I am not the easiest customer to please -- so I'm pleasantly surprised to write the following after arriving worried about some of the reviews I read! Things I liked: 1. Efficient check in -- they apparently didn't have the room type we'd booked so gave us an upgrade to a studio suite with ocean view (so lovely to hear the ocean as background noise!) 2. Room was clean, cleaned daily, and bottled water replenished daily (in spite of a sign saying it wouldn't be!). It was slightly odd to me not to have two bedside tables, but I used a chair and...well, that worked. 3. Food -- the buffet was great! The themed choices varied daily and this picky pescatarian found more than enough to eat (I gained 5 lbs. over the week -- that's a whole other story). They were also quite accommodating about letting us hang out when it was "closed" between meals. The restaurants were also good -- we ate at the Mexican and Japanese. The Mexican was really good and had several appealing options. The Japanese was fine - I'm not a fan of a set menu, but it was nicely done. I'd advise booking your restaurants ahead of time as we had to juggle our plans a bit to make it all fit...December is busy it seems! 4. Gym -- I used the treadmill when available, and ran outdoors when it wasn't. Apparently not enough to shift the aforementioned 5 lbs. ;) Enough equipment for a decent workout and it was clean. 5. New Years Eve -- what a fantastic and unexpected event! Beautifully presented decor, great entertainment, fantastic food! A lovely surprise! 6. Location -- we were able to walk into Puerto Vallarta for yoga and lunch. Also handy for buses -- we took a local bus to Sayulita for the day. Ask at front desk for instructions -- it's easy :) 7. The general resort was clean, well kept up, and staff were friendly. The "luxury pool" was very quiet, unlike the main pool. It was nice to have options. The beach varied daily based on the tide, but the little palapas with loungers were great! I'd recommend without hesitation and plan on going back again at some point!

Don’t believe the bad review’s. This hotel is spotlessly clean. The food is plentiful and as good as any all inclusive hotel I have stayed in, yes sometimes the buffet food could be hotter but in my experience any buffet food is the same . It’s very difficult to keep such a large amount of food hot and by they time you have chosen food then walked to your table it’s obviously not going to be scalding, The a la carte restraints are good and our favourite was the Italian. The pool areas a kept immaculate and there are three pools to choose from ,one is at the sister hotel and is quiet. The beach is quite small and depending on the tide can be stoney, but after speaking to other people most of the beaches in this part of Mexico are the same . The location is very good just a 25 minute walk to the Malecon or 80 peso’s in a taxi, the Marina is the other way and takes around 1hour to walk and is around 100 peso’s via taxi. Buses are plentiful at 10 peso’s each where ever you get on or off. Staff are very helpful and will get anything you want . The holiday was brilliant and we saw so much Whale watching a fabulous Cirque du soleil Style show all via Vallarta Adventures who also deserve a mention for there exceptional organisation.

Really disappointed in the quality of this hotel. The hotel room smelt of damp. We had 1 large bed & only 1 bedside cabinet despite bedside lights on both sides. No joy resolving, so for the duration I placed a chair by my bed, so I could place simple things such as a bottle of water within reach. We were queuing in the hot sunshine at the restaurant on a regular basis. – they couldn’t cope with the volume. Part of the hotel collapsed whilst we were there - if anyone had been underneath it, they would likely have been killed or seriously injured. Brick & sheets of glass were broken & fell down onto the ground. My partner is a builder, so I am not saying this lightly. As we were at the beach each day (vaping/smoking area), we couldn’t avoid building work taking place on an apartment facing the sea. This involved constant drilling - there was no notification before booking that this was taking place. Had we known we could have chosen another location. They advertise the beach as “caramel sands” – No! You need beach shoes to get in the sea, due to the pebbles & rocks outside the hotel. Over the course of our holiday, the quality of the beach deteriorated further and further. There was no effort to clean the beach of cigarette stubs / rubbish and the hotel need to educate locals as well as guests to look after the beach. However, you can’t argue that this is the same along the coast as other hotels looked after their beach.

    Pleasant surprise

I’d like to address some of the negative issues expressed by some on here which frankly I just cannot understand ! Having spoke to other guests who were equally confused by these comments , I feel the hard working team here need recognition . Due to a mix up in booking , I was re located here for my 2 week stay & after reading some reviews here ,I arrived with some trepidation . On arrival , I immediately felt the excellent customer care that was to be a prevalent factor from all departments throughout my stay . Every staff member actively seeks to serve you - unusual in an all inclusive resort . You are immediately approached should you have an empty drinks glass - whether on the beach , round the pool , or eating at the various venues . Plenty of keen staff , warmly offering more drinks . Impressive , as they are not merely tips- seeking , just being pro active in their service style . Next , the food . Where do these stories of cold , uninspired food come from ?? Every day that buffet changed , using imaginative selections , freshly prepared & presented . I’d defy anyone to not find something to eat , plus with extended meal times , food is almost non stop , with constant replenishment . Next , cleanliness . Again a full team , working from morning till night on the grounds , housekeeping, maintenance & poolside - I never saw as much as a leaf drop in that pool ! My room had a perfectly powerful , controllable shower, spotless housekeeping, a well stocked fridge & 2 large comfortable beds . But it is the incredible , friendly , welcoming staff who ensure the many , many repeat visitors I kept overhearing being enthusiastically welcomed back. No wonder people return as it simply doesn’t compute to me as a 3 star resort - I have stayed 5plus Star & not been as impressed , so , well done to the fantastic team here - I certainly hope to return ,& thank you for my wonderful holiday experience.

Arrived Christmas Day for a2 week stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. Check in was efficient and we were shown to our room, as other reviews suggest they are a little dated, but it was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel as a whole is fantastic. The staff are friendly. The staff in the lobby bar are efficient, good choice at breakfast. There are 4 a la carte restaurants you can use and the food and service are excellent. Francisco at the luxury pool is fantastic, he looks after everyone brilliantly always with a smile. The location of the hotel is great just a short taxi ride or around 20 minute stroll to downtown and the centre. Security at the beach and at the entrance is efficient. I would definitely recommend and return to this hotel. There is a bus Stop at the front of the hotel and a bus can be caught to Sayulita for a reasonable price.
