Great Entertainment Team

Thank you to Naomi, Arturo, Rodrigo, and Oscar for making our trip so much fun. Even though they had a reduced team as a result of COVID they went all in to include us in really fun activities. These 4 lovely people were the highlight of the trip!
Our trip was awesome!

The food and drinks were great. The staff was friendly and helpful....especially Azusena in Guest Services! Everywhere on the resort was clean and well-maintained. There were some limited options - to be expected with Covid restrictions. The excursion options were also great! We had two people in our party that are Vegan - and they were well accommodated too - that was especially nice. I would absolutely recommend this place and would go back again! The only small items I might suggest to the hotel would be to serve a continental breakfast in the lobby earlier than the buffet opening at 7am. The tours leave around 7am and you are gone all day without any breakfast. I also did not like having to use the App for everything. I'm older and old fashion, so I realize that is my problem - but some people still like to call or have a regular menu. But again, all in all - it was phenomenal!
Belated Honeymoon!!

My husband and I visited Ocean Maya Royale for a belated honeymoon last week. We were NOT disappointed. Our first all inclusive resort and we can not wait to come back. Arturo, Rodrigo and Oscar were SO much fun! They are one of a kind and this resort is so lucky to have them. The resort was clean, the staff was attentive and the spa was heavenly. We loved how the resort offered a few excursions so we did not have to travel far. The Sea doos and snorkeling were money well spent!!
Amazing Vacation Even During Covid
Reviewed by ajh22(Voorhees, NJ) on Apr 05, 2021
What an amazing time we had! I was a bit nervous about the changes due to Covid but once we arrived at our favorite resort all of my concerns melted away! We have been to Ocean Maya Royale many times and it feels home to us. The staff always greets us warmly when we arrive and throughout the entire vacation can't do enough to make sure we are happy and having fun! We LOVE the size of the resort, small enough to walk around easily but large enough that it never seems crowded at all. This time the resort was only at about 30% capacity and it felt like we were the only ones there. There were plenty of staff members working tirelessly to make sure our vacation was perfect. Making dinner reservations was an easy process now that they have added an online option to do so. Even though only a few dining options were offered each night, it was plenty to choose from. Meals were delicious and freshly prepared as usual and service was excellent. Entertainment was amazing even without some of the usual activities and shows. The crew did an excellent job making sure there were always things to do if you wanted to participate. My family just wanted to chill on the beach and relax which we were able to do all week. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. Each day we would see work being done to keep it that way...bushes being trimmed, plants being watered, tiles in the pool being scrubbed, housekeeping sanitizing public areas and other routine things. The resort arranged for Covid testing to be done on site for those of us returning to the US. It was done quickly and efficiently and without any charge to us! Yes there are some changes due to covid but it certainly did not change how we felt about our time at our favorite home away from home! Do not be afraid to book your trip, the staff at the resort needs our support to get it up and running again for all to enjoy. They are ready to work and make sure you have an excellent vacation in paradise.
Beautiful and comfortable, but needs some consideration

This was my first experience with an all-inclusive resort, and, though I enjoyed the trip, I've decided that this isn't how I want to vacation. I doubt that I have any new information, so I'll share my pros and cons for future travelers: Pros: * It's a beautiful place in a good location. * Quality restaurants and bars * Comfortable rooms * Courteous, friendly, and helpful staff * "Adults only" makes it easy to avoid crowds of spring breakers. Cons: * Far too concerned with selling extras: memberships, massages, premium meals and drinks. Sometimes with a lot of pressure. * Too little information. The person who meets you at check-in is there to sign you up for a presentation (up to 4 hours), not to help you get oriented. We constantly had to ask staff to find out when certain restaurants were open and what things were included under our all-inclusive. There is no guidebook in the room or a website with FAQ's. * Nothing nearby. Transportation into Cancun or Playa del Carmen is expensive. We did sign up for the "shopping tour", which turned out to be an hour in a single jewelry store followed by 2 hours in Playa del Carmen (shortened to 1.5 hours for us). A shuttle service into town shared by all the local resorts would be a great option. * Though you're in sight of the ocean, you can't swim there because of strong waves and sargasso. The nearest public beach is a very long walk or costly cab ride. The pool is great, but it might not be what you're wanting in a beach vacation.
