Couples getaway

Michael R on Apr 19, 2024

Great trip! The service was outstanding. The resort was pristine. Amazing ocean front views from the room. We were in the reserve but had more fun by the big pool. I enjoyed the ocean swimming area- while small it was good enough and understandable given safety issues. In terms of food, the Italian resto (capella) was quite decent for dinner. Breakfast at sante was excellent and lunch at sante and agua marine were the best IMO. Special shout out to staff; Francisco at the pool; Daniel at the pool; and, concierge Tedd. I’d highly recommend.

Trip to Cabo

Drpace89 (Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah) on Apr 19, 2024

Never over promise and under deliver. This is exactly what I experienced. Wrong hotel room, we paid for a suite and we’re given a room with two queen beds. The restaurants we were supposed to have access to as reserve guests had limited availability and restrictions on the menu. We had a delayed bag from the airport and actually had more help from a competing hotel to retrieve it then our own. This is a management problem, the employees were wonderful but put in an impossible position. They had no ability to fix anything all we heard was we are sorry. The food we did have was really not good I will not return, for the price there are many better options!

False Advertising. Very misleading and disappointing.

AmFuzzy (Sammamish, Washington) on Apr 19, 2024

I chose this resort as a special place to celebrate my 60th birthday. It’s not what I expected or paid for. I’ll start with the positive. The facility and staff have been very nice. For a hotel that is over 30 years old but recently rebuilt after the hurricane 5 years ago after it’s a beautiful place. That’s the end of the positive. The location is about 25 minutes from downtown and in a much quieter location and one of the reasons we chose the location. However that became a negative because for two of the three nights we stayed one 1 of their 7 restaurants were open. We were left with a pool/garden BBQ buffet. No, Sante, no Sal the Steakhouse, no Asian or Mexican restaurant etc. I wasn’t informed at any point of my reservation or check in that this was going to be the case. Why pay >$650 a night for an “All-Inclusive” resort that hypes up its culinary experience when you are left with a pasta/Italian restaurant and a pool buffet??? Based on the many recommendations from other people who’ve stayed here we upgraded to The Reserve. What a joke and waste of money that has been. The room isn’t any different and with the exception of a private lounge and small bar, plus small “private” pool (about the size of a personal house inground pool), there isn’t much to justify the additional costs. Yes we had a “personal concierge” but there isn’t much reason to use them for plus the one assigned to us worked evening shifts and with all the best restaurants closed there was no need for help with anything that the staff onsite wasn’t happy to help with. The second, or third if you count the wasted upgrade to The Reserve, was the fact we especially chose this location because it is promoted and stated it was ADULTS ONLY. Once again not true. In the main garden there is a playground set which seemed odd, then we saw children walking around and at the main pool. WTF? Just about everything I chose the Melia Paradisus for was not what we received and experienced. The “justification” provided by the staff for the restaurants being closed was a religious holiday on Thursday but also extended to Friday. Yet no one or no where was this mentioned or noted at the time of our reservation or even when we had our “special” Reserve check in. As for having children staying here, the response was it was a private company event (not associated with the Malia) that they have every year and they allow the guests from that company to bring children. So it’s ADULT ONLY “sometimes”. What a bunch of nonsense. I’m sure they don’t care about a single couple who have never stayed at a Melia or this resort vs a company that has an event here every year. Sad. I’ve traveled all over the world to 71 countries and have never been sold a bunch of lies like this. I won’t come back or stay at another Melia as I simply can’t trust the description of the resort and the experience as promised and promoted. Very disappointing 60th birthday.

Lovely adult only all inclusive in San Jose

Naomi S on Apr 17, 2024

This property is a fabulous all inclusive in San Jose. Minutes from the airport and from sister city Cabo San Lucas(which is grimy in my humble opinion). The resort is lovely and a staff member did not pass me without saying hello. There are 7 restaurants and food quality is very good and food services are very organized. I had a garden view room and it was clean, and well appointed. 24/7 room service is also very nice. The rooms are equipped with a Nespresso machine and the mini fridge is stocked and replenished daily(as are some helpful snacks). The Melia brand of hotels are quite nice. I will definitely stay here again. The views of the ocean from the property are lovely. It’s right next door to a Hilton, and the signage is a little hidden away, so you may not even realize that you’ve arrived. They should move the signage to make it more prominent.
