Disappointed
Reviewed by marthaa272(Asheville) on Apr 17, 2021
We traveled to Disney for a long weekend and were assigned to a one bedroom villa. Premium price and very outdated, poor quality accommodation. Nothing to look at out the windows, noisy between rooms, odd bathroom layout. I do not recommend this resort at all.
Disney Boulder Ridge deluxe studio villa
Reviewed by 504lauriel() on Apr 01, 2021
We stayed at one of the deluxe studios and was disappointed. The room was on the 3rd floor all the way down with a view of the garbage. The cost of this place did not match the accommodations. We have stayed at much nicer hotels for way less money. Honestly we have never stayed at a hotel as expensive. The only pro was the proximity to Magic Kingdom. We had arrived to the lodge after staying at a Marriott timeshare in Palm Beach which was has down so much better including the mattress in the pull out couch. I am surprised people continue to pay the amount we paid to stay at deluxe studio. We did express our disappointment and were moved to first level studio. The tv didn’t work so they ended up replacing it or so they say. It did work after they did. Needless to say we will never stay again at the deluxe studios at Boulder Ridge. We had contemplating moving to Art of Animation as at least the price of the rooms likely would have marched the accommodations a bit more adequately. I did take a photo of the view from the 3rd floor however it says the photo is too big to attach.

This resort is absolutely beautiful. The lobby, the room, the views, everything. We were upgraded to a one bedroom and it was one of the nicest rooms we've stayed in. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great view off the balconies. Most of the castmembers were very kind and friendly. The pool area is very nice as well. Whispering canyon was delicious and we will definitely go again. The roaring fork was good pretty standard quick service, but the campfire cupcake was so good I wish we brought one home! The boat to magic kingdom was so convenient and a nice way to start and end your day. The bus service was fine pretty standard. Overall we loved it here and can't wait to be back!
No Hot Water - Wasted my DVC Points Staying here.

This property is soooo beautiful and I wish I could give it 5 stars but this is my 2nd stay here with NO HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER. It was Luke warm. They couldn’t fix it our first stay, and this stay was one night but we couldn’t relax and stay warm. This happened in 2 different rooms 3 months apart and at all different times of the day, and the weather was very cold. I wasted my dvc ownership points staying here. I was contacted by dvc member services by a nice lady but it didn’t change the fact that I booked and wasted points here and couldn’t enjoy it. The Disney I know would’ve offered some sort of return on points or compensation for this horrible experience but they did not. I am so disappointed.
Outdated, Mediocre, Small Room

First of all... loved my Disney experience. DWL has a very nice lobby and great pool area. I love that it’s located on the water and we took advantage of the water transportation to MK and watched the water pageant. (Definitely not from our room) Why only 2 stars? It would have been 1 star, if not for the positives I already mentioned. Our room was not close to the lobby, which we specifically requested. We were in the Boulder Creek section and is in desperate need for remodeling. Let’s keep in mind that we did not have a discounted rate... we paid over $400 a night. The outdated room was small and nothing was “nice”. No Disney themed anything and we might as well have stayed in motel. The TV didn’t work 2 if our 4 days and it was small. (About the size of a microwave) it was obviously old and the LCD was burning out. My 4 year old was so excited to see the recorded fireworks show from MK, but the tv didn’t work that night. The room has a bed hidden on the TV entertainment center, which worked well for our lil guy. Bed was a full, springy, and pillows were not comfortable. We had a tiny kitchenette with an old microwave. The utensils were all plastic with rubber bands around them. We had two paper cups, paper bowls, and paper plates. Small refrigerator served the need, but a tad too small. We had nothing to cook with... we used a small glass ball jar we travelled with to microwave eggs. Toaster was fine. Shower was small and basic... everything plain white. So if that want enough, staff were not that friendly. Check in was not contactless because they never sent us info. Check in was okay, but it upset me that hey offered NO assistance to our room. (We had 6 bags and a 4 year old and the room was NOT close) not even an offer. During our stay we had food delivered and when I met the delivery person the food was loaded on a luggage cart. The bell person said, “You can use it, but huh have to bring it back”. Am I wrong to think it would have been nice to offer assistance or ask what room I was in so they could retrieve it? I’m happy to tip. But no... so in my flip flops and wet swim suit I had to walk the distance and back again to appease them and make sure I was no inconvenience. During our 5 days there, and walking around, staff just weren’t friendly. Never a hello. So disappointing. This didn’t seem like Disney in the slightest. It was during Covid, I understand, but no characters, lack of hospitality, and bad food choices. We got some food at about 9pm for our son and it was literally like a bad cafeteria or convenience store. A square of pizza and two chicken fingers... Literally just two small fingers in a box = $15. They didn’t even give any take out utensils. It was on a cafeteria tray that I had to carry off. Restaurants may have had limited menu options. We stayed at WL because our friends have a 2 bedroom as part of DVC. We visited their room and it was BEAUTIFUL!! Huge, state of the art TVs, walk in closet, FULL kitchen, 3 queen size beds. Night and day. I will say, that I expressed my disappointment to the front desk lady at the end of our stay and she was apologetic and admitted that our room was outdated. Ugh. Maybe Disney will give us a second chance to impress. This visit did not encourage us to stay at a Disney resort again. Again.... Disney parks were amazing and we’ll be back... many times!
