    Decent property, extremely rude staff

A few positives about this property: nice and quiet ocean front, quiet pool, and a decent restaurant. Besides that, I would not recommend this location. It appears that several of the ‘rooms’ are actually independently owned and the hotel has ‘no control’ over these rooms. I recently booked a room in the hotel tower but after seeing the tiny room and the non-private balcony, I asked if there was any other rooms available. They told me there was a room in the dolphin building which was steps from the pool and beach, but the room itself was an outdated, dirty, and bare bones version of what the online photos look like. I did take the upgrade, but with an added $40/night charge. For that rate, there are far better resorts on West Maui. In addition, the front desk staff did not have the Aloha spirit. They were very rude during the whole check in process and seemed bothered when you would try to exchange towels. The complete opposite of what you receive anywhere else in Hawaii. The best example of their rudeness: I asked the front desk if I can rent snorkeling gear, she said ‘NO! like we explained at check in and like it says on this card, you need to go to the beachfront hut’. The thing, it was not explained at check-in, I never got the card, and the answer is yes, I can rent snorkeling gear. Finally, there is an activity desk that they push on you like a timeshare presentation. While it’s optional, they will call your room to remind you about the free breakfast if you just sit at a presentation at 8am. While an activities desk seems great, this one was not. They claimed to give discounts to their offerings, but a quick online search gives you the same rates and even cheaper at times. I asked about an activity and they quickly dismissed my inquiry and try to upsell me on a more expensive activity. I even witnessed an old man have two sales associates use predatory sales tactics to lock him into an activity. This is stuff you do not want to see or be a part of on vacation.

This was our last stay of three island for a week each. This was out chance to relax and take it all in. The resort is right on the beach with towles and chairs and fins and goggles and boards to rent beashside. the beach goes on forever with a nice roll to eht sirf and gentle winds daily. The hotel seemd like a combination of Time Share and Hotel. Only the Hotel guests get the whole treatment. a warm large pool with chairs and a bar. Very comfortable and welcoming. A large reasonable restaurant open all day with both local and international foods. Service there was always exemplary. It is on a beach walk that covers miles of resorts you can walk through on a signed path or stop and have a drink at another resort. The room we had was large and had a full size fridge, microwave and cook top. Maui is the island you realy need a car on. services and stores are close by but better to be driven. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. A helpful front counter staff topped things off.

After a stressful year of being a caretaker to my mom and then sadly losing her a month ago, we decided to come together as a family and take a vacation to help clear our thoughts. Check-in was smooth

I would give the Maui Kaanapali Villas 6 Stars if I could. This was our second trip to Maui, and we searched every website for a hotel that wasn’t overly pricey and was affordable. This hotel got some of the best reviews on Maui. The location is perfect for travel anywhere on the island. We were upgraded to a premium one bedroom suite on the fifth floor. The suite was huge with a partial view of the ocean. It was super clean with everything you needed (I.e. glassware, silverware, plates, etc.) The king sized bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds were very well maintained; the pool was huge; the waterfront beach was close to the main hotel, and the water was not rocky or full of shells. We do a lot of traveling, and I can honestly say that the Maui Kaanapali Villas rates as one of the best hotels for the value that we have stayed in. One final comment: the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, especially Joe Keanini at the front desk.

Nice place to stay short walk to the beach and you have a pool and a jacuzzi right out your back door. Cleaners come through daily they even washed our dishes. Best feature for us was they have a grill outside so we bought groceries and grilled alot it saved us from having to eat out all the time. Pretty clean room small but had dishes and utensils we could use would definitely stay here again.
