We were on March break. There were not many people. The food was excellent. Many thanks to the cook. Nice big swimming pool with clean water. Only the bar drinks need to improve. The room was excellent, spacious. Nice bathroom. Many thanks to the resort staff. We will definitely come back again.

We had a wonderful stay at Vik. We came for spring break and after reading the recent reviews we were expecting the worst, but we had a really relaxing, fun, and enjoyable vacation! The food at the buffet, restaurant, and snack bar were delicious, we definitely recommend going for the Mexican night at the restaurant. All the resort staff were very friendly, the entertainment team was energetic, and the nighttime shows were entertaining. The resort consists of a more older and family crowd, all of which would return to their rooms after the night time shows, so there wasn’t much of a nightlife. We did however make friends our age and ended up having a fun time after everyone went to bed. The beach was definitely suffering from erosion which was disappointing, and there are a TON of sand fleas, we’re all covered head to toe, so we recommend sitting by the pool. It was never difficult to find seats at the beach or the pool no matter what time of day. One of the pools was closed which was disappointing but the other one never got overly crowded so it wasn’t a big deal. A lot of the reviews say the rooms are outdated, but considering the vibe and aesthetic of the resort we would say they were fine. The cleaning staff were very friendly and always accommodated to us. Overall, we had an amazing vacation. Given the price, I would say you are given exactly what you’re paying for, and majority of these reviews are inaccurate. Special shoutout to Rafael, Tony, Pascual, the whole entertainment team, and the omelette chefs!
Good value for the price.

We were at Vik Arena Blanca Feb11 -19 2024 with my family(4 people) We got a good deal for our package which we are taking into consideration when making this review. Admittedly yes, the beach has erosion issues which is in the works of being rehabilitated. Yes, one of the pools was shut down due to maintenance. Having said that, I can definitely say the food was very good with lots of variety. The a la carte restaurant had plenty of tasty dishes to satisfy everyone. No one in my family was sick which is a first since we come to the DR regularly. If you are gluten free, you may talk to the head chef who will take care of your needs. Weather was perfect, staff was great. I was wary due to the negative reviews of this hotel and came away pleasantly surprised. I did some random polling of fellow guests and had only one complaint out of 10 about their stay here. Rooms were clean and functional, a tad dated but suited our needs. We are not that fussy and took things in stride. If you are looking for perfection expect to pay a lot more and book elsewhere.
Just ok

Stayed for 5 days recently. Hotel is smaller which is good as everything is close. Large variety of drinks and A la carte dinners were great with no reservations needed. Rooms are spacious but we had no hot water for most of our 5 day stay. Air conditioning didn't work, patio doors had no ability to lock. Garden staff, wait staff are friendly. Staff at bar could not smile if their lives depended on it. The recent hurricane wrecked the beach. It is very eroded. 20% as nice as the online photos show. Unavoidable but should be disclosed. Also 1 of the 2 pools closed for repairs until the fall.
Very poor conditions, management, safety and ownership responsibility.

I can not believe Westjet Vacations is still offering this package to your unsuspecting customers. I will be very disappointed in Westjet if Vik Hotel Arena Blanca is not removed immediately. There are so many problems with this "resort" including senior safety items, poor or non existent management decisions, no air conditioning, dangerous access to the beach. The list goes on and on. If a Westjet representative is not personally checking out the properties they offer should be. This one is a definite blight on your well earned reputation.
