This Resort was amazing. We spent August 10-17, as we stepped on to the resort we felt at home. The staff were beyond amazing; by the end of the trip we felt like family. The food and entertainment ????

We had to come back again

We were here again in February - sorry for the delay in writing a new review! This time our daughter cam with us and we had a magical and wonderful time. Our previous trip was last October, and both times we came for a week, but we're planning to return for a fortnight in November. This is our second home now; the staff, the food, the beautiful setting and the air of total luxury and relaxation make this the best resort I have ever stayed in. The Tui rep Durges (sp, sorry) is brilliant, Jesus, Alexandria and Ingrid among others at the bar - I can't wait to find out if Alexandria's baby was a boy or a girl!, Oskar in the restaurant, the lovely front desk staff; all the staff feel like family now - we miss you all and can't wait to come back. I must also add that the rooms are immaculately clean, the gardens beautiful, the food is delicious and varied and if you are thinking of a Caribbean holiday, this is the place to come.

We came for a two week relaxation holiday in what was listed as the rainy season. Don't let that put you off as when it does rain it's usually only a short burst of rain and it's all gone again within minutes. The only problem that this brings is the mosquitos. I'm not sure whether its us soft English that they have a taste for, but we seemed to be more affected by this problem than the French and Spanish groups who were here at the same time. We also got bitten while out on trips so please be prepared. The rain also means that the sea is cloudy and not the crystal clear water that you get at other locations around the island. I found this disappointing as my vision of the Caribbean waters is not what we got. The hotel pool is large and caters for most people with a swim up bar jacuzzi pools and a blow up slide for kids on Saturdays along with lots of other pool activities. There is a large influx of weekenders who tend to be very noisy, so we used the beach pool at the Beach Club around the bay when it got too loud. This has a beautiful infinity pool but not much shade, so it can be easy to get sunburnt there. The hotel was comfortable and the rooms adequate. I would not rate it as five star as the alarm clock and air con did not work properly. After several visits from an engineer we accepted that without moving rooms away from our children we wouldn't get the unit to work any better. The hotel gave us free wifi for the last 6 days of our holiday in compensation. Wifi is only free in the reception area, which to me in a five star listed location is outrageous. On previous holidays in 3/4 star locations in India and Vietnam wifi was free everywhere, even restaurants. These hotels need to catch on because free wifi is expected these days. Unfortunately, like a lot of hotels building maintenance let's it down. The phones in the room are a bit temperamental and the electricity is prone to going off but it soon comes back on again. The garden areas were immaculate and beautifully laid out. It was great to see humming birds around. The pool is in need of some attention as are the balconies, doors and wooden units in the rooms. A combination of heat and moisture is not a good combination for wooden structures. The beach was always clean and has a blue flag award. There are people constantly raking up seaweed and removing large bits of coral from the sea. I would recommend that you take some crocs or beach shoes as it can get quite sore if you tread on them. Entertainment was a let down when compared to other hotels we have visited. They rely on a very small group of people to run it all. Theres everything from volleyball to pool zumba, if you want it. Yefrey never seemed to sleep and always seemed to be involved in the activities. The food could not be faulted and was very tasty, catering for everyone. The three speciality restaurants were a pleasant change and the food was cooked beautifully. Special mention to Claudia who always had a big smile and was very helpful. The bar staff were friendly and Santos and Arturo were lovely. You will have an enjoyable time here, but don't expect five star.

What a wonderful place to enjoy a holiday! From the moment you arrive until the last minute you leave this hotel shows it cares about its guests. A welcome drink, a friendly and swiftly check-in. If you need something, just ask. They will do the utmost to help you out. We got the rooms we asked for (in a quiet part, top floor and interleading). We needed extra linnen for the sofa bed? It was in our room in a wink! The aircon broke down. A single phone call and fixed a few minutes. And a phone-call from reception with apologies for the inconvenience and to ask whether it was working again. Good food (try the fish restaurant!), spacious rooms, great beach (we did not spend one second near the pool), warm sea (not turquoise but still blue enough for us), beautiful gardens. And yes, it would be nice to have free wifi throughout the whole resort. But that did not bother us. We had a wonderful holiday!
