not sure if anything else was stolen since we had lots of gifts still to be given away. When I reported of course the security came to investigate but nothing else. After been there so many times they wouldn't even let me use their phone or computer to contact Apple. You cannot call 1-800 number to Apple from there. I had to use my own phone and was surprised to get the bill.We never wanted any material things from them, just some security and help if we needed and this is what we got. Very very disappointed.

We went to Playa Coco on July, we spent a really nice vacaction and loved all the people that works over there, we had a great week, with a lot of fun, good food and drinks, we loved the Cuban restaurant, we went there to tried Cuban food and we loved it. The amazing people you can find over there is the main reason to go back, but they have a beautiful beach and weather as well. Was our first time over there and we can´t wait to go back!!!

    Wonderful vacation as always

For the following reasons: 1- broken wood with rusted nails all over main pathways to and from beach. Nails are sticking out and any guest could have stepped on them. 2-floating unsecured electric bulbs in main pool. We had to avoid the main pool for safety most of the days. Turbid water most of the days. 3-live crabs crawling all over resort ground especially at night, lobby, all restrooms. Also, live crabs in the main pool. They are huge crabs, if they snatch any kid, they would have needed stitches. 4-dead crabs scattered everywhere and left to rotten in the sun giving the resort a fishy odour all the time. 5- food was undercooked with minimal choices with flies all over displayed food items. Most of the meals are pork based so we were eating mainly eggs, chicken and fish when available. Also, pastry were expired( rock hard in texture and smelled kind of rotten most of the days). The snakes offered all the time were fries. Only one restaurant opened for all guests. 6- no daytime entertainment on the pool or the beach, just music playing all days 7- two nights out of our 7 night stay we had a night show on the main stage. 3 other nights lobby entertainment which we could not attend because of the loose crabs everywhere and taking shelter under lobby couches. 8-internet is available in the lobby, however, interrupted service. We bought 3 internet cards (each card should have given us 1 hour of uninterrupted internet with multiple device accessibility). each card gave us from 10-15 minutes( you can check how many minutes were used) and only one cellphone could access it at all times. The hotel management was aware of all the above 8 points with no response. As a Canadian family, we are advising all families to seek other hotels in the area for the safety of your families.

We went on a trip to Cayo Coco Cuba as a family from Monday to Monday and stayed at Hotel Playa Coco. On Wednesday, our 7 year old son crawled out of the Main Pool on the resort and received a large gash on his left calf requiring 5 stiches. To our concern we went straight to the Medical office on the resort to receive the stiches from the Doctor/Nurse on site. The issues here: The pool wasn’t cleared out, the cause wasn’t a priority and we had to hail down other staff while carrying him to the Medical office, at which point we were also asked to pay CUC rather than Credit Card or directly bill our Medicare. After leaving the Medical office, we spoke with the front desk asking for a phone, unfortunately they do not have phones available and emergencies do not matter. We were able to speak with the Sunsomething rep on the resort who was able to put us in contact with our Air Canada resort rep by letting us use their cellular device. That evening and following day we had filed an incident report and spoke to PR. Again the issue in the pool was not fixed and was not addressed from Wednesday through till Saturday when tools were given to another guest (not a worker on the resort, a GUEST!) on the resort to try and flatten a sharp nail or shard sticking out of the pool. Subsequently another guest who is an electrician said to avoid the pool altogether as the floating light didn’t appear to have a properly insulated wire. The sharp object, sharp zip tie and uninsulated floating light were all together in the Main Pool. By Friday the remaining members of the family had all contracted Salmonella (vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, de-hydration etc.) (Public Health Report taken) from the undercooked food on the resort. Another alarming concern was not getting capped bottle water daily and when asking for new water, receiving bottles filled up in the back and returned to us. Room: We had a leaking toilet for the second half of the trip and had to wear shoes and sandals everywhere in our room to avoid overflowed toilet water puddles. ++ The performers, cleaning staff, servers all were very kind and supportive. All in all, I would not recommend travelers with family or anyone go to Hotel Playa Coco due to the dangers and lack of concern they have for their guests. Management initially didn’t want to take responsibility for the injury, and Air Canada has not contacted us since returning.
