We recently stayed at PH and experienced a great time. Pros: Staff: From our persona host Henry (he is and asset for PH) He took care of my family all of the time. Also I remember Vieka, Rafael at Italian restaurant, Samantha and Osman from the Asian and Freddy and Jose at breakfast. They went above and beyond. We had the star class room and it was such a surprise cause it really works. We had a vip access to special amenities but the most enjojable was the star class service at the exclusive pool. Drinks, food all in a minute to your table. Cons: None, we wanted stayed longer :) We are looking on going back this september. Kudos, Quesada Villegas family

It was the first time in the hotel, the facilities are very nice and with great views of the ocean, I got the Starclass upgrade, which in the end was not worth it, the pool area was very small, I had to be having my drinks , at all times and the bartender was more distracted, in other things, I asked Adrián if he could get me some bottles of water,I wanted to walk to the beach enjoy the sunset,he was'nt friendly way, he replied that he did not I had since morning and I was tired of bad management. Maybe he got angry because he interrupted him while playing with his cell phone. I don't know.....

We arrived here late in the afternoon with a little bit of craziness after a long day of traveling. The next morning met with Henry and Samuel our agents and everything was cleared up. They are fantastic. All reservations for restaurants made for us, as well as anything we wanted to do. I definitely recommend this resort, and star class. The resort is beautiful! Our room is always clean, and the fridge is always stocked. All of the employees go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Mario at pool bar and Byron at lobby bar are awesome!

We continue to love Costa Rica, but would not recommend PH for couples

If you have stayed at other all-inclusives, this one will underwhelm you in almost every way. While they have unlimited drinks, a big pool, and activities, all the cons outweigh the pros. Here is an extensive review, I promise I’m not a snob, but this is the review I wish I saw before booking. First Food review: The food is not tasty, the only exception is East Sushi. The Tex-Mex restaurant is truly awful, incredibly dry, fatty meat and no use of seasoning. Italian is pretty good depending on what you get, the apps and fresh fish are winners, the pasta is frozen and tomato sauce is straight from the jar. Since we have plenty of good steakhouses back home, we didn’t feel the need to try the steakhouse here. Breakfast buffet is great for omelets and fresh fruit, everything else has been dried out from the heat laps. Guy’s Burger joint was the most disappointing of all. We love to watch Guy’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and try to find a Triple D place wherever we go. We’ve been to Guy’s Vegas restaurant and it was amazing, but this quick-serve burger joint was so bland. They again don’t use any seasoning on the burger, and even with BBQ sauce, it didn’t really taste like anything. Sad since that was an enticing factor when we were looking at the various all-inclusives. Star-Class review: The two star-class buildings are close to the pools, beach, and a couple restaurants which is a big perk since it’s quite a hike to get down there! There are golf carts but they can be hit-or-miss. The daily 1 hour of the hydrotherapy at the spa is lovely since it’s so beautiful and peaceful. You also get access to the star lounge (small room with serve yourself alcohol wooo! and snacks- which sit out all day boooo!) and a pool for star class only guests, with its own bar. The pool is nice if you don’t have kids taking over the entire pool - which is not the hotel’s fault, just unfortunate for us since we never really got to use it. Kids were always doing cannon balls and playing catch so no adults could casually swim around. The bar is premium alcohol, but the bartender wasn’t the friendliest to us. With star-class you get a “personal rider” who is supposed to make your stay extra special, really it’s just them preparing your meal reservations which you can easily do at the lobby yourself at the concierge desk or call the restaurant. They do not try to find you the “best pool spot” or stock the room with “personalized snacks and drinks” or “24-hour virtual assistance” like the site says. We were supposed to use WhatsApp to get in touch with him... we sent a message at 7:15 pm and got a response back at 5:00 pm the next day. Not helpful! Our rider was very friendly and tried to help with certain things, but was gone one of our days and the hotel didn’t assign a backup. They really only seem available from 10-5 or 6, which is reasonable as a normal workday, but doesn’t qualify as 24-hour service. Planet Hollywood coupons: if you book for 4 or more days you get a book of coupons. I was pumped since I love to use coupons, but not a single one worked for anything. You get 2 $50 spa coupons, but they don’t work for manis/pedis/facials or anything under $200. You get 1 $50 store credit, but only for PH merchandise, which we didn’t see any of in the gift shop! That made me laugh but I wasn’t planning on buying PH merch anyway. You get 2 $50 PH upgrade credits for things like a mini-bar and cabanas, but there’s always a promotion for the cabana so you can’t use the cabana promo and coupon, and if you want a mini-bar in your room you can’t use the coupon. It’s frustrating to get credits that you literally cannot use for anything. Why give coupons then? There were others but since the ones we tried didn’t work, l gave up on the rest. The beach: it’s a beautiful black sand beach with warm water, and there are complimentary water activities like kayaking, paddle boating, and paddleboarding. The second your foot gets off the pavement, you will be swarmed with vendors asking if you want a massage by the beach or jet skis to rent. They are not a part of the hotel, but eventually, once you say no enough they stop. In other experiences, a private beach is really private, not vendor-filled like this one. PH Experiences: We booked one excursion with PH experiences. We said we wanted to snorkel, so Christophe booked a trip for us. When we drove to playa del coco it was not a snorkeling trip. It was a 5 hour sunset booze cruise. We’ve done sunset cruises before but not for that much money, it was surprising! We were disappointed since it wasn’t what we thought but we still made the best of it! Being on the ocean looking for dolphins and whales isn’t a bad thing just not what we were expecting. We let Christophe know and he was glad we told him so he could pass the message to his boss about the company not doing what they advertised. We totally understand it’s not his fault! The next day Christophe had paddleboards ready for us to enjoy, he’s very courteous, friendly, and easy to work with! Another person we really liked was Jorge! He convinced my husband to do a fitness challenge to win a free massage, and he did! Jorge very charismatic and likes to have a good time with guests! He was assisted by Evelyn and Ronny! They offered other fitness classes throughout the day, but we did not participate. General Hotel review: if you’ve read this far, you can tell I wasn’t too happy with my stay. While it was all minor things, they kept adding up. When you pay the all-inclusive price, you want to get a top-notch experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone but families. The lobby is unresponsive when you call, and when you walk up the giant hill up to the main building there was always a decent sized line. The golf carts are a rarity so you will have to walk up and down said giant hill from your room to the pool or main building for food. The rooms are clean but the chairs by the pool and in the restaurants are covered with stains. It’s rather off-putting. Jorge, the manager at the spa was the best part about our stay at PH. He is extremely kind, very welcoming, and professional. If he was where I lived, I’d request him every time! The day after my massage he came up to me and asked how I was feeling and really made me feel special. He deserves a raise or to be recruited by another higher-end hotel because he gave top-grade, outstanding service that needs to be recognized! About us: We’re a couple in our late 20s/early 30s with no children. Maybe an adult-only hotel was the way to go for us but again, this is supposed to be a high-end resort, and it wasn’t in my book. We will not be coming back to Planet Hollywood, but do love Costa Rica! This wasn’t our first time in CR, so we will just have to try somewhere else next time! I hope this review was helpful!

We had another great trip to Costa Rica! We traveled with another family so there was 8 of us in total. 4 adults and 4 kids (ages 8-14) Each family had their own 2 Room Directors Suite. Building 25 and 26. Pros- *Amazing staff! Fernanda was our personal rider and she was amazing! Set up our dinner reservations for every night as soon as we arrived, scheduled daily hydrotherapy in the spa and kept up informed on where breakfast would be located every morning. She was on top of it! Jeffry was so much fun on the "party bus". He would pick us up and drive us around the resort playing music and just having fun with us. The kids loved him! Greybin/Jarvi/Walter at the pool bar were excellent. Always making sure we were taken care of. Adrian at the Star Class bar was awesome also! So many good staff members at this resort! *Rooms were fantastic! Very clean and massive! We had the 2 Room Directors Suite (25-101 and 25-102) which is absolutely perfect for a family! I know it costs a little more but totally worth it! *Star Class was worth it - seeing the people lined up in the morning waiting to book reservations looked like a waste of time to me. *Food was good - it wasn't like amazing but it was good. Guy Fieri's place was great for lunch and next to the pool area. *There really isn't a dress code which was really nice. Not having to worry about having the kids dress up or wearing pants was great. *Complimentary Antigen Covid test on site which made it very convenient. *Monkeys on the beach are fun for everyone to see! Cons- *Due to Covid - everything shuts down very early. Everything closes at 10pm. It turns into a ghost town however it is peaceful. *Resort is based on a steep grade so you will probably want to always catch the shuttle unless you want a good workout! *Trying to get bottled water or beers restocked in the fridge almost seemed like an impossible task. They also want to charge you for beer after 4pm if you ask for it to be delivered to the room. *Fuel closes at 6pm so you cannot get ice cream in the evening. *Entertainment is so-so. I have seen a lot better elsewhere but I also think they are limited with Covid. Overall I would definitely recommend this place and would like to see what it is like when there is not a pandemic as the occupancy was down so there were limited options that I don't think that you would normally see. During the week it is very quiet and the weekends get much busier as many locals come to stay there. They are doing this to keep revenue flowing. Thanks again for the memories! Pura Vida!
