The ocean view corner room is very spacious with beautiful views. The decor is updated and modern. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is across the street from the beach. Highly recommend this hotel.

Ocean Front Is Not Worth The Money

We stayed at Waikiki Beach Marriott for a week at the end of December until January 5. Last time we visited Oahu, we stayed at the Royal Hawaiian in a garden view room. I really wanted to be guaranteed to have a room with a full ocean view and a balcony, so I decided to book the ocean front room at the Marriott. If I had it to do over, I would opt for no view at the Royal Hawaiian or Moana Surfrider. The Marriott room was the most expensive I could book online, but it was quite disappointing. Apparently this was supposed to be a nicer room because of my platinum status. We were placed in the same category of room that we booked, so there was no platinum upgrade. The view would have been great if a wall of other rooms were not right next to us. We were on the corner sandwiched next to the L shaped building connecting to what I'm assuming are the ocean view rooms. We got to see dozens of people smoking cigarettes and cigars, eating buckets of chicken, and a variety of other things. The cigarette and cigar smell really ruined the tranquil vibe. Then, directly next to us (and also on the floor below) were rooms that were being used for Marriott storage. We got to see piles of pillows, bedding, and mattresses every evening. The curtains in these rooms were left wide open and the lights were on. Any time we looked to the right, that's what we saw. When we looked down, we got to see the pool that is not open. It is a disaster. It needs to at least be cleaned up so it is not such an eyesore. Sound was another problem. The walls are very thin so you can hear your neighbors. Our room was next to the hydration station and ice machine so it was very noisy any time someone used that area. The mattresses were not comfortable. We had requested a king sized bed, but were told that there was not a single room with a king size bed available, so that was another disappointment. Most disturbing was the air conditioner vent in the room. I did not notice until the end of the trip that it is covered in mold. This was not a cheap trip and I expected more from the room. The layout was good and there was a nice bidet, but it was not worth the money. I think we would have had a better view and more privacy in an ocean view room instead of ocean front. I would not recommend parking at the Marriott. It is the most expensive parking on the island and the parking structure is filthy. People drive very fast in there around the corners and we had some close calls. I would have given my review two stars if it hadn't been for the staff. Everyone was working hard to follow Covid protocol. There were staff constantly cleaning and making sure that only two people or families got on the elevator at one time. The staff at the Kuhio Grill was the best. Everyone there went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Georgette was especially kind and interested in making our trip nice. We took the free breakfast as part of the platinum perks, but in retrospect, I think the points would have been better. Unless you pay $7.50 to upgrade, you get the same breakfast every day. It was plain Greek yogurt, fruit, granola, and a Hawaiian roll every day. Burger King is right next door so that may be a better breakfast option. We were very happy to be able to travel to a place where we felt safe and are appreciative that Marriott took the problems of the pandemic seriously. However, I don't think I would stay there again.

The Waikiki Beach Marriott has been my home awY from when I travel for work. Convenient location, but I come back for the great staff, amenities and beautiful rooms (plus, you can't really beat the view. I feel the Aloha spirit even when I can't travel there from the wonderful, kind staff who helped make my friends birthday one to remember. Thanks Skai and team from guest experience !!

Our family of four stayed for two weeks over the holidays this year and could not have had a better stay. The newly-renovated rooms are gorgeous, spacious, and modern. We had two ocean view rooms with a connecting door in the Kealohilani tower. It was perfect for our family with two teens. We were impressed with the covid precautions being taken at the hotel and were even more impressed when, as the holidays drew near and more guests arrived, the hotel seamlessly implemented solutions to make everything run more smoothly even with social distancing guidelines in place. The reception and bell staff were always friendly, at the ready, and offered smiles and aloha. Check-in was a breeze and we felt very welcome. A huge shout-out to Georgette and the breakfast staff at the Kuhio Grill who were amazing at supplying the hotel guests with "bento" breakfasts each morning. Their entire job description and processes have been turned upside-down with covid, yet they were always hospitable, kind, patient, and helped us with take-out breakfasts or dining in when it became available. You won't get friendlier service on the island! Mahalo for making "take-out" breakfast so fun and delicious. Although the hotel is still undergoing renovations in one wing, we did still enjoy the 3rd floor swimming pool. It was never busy and we truly enjoyed the fantastic pool-side entertainment of talented musician Micah Ganiron. Our trip would not have been complete without hearing his sweet ukulele and guitar. Aside from the wonderful staff and comfortable lodging, the location is also ideal. You can be on the beach just steps away from the elevator and you can walk nearly anywhere in Waikiki in 15 minutes or less. A stone's throw from the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park. ABC store on the bottom floor was convenient for last-minute snacks and drinks. When visiting Oahu there are many options out there for hotels, but we would not hesitate booking the Waikiki Marriott Resort & Spa next time we visit. Thank you for a great stay!

Modern and well maintained. The staff are friendly and professional. COVID guidelines and protocols are in place to keep the guests and staff safe. The room is clean and with modern furnishings. The location is convenient, with the beach just across the way. Many restaurants are nearby.
