    Disappointing Stay

I've stayed in the All Star Resorts many times as well as the more expensive resorts. The upgraded rooms in All Star Movies really show how dated the non-upgraded rooms here are but, that isn't my biggest issue. Disney has instituted a ridiculous 'room check policy' where you can expect to be trespassed upon at any given time of the day by a low-level employee (who may or may not be able to communicate to you in English.) Cast members will give you a dead eyed stare and a canned speech on how this is 'to make you safe' and to 'make sure there are no issues.' As an adult world traveler, if there were issues in my room, I am quite able to dial that magical thing called a telephone to sort it out. Even if you have a do not disturb on your door they will try to push the door open, today they tried at 10:30am while I was still undressed and yelled as much through the door. I feel creeped out and am disgusted. Rethinking being a passholder. Shame on you Disney, as you are mostly up to speed on customer service but this policy is ridiculous - turning your resorts into a nanny state doesn't make anyone feel safe, just annoyed, bothered and not wanting to return. Warning to female solo travelers that this policy exists and to expect to be harassed at all hours of the day if you dare to be in your room that you paid good money for. I've never experienced something so incredibly stupid in all my years of traveling Do not disturb means... DO NOT DISTURB.

I'll be honest and say I did not expect much from this resort having heard quite negative stories but I was pleasantly suprised. Location wise, it was perfect, only 5-15 minutes away from the parks depending which one you were going to. The rooms were spacious and newly decorated and all seemed to be an acceptable walking distance to reception. I loved the fact that the pool was opened until 10pm as it meant we could go for a dip after we got back from a park and wanted to cool down in the evenings. The cast members always said a friendly hello as we passed and were extremely helpful in providing advice or information. There wasnt any children in my party but its clear as day this is a perfect choice for families not only because of the facilities (pools, game room, football pitch etc) but also because it was very well guarded and safe. My only complaint (which is about the park in general) is that the food portions were very small and extremely overpriced. 6 dollars for an ice cream is an outrageous amount to charge so I would consider bringing my own snacks in future. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would come back again.

We just spent 10 nights here and we were highly impressed. We have stayed at several other Disney resorts and decided it was time to give this one a try. With myself not being a big sports fan, I did not expect to enjoy it much, but I absolutely LOVED it! All of the themes are fun and done very well. The food court has a good variety of food and I wasn't unimpressed with anything I tried (I highly recommend the Chicken Penne Alfredo!). All of the employees we were in contact with were extremely kind and knowledgeable. They are also about to start remodeling all of the rooms to give guests more space, I plan on going back when the remodel is finished!

Just returned home from staying here for 17 nights have been to Orlando lots but never stayed in a Disney hotel we loved it. The room is pretty small and could do with more storage especially with how long we stayed there some more drawers would have been great rather than a table and chairs. This hotel needs an update which is coming next year I believe but we enjoyed our stay. We opted out of mouse keeping and got 160 on a gift card which was really easy to use and would just ask housekeeping for more towels/ toilet roll etc. The cup was amazing $20 and we refilled it every morning and a few times a night. The room had a hairdryer so no need to take one. The food court was really expensive but that's Disney made even worse by the £ exchange at the mo. We went and got snacks from Walmart and ate out and at the parks most the time the 192 is a few minutes drive with loads of food options. I did notice that they had toasters and microwave in the food hall and saw people making there own food in here which I thought was a good idea especially if you just want some toast and dont want to pay Disney price for toast. We had a lovely time and loved the Marshmallow roasting etc we was hardly in our room but it was a great base we had a car and I didnt get charged parking as they dont charge parking if your from UK thank god also loved that we got free park parking as well. Great stay.

    Don't worry - it's perfectly fine!

I was clearly beside myself with excitement for our Disney trip, but after reading some of the negative reviews on here was feeling somewhat nervous about staying at All Star Sports. I needn't have been. I must stipulate that we aren't hotel snobs - we've stayed in a mixture of very very nice hotels around the world right through to Premier Inns or even B&Bs in Blackpool! I am however a stickler for cleanliness and Sports did not disappoint. There was just my husband and I (we're in our early 30s). The rooms are 'motel style' and fairly small. They have two double beds (we sleep in a super king at home so pushed ours together!), a small fridge, a table, a sink area and a bathroom. The best comparison point I can give it to ask you to imagine a UK Travelodge with pictures of Goofy on the wall. Subtext for totally adequate. Let's be honest: if you're doing Disney right, you won't spend much time awake in your hotel. You'll get up so early and back so late you will just fall asleep as soon as you lay down. Do not pay a premium for any other hotel. You use the same type of shuttle buses, stand in the same queues for the same rides, and meet the same characters in the parks as those who've paid thousands of pounds more for their stay. Play it smart and resort hop: eat in the Contemporary and Grand Floridian, watch the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian, and spend a lovely tranquil mid-week evening out at the Boardwalk. Then sleep safe in the knowledge you don't need to re-mortgage your house to experience all these things. My only gripe was that reception was always slow (I don't mean the queue, I mean the interaction): check in, needing help with the My Disney Experience app, dining reservations, seemingly simple queries. I don't know if they use All Stars for training / under performers, but that was (sadly) the impression I got. Needless to say this did not ruin my holiday, and my questions were always sufficiently sorted once a manager got involved. A few paranoid thoughts of mine solved: 1. Will the shuttle buses be terrible like some reviews suggest? No. They run every 20 mins, mostly more frequently. You might have to stand when you leave the park straight after the fireworks, but you will be fine. This will not ruin your holiday, or your life. 2. I'm a fussy eater, is the food really generic and bad? No. The selection is the same every day, but there is ample variety. If you are clever you will only eat here once anyway, and even that will only be because you are shattered and/or have ran out of snacks you bought on your jaunt to Target. 3. I've not booked a preferred room and I am terrible at walking, am I going to be a million miles away? (Believe me, I am no walker when I am at home). No. Honestly I was happier with being far away because it meant that when we got back it was deadly silent. The closer you are to the bus stop, the closer you are to the pool (which is open until 11pm), poolside activities and the bar. To conclude: just stay here, Disney is THE BEST and this place does the job it needs.
