Dirty Room During Covid 19 Pamdemic

I am a Hilton diamond member and frequently visit the Hilton Waikoloa for both work and personal trips. Most of our trips are wonderful. The property is gorgeous with many lovely amenities. We have received many emails from the Hilton regarding their new cleaning procedures. It’s disturbing to see wads of hair on the shower wall and hair in the basin of the tub. With Covid 19 spreading so quickly and Hawaii issuing a 14 day quarantine to everyone arriving, it’s serious to maintain a clean environment. I reported it to the front desk and did not have them attempt to cleaning as I’m on a time constraint. I pack my own Clorox wipes and cleaned the shower myself. I am extremely disappointed and makes me question the cleanliness not only here, but at other Hilton properties.

    A No Service Non-resort

If you want beautiful scenery and views and that's all, this is the place for you. But if you are looking for a relaxing resort with great service and amenities I would stay away. The hotel is grossly understaffed, so everywhere you go there are waits and long lines. We arrived at the hotel at about 11 pm and between check-in and waiting for the tram we got to our room after 1 am.

    Getting your steps in.

Self parking is a haul, so if you have mobility difficulties by all means drop them off at front then park your car. Plenty of things to do here and yes the boats and tram are slow, kids will like them as a fun experience. Parents using a stroller or wheelchair should use the trams. Ice cream was good, 2 scoops was $14. Sandy lagoon with plenty of turtles and aquatic life to snorkel in.

I spent 4 days and 3 nights at the Hilton Waikoloa Hotel between March 6th and 9th. I was there for business trip but had a few hours to spend at leisure that were a big disappointment. It was certainly not the worst experience at a hotel ever, but it was bad enough that I have elected to discontinue staying at the Hilton chain going forward. They made it clear that I am not valued as a customer and the property failed to live up to my expectations so even if I chose to stay at an occasional Hilton in the future, I will positively never stay at the big island location EVER! EVER! To show you that I am even handed in my comments I am going to begin by telling you what was good! · I really appreciated the Diamond member room upgrade. Really made me happy · I loved the Kamuela Provision Company food quality. Superb food ( not inexpensive ) but really good · I loved the Big Island Breakfast morning buffet. Superb array of choices and quality plus good service · Your grounds are lovely and well maintained. Your cousin the Waldorf Astoria Grand Wailea is nicer but not by much. I like the fact that you offered a Sunday church service · The rooms were clean and well serviced. The rooms also spacious. However, its not the good stuff that I will remember or what prompted me to review this property Unfortunately, it’s the way you treated me and how you manage this property that is the reason why I am done with Hilton. · I booked the lowest cost room since my corporate travel dept at my firm expects us to get low rate. It just turned out that that low rate was in the Ocean tower (Vacation Club). I did not stay in the timeshare rooms, I stayed in the basic hotel room that just happened to be in the vacation club building. I did not realize that staying in that stupid tower resulted in me forfeiting all my Hilton Diamond benefits. So the big take away was that Diamond members were not given breakfast and I resent the fact that I had to buy my own continental breakfast for $28. This was so cheap on your part and infuriated me. · I did not appreciate a 28 minute wait to check in at the front desk. Really terrible service and it just seemed like no one cared or was cognizant of the fact that calling for some extra help might have been good service. · I hated the fact that your tram was not running in a reliable way and was only able to use it occasionally and when I could use it the tram was so slow you could walk faster. Your property is enormous and you simply don’t offer a good option. Elderly people should beware this property is not for you! · Your 76- degree unheated swimming pool was a really disappointment. Especially when wind is blowing at 15 -20 MPH, who wants to get in a cold pool? This was a huge disappointment to me! Remember you charged me a $40 a day resort fee to enjoy your resort so one would think that fee ensured all the resort amenities were exceptional. That turned out to be wrong! · Your self parking lot card reader did not work so I could never exit your garage without fighting with the machine · Your lobby concierge told me all the tables at Kamuela Provision CO were taken at 5:30 PM and would not give me a table until I called the F+B manager who happily accommodated me and when I got up at 6:45, the tables were still empty. Restaurant is really expensive so you should be begging people to dine there, not turning them away. · I resent the fact that as a Diamond member, you would not offer me enhanced premium internet. The basic internet is slow · I liked your servers in Big Island Breakfast historically showing me the “word of the day”. I am really sorry that you think that was stupid and trivial and you cancelled the program. Obviously the new management is from the mainland and has no Aloha spirit. That manager has no business managing a Hawaiian property and needs to go back to the mainland. · Not everyone who stays at your property is a leisure traveler. Some of us are business travelers and its not convenient to wait till 7AM to get a table at the Big Island. Get real! And if all of that was not bad enough, it took me 4 phone calls and 3 e mails after my stay to eventually get credited for my Hilton frequent guest points because the hotel posted an erroneous bill to my account so the proper point credit could not be issued without challenging the calculations over and over. And, I took the time to send Hilton a letter to let them know that my experience was less than perfect and the response after 2 weeks was Silence. That should tell you why you dont want to mess with this hotel! So in conclusion, i am telling you to pass on this property and resist the urge to stay at this massive and impersonal resort. The lovely grounds and huge pools with terrific non motorzied water sports along with the wonderful children's dolphin program will suck you in but in the end, you wont have the experience that you expect. On my next trip to Waikoloa, i plan to return to the exceptional Marriott (just 3 blocks away) where they treat me like I count and am a valued customer. The Marriott is 1/4 the size of this Hilton and its easy to get around and use their services. They actually have a real beach which Hilton does not have. The Marriott Beach has some coral so its not the best beach but its a beach and a small 5 min walk gets you to a better strech of sand. The Marriott has a heated infinity pool that is wonderful. Their morning buffet is excellent. And frequent guests who belong to Bonvoy get a couple of free drink coupons which is more than Hilton. Please dont waste your time at Hilton.

This hotel is quite wonderful but incredibly expensive! Only go there if you have deep pockets. Seriously, EVERYTHING is extra. It is $28 for Continental breakfast and $40 for the full breakfast! I will say that the amenities are lovely!
