Outdated buildings, lackluster customer service, and abysmal food. I ended up staying here while attending a conference in the area and I was too late to book one of the good hotels. I guess procrastination does not pay!

This is a Basic hotel Not a resort.

At the very most a 3* hotel Not a 4 * Arrival: Quick and easy as we were “VIP” !!! Room: Before we left, we paid $300.00 in total to upgrade at the Rosehall VIP section !!! room #7422. Bad decision. A total rip off…just to get a fridge, room service, adult section for beach and pool. This hotel is outdated in every aspect. At night on top of the air conditioner being so noisy, and with the patio door shut, you can hear the traffic, trucks, sirens go by, it’s unbelievable. The room is spacious, with a very very small bathroom with 2 very small wooden doors that opens/push from the inside !! Bed too soft but pillows comfortable. Small fridge which was restocked every day except the day before we left…? Very and I mean VERY noisy air conditioner, bring plugs if you want to sleep. We went to the nurse’s station to get cotton balls to put in our ears. Beach: The Island is what attracts people the most in my opinion. Water shoes recommended because of the rocky sand. The beach itself isn’t all that nice I’ve seen much better in Montego Bay. The adult section is worst. The island is windy, quiet which we enjoyed very much. Snorkelling was good. Beach Towels: Some of them need to be replaced. Beach and Island chairs are outdated. Paddle boats and kayaks are allowed in designated area only in between buoys. Pools: Adult pool is small. Main pool is big but very loud and busy. Jacuzzi: Not working and empty the whole time we were there (10 days) Playground: Not much for kids to enjoy, 2 swings, 2 slides very small. Mini Putt: Not maintained at all. Full of rocks, sand and leaves. Restaurants: REMEMBER THIS IS AN ALL-INCLUSIVE OR SO I THOUGHT… Jerk Hut: Daytime, good tender chicken, pork more dry and it’s free. But at night it’s $29.00 US each but on the beach. Good resorts don’t charge for BBQ nights on the beach Sea Breeze: On Valentine’s Day a surcharge of $40.00 US each for a limited menu. Sorrento: Italian dinning. It was good. Kenko: Japanese restaurant you have to pay $$. ?? Main buffet: Bland, very repetitive. Food lacks of variety. Breakfast station was excellent. Barefoot bar: Hamburgers, grilled cheese and fries were very good. (Shannon and Christopher are the best) Nightly entertainment: We were there every night and left because it was not entertaining at all except for the Michael Jackson show which was good. 1 out of 10 was good. Shopping: Do not go to the Excursion desk if you want the FREE SHUTTLE to the Rosehall Shopping Center. They will tell you to take a taxi. Go to the front desk or ask the guys at the main entrance. Room Service: Very limited choice about 6 items to choose from. It comes from the VIP Lounge on the second floor of building 7. Only sandwiches, salads etc. So if you want a real meal you can’t even order one. And you cannot bring food from the Jerk Hut, hamburgers, fries or the main buffet to your room. Hotel Grounds: They need to take better care of the trees, shrubs and grass. Long grass and untrimmed shrubs isn’t very attractive. Lifeguards and security guards Lifeguards or security guards do their best, but they have no support or control on situations from the management. And this is shameful. This is a smoke free hotel, signs are everywhere around the hotel, rooms, balcony, pools, and island, There are 2 designated areas for smoking. We saw people smoking on the island, the security guard told him to put it out and he practically laughed in his face, walked away continuing smoking and threw his cigarette in the ocean. Very good for the environment don’t you think !! PS: This hotel is money hungry in every aspect of the word. They will charge you for ridiculous things, such as taxis when you can have a free shuttle, for the Rosehall Shopping center. If you’re at VIP Section, on your bracelet it says free shuttle to Margarita Ville, they will also tell you that you cannot go shopping on the Hip Strip while in Margarita Ville. IT’S NOT TRUE. As long as you take something inside, ex: a drink, food or whatever keep your receipt to show the driver and you’ll be ok and go shopping.!! I DO NOT AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. We heard from the locals that this place is for sale. Let’s hope it’s for the better.

Cannot believe some of the bad reviews for this place, we had the best time ever staying here for 15 nights, only a 10 minute bus ride from the airport, quick check in, shown to our room within 15mins. 99% of the staff are great, everyone has there off days so not expecting them to be chirpy 24/7, but we had no problem wotsoever...we were there for my g/f's 50th birthday & she was ill all day, went to see the onsite nurse she came straight over to see her and got her sorted. Food was great, something for everyones taste (obviously not for them who just like a good moan). Beach was great we used the island everyday & never had a problem finding a sunbed, sea was great plenty of sealife saw plenty of fish you see in aquariums..favourite was the puffa fish just off the reef, it would take food out your hand once it got used to you, saw plenty of rays, turtles, lionfish, barracuda etc...even got the g/f into snorkling & she loved it. Rooms were nice plenty of room, ok bathrooms were a bit on the small side, but always had hot water, aircon worked great ok was a bit noisy but you soon got used to it. Only thing i found a bit disappointing was the entertainment at night, they do there best but just not my cup of tea. Overall we both loved it & can't wait to go back (hopefully this year). So imo ignore the negative comments & give this place a try i'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Firstly I will share the negatives. The road, we were in block 5 and room number 5205 which is very close to a very busy main road. We did ask to be moved but there was nothing available. I did get use to it but it would have been nicer to be woken by the sound of the sea rather than the road. Patio door, this was very stiff and hard to open and close so only really opened it just enough to get out onto the balcony. Sound proof, while you can expect some noise from other rooms when we were in the bathroom you could hear word for word what next door was talking about through the vent, I feel this needs to be looked at. The positives. The whole complex apart from a small area was non smoking (although you had a few that took no notice of the signs), as a non smoker this was a big welcome. The room, while it could do with a little updating it was kept clean each day, towels changed etc. The bed was huge and comfy. The food, I had enough to choose from, usually had an omelette for breakfast, perhaps a snack at lunch, sometimes from the jerk hut or a toasted sandwich and because I was never really hungry I ate a lot of chicken and salad which was always fresh, we did go to the Italian twice which was enjoyable. The staff especially Warren in the bar area, Joseph and shanequa in the restaurant each evening who looked after us very well. We spent most of our time on the little island and it was nice to see the fish swimming around our feet in the crystal clear water. Very good.

    The worst hotel stay ever!!!

I go back to the front desk and asked to be moved to another room they charged me $165.00. I paid for the upgrade room #2 (4138). This was a kids suite being that I had my son with me. This room was renovated, flooring much better. Bathroom updated. Here is the kicker , day 2 the toilet goes crazy. My son flushes the toilet, the toilet basically exploded. Water started to run from the toilet and feces alllllllllllllllllll over the bathroom and smelled horribly. The water and feces started to flow towards the front door of the room and towards our luggage. Imagine you are on vacation your suitcases and clothes are wet now smells like crap. The front desk was not apologetic about it, they moved us to another room . (Room #3 ) 1344 She goes “oh ocean view , jacuzzi”.. like really trying to sell this room. I didn’t care about that, at this point I just want to check out and get a full refund. This is ridiculous. Poor customer service , staff is very rude, unfriendly!! This hotel needs new management, hotel needs to be renovated and all new staff members. You pay all these money to get poor quality of service. It’s such a shame, I will never stay here. If you are looking for a good hotel book the Hilton Rose Hall resort, you won’t be disappointed!!!
