Terrible food. Great beach.

Go there for the beach then go somewhere else to eat. Occasionally the food was slightly above average but for the most part it was disappointing.

Lovely setting with great service

Secrets Cozumel is in a wonderful three resort complex that includes two resorts that allow children and one that is adult only. There are 12 restaurants all together, diving facility on the property and snorkeling in the ocean right off the shore. You can just walk into a bay full of fish!

Better than expected

After reading several reviews before traveling, I really did not expect much. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the pools and rooms need some TLC, but they are doing it as they can. The food was edible, don't believe those that say it is not. It may not be 5 star, but you will not starve. The barefoot grill has great snacky items, the burger was actually pretty good. The room/suite we were assigned had not been remodeled, but it was still clean. Dated? yes, but clean. The shower was hot, the A/C was cold. Turn the fans on, makes a huge difference. The beach dinner was over the top. The massage at the spa was over the top. There is shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, sunscreen & bug spray in the room for you. The staff are amazing. Vicky by the Oceana pool goes above and beyond to make sure your drinks are always filled. TIP: if you're a beer drinker, ask for an ice bucket to keep a couple ice cold. Chair broke, need an umbrella open or sunglasses cleaned, there's staff that do this as well. Yes, we tend to tip for good service as we are from the US and what we are used to. It's not the best of the Secrets resorts, but they have potential. We look forward to going back.

An excellent fun resort

laing1 (Bracebridge, Canada) on Apr 19, 2024

Absolutely loved this resort. Our room 1444, over looked the main pool and had a view of the ocean. Breaking down the room number, 14 is the building, 4 refers to 4th floor, and fourth back from water. Rainfall shower, comfortable bed and large sitting room and balcony. As preferred guests we had access to everything at the 3 resorts…(Dreams, and Sunscape being the other 2.).They are accessed by a walkway that follows the water. Total walk time to furthest resort.. Dreams ..is about 5/6 minutes. We ate at 10 restaurants and loved them all. Since Secrets is no children it was actually fun to go to Sunscape for a bbq or lunch and watch the kids having so much fun. We “ dressed” for every dinner as we enjoy doing so but also to show a respect for the meal and service we would be getting. The Preferred Club was used every day and it was great to have a quiet bar to go to after dinner. Snorkeling right from the beach was excellent. Many beautiful fish were in waist deep water. Free snorkel gear for 2 hours but we brought our own. Walk out on the pier with a little bread and you’ll see tons of fish . The staff is simply amazing. Nelly Baas the concierge made our stay extra special and is so accommodating. The activities staff Maggie. Edgar and Zayra hosted so many activities. Your servers on the beach could be Miguel and Wendy. I could go on and on as there are so many wonderful people ( now friends) working at the resort. Simply put we had an incredible 2 week stay and we will return next winter.
