I have reviewed this resort twice before, but not when Covid protocols were involved. I can state that everything possible was done to ensure safety. Staff were consistent in the wearing of masks. The Covid testing process was simple and convenient. Of the many Karisma resorts we have visited (as Exotic members), this is one of our favorites. Ana and Nylsee went beyond the norm to answer our questions and make us welcome. We spent a lot of time at the pool where Dorian and Miguel were butlers. There attention was consistent and much appreciated. Our concierge for building 2 (Yadi) treated us like old friends and Rodrigo (front desk) handled our requests with efficiency and friendliness. I also want to acknowledge the care and concern exhibited by the resort staff and medical personnel (Dr. Arzaga) who responded quickly and thoroughly to a fall in the lobby. Spoon and Le Chique were closed because of Covid protocols, but the other other restaurants were welcoming,. And Noel (at Pizza Pizza) made an extra effort to learn our names and anticipated our lunch order. A great week.

Just returned from a spring break trip with my kids (19 and 11), Azul did not disappoint. It is a mid size resort with a zen like feel, so if you’re looking for a party, pour tequila down your throat kind of place this might not be for you. We were there the third week of March and the resort was only about 50% occupied. Here’s my humble opinion, hope it helps: Rooms: we were in building 3, first floor and had two rooms (one double 3122 with a sofa bed and one king 3125). I think our travel agent may have upgraded our rooms a little because they were huge! We were perfectly located as the pool with Zavaz swim up bar was literally step from our patio and we were steps from the beach. It was perfect! There were plenty of towels, robes, the mini bar was adequate and there is both a little coffee maker and an electric hot water heater for tea which was great. The beds were comfortable, plenty of lighting, and the air conditioning worked great. The rooms have a circular jet tub which is great in theory, but it takes FOREVER to fill them so just know that! Each building has a concierge building to assist you with reservations or anything else you need. Erica was very helpful. If you download the app you have access to request anything you need for your room, like extra towels, room service, etc, mini bar restock, etc. It also has the daily activities as well as the menus for the restaurants. Food: compared to the other resorts I’ve been to, the food here was soooo much better! Only four of the six restaurants were open but there was still enough of a selection for us. Room service is 24 hours. The buffets were not open but I personally found it easier to just order room service for breakfast than to go to the restaurants. There is a walk up theme buffet type thing on the beach and they’re making burgers every day. The pizza place by the kids pool was really good as well. Drinks: Again, compared to the other resorts the booze selection was pretty on point (Tito’s, Bombay, decent tequila, Jack, etc.) We spent a lot of time at Zavaz swim up bar and on the beach. There is beach service, as well as a cute beach bar at one end of the resort. Needless to say we never went thirsty, and the bartenders (Juan at Zavaz and Aaron on the beach were great about making virgin drinks for my 11 year old so she didn’t feel left out!) Beach/Pool: Ok, it’s Puerto Morelos so yes there is the seaweed. If you’re looking for clear water you’ve got to go other north to Cancun or south toward Playa. The guys on the beach worked tirelessly to keep it under control. It was crazy windy when we were there so the waves were huge and it was red flag. It was slightly calmer toward the end if the week. There are covered cabanas on the beach that are first come first serve, as well as beach chairs. We never had an issue getting a spot. We spent most of our time at the Zavaz pool so I can’t really speak for the others but they all looked nice. There is an adults only pool/bar and a kids pool. They were all very clean and well maintained. Service: We experienced great service the entire time we were there. Jose Luis, the pool/beach server, is AMAZING! He knew our drink orders by the end of the first day and would call out to us no matter if we were at the beach or the pool. He has the best attitude and was like family by the end of the week! Juan at Zavaz pool bar always took the extra step to muddle my limes for me and make my daughter’s virgin Superman’s extra special. I can’t say enough about these two, but really everyone was extremely kind and provided great service. Room service can be ordered at any time...I did notice the wait times rising toward the end of the week but I knew that the resort was getting more crowded due to Easter. Just be patient. The gym is adequate; however, because you need a reservation and people tend to snap them all up I was only able to get in there a couple of times. But there are outdoor classes and a great set of stairs to run up and down if you want to worn out outside. COVID: ALL the staff wear masks, there’s hand sanitizer everywhere, they sanitize your luggage when you arrive. The COVID testing process was fairly smooth, you make your appointment the day you get in. Honestly we had more issues at the airport than at the resort, so if the whole testing thing is deterring you from coming, don’t let it! Note that guests are left to decide if they want to mask or not in the common areas; if this is something you’re concerned about you may want to consider an area with more strict mask policies. We were just fine and never felt unsafe at any time. One of the only cons was the room service cart clanking down the tiled floor at 3:00 am and the server banging on the neighbors door like the world was coming to an end. But that only happened one time. This was my third trip to Riviera Maya but our first time at the Azul Beach Resort, and I have to say I would definitely come back here again. Hands down the best food and best room I’ve stayed in. The service was outstanding from start to finish.

We are a part of the Karisma Resorts - Exotic Travel membership programs. We had never been to this resort and because we want to get to everyone of the resorts we decided to book here. We had a wonderful time, especially in this COVID timeframe, the resort kept us very safe, with top-level service. We stayed mostly at the pool area every day and were served by Lucia, Blanca and Uriel. They were very polite and accommodating. We were never without something to drink when we want it!. While we stayed at the resort as a couple, there were many families there too. The resort is very family friendly with a special area for children. If I had younger children, I would have bring them here.. Overall, I would not hesitate to come back. If you come here, you will be pleased and have a great time.

Took our family for spring break and had a great time! It was our first family vacation with just our immediate family and my kids first time to Mexico. Our first day there my 9 year child said, “everyone is so happy and nice here!!” That is true! Our favorite was Gio from the entertainment staff! He was always so good with the kids and playing music by the pool that they requested!! We also loved Aaron at the beach bar and Jaico at the swim up bar! If you love to hang out at the beach this isn’t your place. Also don’t buy the tomahawk and lobster! We decided to do that for Easter dinner. The steak was fatty and the lobster was small and cold. At checkout we got our tab. I agreed to pay $115 for steak and shrimp, but then the receipt was later itemized and a $48 dollar bottle of wine was on the bill which we didn’t order or receive. We couldn’t get out of the charge. Lesson learned! As you can see from photo I accepted the $115 charge in black pen and then he went and added the break down in blue pen after I told him that we don’t drink wine.

    Very Good BUT !!!!!

Just returned from Azul Beach Resort. This was our 2nd trip here, we visited last November for 5 days. As many many people have commented on here, the staff are exceptional, especially the long time members of staff. The hotel bought in extra staff to cope with the higher demand over the Easter period. One member of staff , Sebastian(think it was his name) was our waiter in the Italian Restaurant, this was his 1st night as a waiter and he did an exceptional job, unfortunately he was only on a 2 week contract, hopefully the resort will add him to their full time staff as he will be a great addition for them. A special mention to Noel and Lupita in the PIZZA PIZZA Restaurant, their customer service skills are superb, they try to get to know everyone and family personally. The staff even remembered us from our last visit in November, little things like this make you feel so special and make a huge difference, Thank you Alma, Dorian and Miguel and also a special mention to Erica. The resort is spotless, the pools are amazing, rooms very good, and the food very tasty. So where is the BUT !!!!!! BREAKFAST WAITING TIME !!!! Unfortunately we are all having to deal with Covid, the resort is taking this extremely seriously, Masks, hand sanitation, temp checks, covid tests, spray luggage at entry, table spaced apart in restaurants, etc, But this has also resulted in the main buffet Resaurant to be closed. For lunch there are plenty of choices and spread out throughout the day, dinner, you have to make reservations in the restaurants, but breakfasts seem to have problems. Every morning we waited for upto an hour to be served our breakfast, or upto 40 mins to just have our order taken, or 30 mins just to be seated. All these issues could have been solved if they had opened the buffet restaurant, All the staff could have been serving from the buffet, so no need for customers to touching food (other hotels do this extremely well) This would have solved the problem of everyone trying to eat breakfast in one of the 3 small restaurants and waiting for every meal to be individually cooked to order. Maybe this was just an issue due to the Hotel being busy over the easter period BUT they solved the problem for all other meal times, surely this could have solved the breakfast issue. Anyway, it was great to be back and as always it was sad to leave. Thank you for a great 5 days.
