Basic

Central location with fairly decent rooms kept clean daily by the lovely maids however the hotel itself is extremely dated with a need of a refurb. The baths in both rooms had half the enamel peeling off and when this was mentioned to the reception staff we were told it is what it is !!! Was asked for credit card details on arrival which is normal and told if no damage then full refund given to then be told on departure they would be taking $200 for taxes. This was not mentioned prior. As the staff themselves say It is what it is and ideal if you are on a budget. Not sure i would use again.

Disappointed, and DON'T LIE TO ME

motheringingrace (Franklin, Tennessee) on Apr 12, 2024

My son is a legal adult. He is a professional dancer and travels frequently for work. He had a reservation in his name, but upon check-in, they would not allow him to check in since he was not 21. Thankfully I was with him, and when I asked the desk agent what they would have done had he been on his own, she told me they would have canceled the reservation and turned him out on his own. When I pointed out that he is a legal adult with a reservation, she told me in NYC they are not legal adults until they are 21. This is not true (google it), but even if it were, federal law trumps state law and the legal adult age is 18. How is this okay and not reverse age discrimination? And DON'T LIE TO ME. I said, so you are saying he's "too young" to check in, but yet you'd turn him out on his own to "do what he had to do." Those were her words. He is a professional. He looks like a professional, and he is extremely well spoken and well mannered. If he checks in and causes a problem, then you have grounds to ask him to leave, but if he's an adult, and following the rules, he should be allowed to stay. She also said if they allowed him to check in and something happened, we could sue them. How can we sue them when he's an adult? We can't, and wouldn't, but if we could, you know what I'd be more inclined to sue over? Kicking out my son onto the streets of NYC at night with nowhere to go. Aside from that, we also chose this venue because they were connected to Open Jar Studio where he was working. She told us they had closed the direct access and he would have to walk around the block. Lastly, the entrance, lobby, and hallways ARE well maintained and safe. The room itself, while being told we were given an upgrade due to the unfortunate age situation, had broken blinds and a cracked sink. The ice maker did not work on our floor. Next time we will choose a different hotel.
