Made their sheet into a sled in lieu of a luggage cart. Photos attached.

The proud Mantra Group feels like the best way to address a shortage of visitors is the fire the bell staff. Fair. Then, because they are a union hotel, they “can’t” allow anyone to touch a cart themself, or be helped into the hotel by any of the hotel staff. Not to worry. I went upstairs and pulled a nice fresh expensive sheet off the bed. The security guard was kind enough to lend a hand to this ‘sled’ as it scraped its way up the concrete incline from the car, through the fancy lobby and into the fast elevator. Hope the kind woman in uniform doesn’t get fired by some vengeful insecure executive ‘just following company policy’. Yes you, if its you. Chill out and fix that policy. Enjoy the photos.

    Very disappointed

Even understanding that reopening after COVID is difficult, a little truth in advertising would have helped. When on Oahu we often choose Ala Moana because it is self-contained with its gift shop and restaurant - we had NO indication that they were under a major remodel when we booked recently. The entrance is compromised, the lobby is walled off, there is NO gift shop to shop for essentials, no cafe available for breakfast, no housekeeping service unless requested. Unfortunately, after a wait for check in, we were accidently checked into a room that had not been made up. We had to walk to the mall for meals/shopping, which normally would not be a huge deal, but I was on Oahu for surgery and mobility was an issue. I guess we would have wanted to have full disclosure when making our booking, a better discount than the kama'aina rate we were offered, or SOME manner of service recovery! Unfortun

The basic room is kinda cramp but the views is awesome of the city. Stayed here for a staycation and took advantage of a kamaaina discount. Sweet deal. It was pretty cool to have a short walk for some korean bqq and drinks. Although it's kinda tight in the room, it's well secured and beautifully decorated. I love the blue colors. The beach is a short walk but not really a fan of Ala Moana Beach, but of course they had a great pool deck so it was nice and chill to just relax in the evening. Only stayed for the weekend but it was great. If you live on island, take advantage of the kamaaina rate.

the rooms are dirty and not maintained. The Common areas & Meeting space is under renovation and they will be lovely when done but the rooms are sub-par. pricey for what you get. be sure to ask about all the extra fees they tack on to published room rate. Staff is not always friendly. Alleged ocean view is a long way away thru the other buildings and not worth additional charge. Kona rooms are the worst. Noisy, small, sometimes smelly, poorly maintained. Feels like a Motel 6. the only thing missing is the sani strip on the toilet. it is conveniently located near Ala Moana Shopping center. I used to stay there for business because it was so convenient but after the last visit, it is time to move on.

The rooms are very small, with only a double bed. Rooms were dirty, and couldn’t even fit an open suitcase on the floor. The pool is terrible, don’t be fooled by the photos on the website, it looks bigger and nicer online. We asked if we could pay for an upgraded room because the one we were given was horrible, and we had just got engaged, however they wouldn’t let us change rooms. Long walk to Waikiki, with nil access to free shuttles. For the same price/ cheaper you can stay at Ohana East on wakikki, which is in a better location, bigger and nicer rooms and beds and includes free shuttles to Ala Moana. If you are a young couple or family (especially from Australia) please do not stay here.
