This is the ideal hotel for San Francisco if you want to do lots of touristy things. Very close to Fisherman’s Wharf which is very busy, especially in the afternoon, it’s ideal for spot for biking the Golden Gate Bridge (2 hr bike hire included in the resort fee) and Pier 39 is just a short walk from the hotel (we recommend visiting the Sealions in the morning as it gets very busy). This hotel is also very close to two Cable Car turnaround points and the street car stops nearby. So we fitted quite a lot in during our stay thanks to the proximity of the Hotel to all these things. We enjoyed breakfast at the Blue Mermaid too but there are cheaper restaurants which are just as good very nearby.

Great location- not so great customer service

Rooms are spacious and clean and cannot fault the location, within walking distance of Pier 39, Ghiradelli shopping centre, Pier 33 for Alcatraz, Big Bus departures and cable cars. However BEWARE of the hidden costs. Rooms are supplied with not only a fully stocked, and chargeable, mini-bar but also wine ($25 for a half bottle), mineral water ($6 for a litre bottle) and even cute soft toy sea lions on the beds ($14). If you have children in tow resist the vast array of confectionery on display- it comes at a premium. Perhaps the biggest cost- a $100 per night pending charge to your credit card in lieu of costs incurred taken on check-in and assured would be refunded on check out- IT ISN'T! Several days and emails after checking out, and having incurred no costs, I still await refund of $400- pending yes, but will count towards your card credit limit. Quick to take not so quick to return and no response or acknowledgement to email requests. Shame the customer service lets this place down.

Great location, hotel and superb staff with a couple of gripes

The hotel is in a superb spot on the main front road with the wharf on the opposite side. A lot of history to the building that is refelcted very nicely within each room. Check-in was a superb experience, thank you to the two lovely and professional ladies that looked after me. we could not access our room immediately, so were offered two free drinks in the attcahed restaurant, which was brilliant as we met the Greek/American barman who was also superb. We had room 350, with great views of Alcatraz in the bay. The room was long and a little slim, but see photos, it was lovely. Facilities included well stocked fridge - contents are chargeable-, safe, brolley, iron and board and T&C machine. No complimentary water - you can buy at small $3.50 or large $6.00. The hotel also provided a full bottle of white wine for our anniversary. My first gripe is the cost of the valet parking - $65 + $10 should you wish to use your car during the stay. Apparently you can park cheaper yourself, so maybe something you consider. Bathroom was lovely, with wall mounted Noble House toiletries. Everywhere is walkable from the hotel, which includes restaurant, and Ben and Jerry's, yum. There were so many fantastic staff, two of the bell hops that greet you at the kerb (wish I got your names, but the offer to invest in Powell Street is still there!!), you were brilliant, fun and professional, a real credit to the hotel as was the reception team. Concierge let the side down a little, showing no real concern with her wi-fi connection problems, shame that. Highly recommended.

I stayed at the Argonaut with my family for two days and it was great. The wharf was beautiful, not too noisy and very touristy. We were greeted by Prince who took care of our luggage and explained how the hotel worked. He was very nice, spoke french for my parents to understand and had a very positive vibe. He took us to our room and again was very sweet. Because of the service and the great rooms, I’d love to come back to this hotel. Hopefully Prince will still be there!

Nice hotel was set on a prime tourist street. Park next to the hotel, Ghiradelli chocolate factory one block away, pier 39 a half mile down the street. Restaurant, ice cream place and bicycle rental shop attached to hotel. Rooms were quaint and neat. AC lacked a little to be desired... then again when you are from Texas you make every place freezing as possible because you are use to melting during the day. Lobby has games out on tables in front of the fire place. Makes for a great time warming yourself by the fire and playing games. Bay view from the park next door was breath taking. Clear view of Golden Gate Bridge from the hotel, when it isn’t foggy.
