After much research and deliberation of where to stay on our 1st trip to Hawaii. We decided to spend our 25th anniversary at the Aston Islander on the Beach. There is no doubt we made a great pick with this place. In our opinion a great location to get anywhere on the island within a short period of time. Shopping, grocery, restaurants a short walk away. But a car is recommended. From check in to check out. A very friendly & helpful staff. They were even able to accommodate a late checkout request for us when we decided to stick around (preferred not to leave at all) for a half day. We stayed in an oceanfront room, 1st floor. Walked right out from the lanai after having morning coffee to see the unbelievable sunrise. The property is in pristine condition with tropical flora all over. Room was clean and met all of our needs on the trip. Enjoyed the Tiki bar on several occasions by the pool. No doubt that when we return to Kauai this will be the only place we consider for our stay. Thanks to all at the Aston Islander for making this an unforgettable anniversary getaway.

My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at Aston Islander on the Beach. It's a modestly decorated hotel very conveniently located a short drive from the airport. We were able to drive anywhere on the island in less than an hour. Our room had a beautiful ocean view with a small balcony where we enjoyed morning Kauai coffee (provided in the room). There is a small, very clean pool and hot tub, and a pool bar with friendly bartenders and local patrons who are all happy to give you tips on seeing the island. The front desk staff always greeted you with a smile and asked about your day's adventures. The room was very comfortable with mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker, and microwave. There was even kitchenware to cook small meals in the microwave or at the pool's gas grills. The hotel is located very conveniently next to a small shopping center within walking distance but still felt very tucked away next to the ocean--not like a strip mall hotel. I plan to stay here again and would highly recommend the Aston!

We normally stay at the Grand Hyatt but we wanted to break up the stay and try something else in between Poipu and Hanalei. We read the reviews and selected an oceanfront room. We called after making the reservation and requested a room on the side away from the Lava Lava beach club so we wouldn’t be bothered with noise. We got a room, as requested, on the third floor. You are extremely close to the water so if you like hearing the surf this is right for you. The beach is right there but I wouldn’t consider it a nice swimming beach. The property is smaller which I liked. We didn’t like the older rooms, reminded us of the 60s. Clean but old. Considering what it cost compared to the hi-end resorts I felt it was worth the price. You are also closer to Hanalei. Next trip we’ll do the Islander again and another high end resort.

We recently stayed at the Aston Islander on the Beach at the beginning of August, 2019. Check-in was easy, however the one piece of information that we were not informed of was where the over-flow parking was located in the event that the parking lot filled up. Not a huge issue but would have nice to know ahead of time. We stayed in the Kauai building facing the ocean which provided great views. There a no elevators and each building is 3 stories. didn't affect us but could potentially be an issue for guests with mobility issues. The pool and spa were well maintained, towels were provided at the front desk. They also had a grill for guest use right by the pool. Great location near the Coconut Marketplace and the Lava Lava Beach Club (restaurant at the adjacent hotel) and also a quick drive to the north and south shores. Even driving to Waimea was a nice scenic drive. Tip: The traffic on Highway 56 when turning left out of the hotel property sometimes looks like rushhour on a downtown LA freeway. Don't stress, it lasts for less then 1/2 a mile and is caused by a poorly planned merger of roads. Would definitly consider this hotel again for future trips to Kauai.

We stayed in unit #161, which is ground floor and has an ocean view (building is diagonal to the beach. We are a family of four, with two 12 year olds. Next year we probably would have to rent two units, but the pull out couch worked for the kids this year. The room has a king sized bed, a pull out sofa, table with two chairs, patio table with two chairs, mini fridge, microwave, and basic silverware, plates, ironing board, two boogie boards, two beach chairs, two beach towels, coffee maker, two coolers. The ice machine is nearby in the building front and to the left. Bring extra t.p. and paper towels or buy them at foodland. There is no laundry service at the condo but there is one about a mile away next to foodland. The machines are huge so you can do a weeks worth of laundry for four people for like 8 bucks in one machine. Foodland is cheaper than the other stores nearby and if you register with your phone number you get the discounts. We saved 30 dollars just buying a few things. The condo is a perfect location to do the backcountry adventure tubing, rainbow kayak adventures, sleeping giant cafe (fantastic food), lava lounge, and smith family luau. The kayaking actually shared the parking lot. Use my itinerary for a great trip, stay here, then book the tubing, the kayaking, the luau, see ke'e' beach and snorkel there and poi poi beach, and take the island helicopters tour of the napali coast. If you plan to drive to the napali coast and see Ke'e' beach it takes about an hour to get there. Don't forget to make reservations on line 2 weeks in advance of the day you visit if you want parking. Coconut grove shopping center is within easy walking distance and has free shows twice a week in their pavilion area. There is an ABC store, clothing stores, and shave ice right there as well. Groceries were expensive, drive to foodland. The beach is beautiful, it's on the east side of the island so it's not recommended for swimming due to rip currents. It is very close to lydgate beach which has a lava rock protected area to swim and snorkel, I recommend this for kid learning to snorkel. The pool is nice, has a bar and a hot tub. It also has three grills. Hit up costco and grill everynight. Keep the AC on dry setting for a more comfortable stay. THere is one blanket for the bed and one for the pullout as well as sheets and 4 pillows.
