    Great for families, VERY ACCOMMODATING for food allergies, most gorgeous beach ever

    ***we traveled during the start of the CoronaVirus pandemic and I am unsure if our experience would have been the same if this was not going on*** Dreams Tulum is on the most gorgeous beach I have ever been too. Water shoes are needed in more rocky areas. Walk with the water on your left for a beautiful view. Food allergies were greatly accommodated but please first find the Restaurant Manager Daniel as he will help you navigate food options and always will go out of his way to prepare a la carte dishes at the World Cafe Buffet (even for those without allergies at my table). Irma is also amazing remembering how you take your coffee, asking your name, and always greeted us with a large smile. Luis is also a great contact in the restaurants. Coco cafe had gluten free and dairy free cookies too! I could not ask for more. To my surprise my family was better taken care of at the World Cafe buffet than the al la carte Portafino (disgusting food options here) and Seaside Grill (I was actually given food that contained something I was allergic to). The teppanyaki was also extremely accommodating and surprised me with their creativity. (We never experienced El Patio menu, The Bistro, Sushi, Pan Asian, or the Smoothie shop due to all restaurants not operating. Nor did we the kids experience the Kids Club which was closed during posted open hours.) There are 2 downsides to this hotel - one is the lack of communication between staff. Many restaurants were closed and events cancelled due to Coronavirus/low occupancy. Depending on which staff you asked, a different answer would be given. The iPads in the room were NOT updated with these changes, nor was the central calendar located by the central bar/patio. ( this may have been in part due to the coronavirus) but it was inconsistent to say the least. Restaurants would be closed when advertised open, and vice versa. The biggest downside is the HARD, HARD sell on the vacation package. We said NO 3 times (twice in person, once on a phone call, and also a postcard was left at our room). They push really hard. We said we were not interested in a time share, we were told they had no idea what a time share is and had no idea what we were talking about. After checking in the hotel staff literally turns you over to the vacation package reps and make it seem like part of check-in. I think a hotel of this level should NOT be doing this as a common practice. We had a bad experience during check in (we were offered upgraded room rates and depending on whom we spoke to the rates were vastly different). A staff member came over to us when they realized how upset we were and we almost were tricked into believeing it was management coming to talk to us. Instead it was the time share employees again offering us free services (which we thought was due to bad checkin experience) and nope it was the hard sell again. SO stay clear of them and be firm. Enjoy the activities pool, amazing beach and the great food (just find Daniel first). Before we found him our food was less than lackluster. This hotel has exceptional service once you find the amazing staff Irma, Daniel and Luis. Also the shows at night are pretty great! Despite the bad experience at checkin and vacation package ridiculousness we still recommend Dreams Tulum as the rest of it is AMAZING.

    Resort SCAM - Unlimited Vacation Club with Lifestyle Collections - Vacation Package

    My wife and I got married at this resort June of 2019. Overall our wedding experience was great and I want to thank everybody that made it a special day. This review is a WARNING! Upon arriving at the resort they will not handover the keys right away, they are going to attempt to sell you on a VACATION PACKAGE. They will ask you to meet up the following day. Please do not! They will tell you it will only take 2-4 hours of your time, it won't, they will waste a whole day trying to sell you a vacation package. They will offer you bonus money for the resort. You will barely be able to use it! Unfortunately, my parents were scammed into a 15k vacation package. We haven't been able to use it because they up charge every vacation. My parents have 3k worth of credits which they were told they could use the whole amount, you can't. Right now I am comparing the same cruise on carnival vs the Unlimited vacation club with lifestyle collection website and the cruise is up charged by almost $422 and they are graciously giving $390 credit of the 3k they have. This is one example of many! The vacation package is so worthless we can even use it compared to what you can get it elsewhere. Don't trust them when they say lowest price guaranteed, they are lying. They will lie, lie, and lie some more until you fold. They have zero proof of what they can actually offer you. The food is also horrible, it's all ameicanized cheap food. Sushi was descent. Italian restaurant was a joke. They only time food was amazing was on Wednesday when they brought in outside vendors for the Mexican fiesta. Even there Mexican restaurant was a joke, tasted cheap. I will never return to this resort or advise anyone else to book solely on how they run a scam business within the resort.

    If you don't mind people smoking next to your kids or anywhere else in the resort then this is great place to vacation, Clean, friendly, well maintained, great service and the beach walks are awesome.

    A lovely resort and a relaxing stay in early March 2020. A lot of thought has gone into the design of the resort.....we particularly liked the gardens and the lighting scheme which made the walk home after dinner and a few drinks very pleasurable. The staff at this resort are excellent and we felt very well looked after. The themed restaurants were good and we liked the no reservation policy for tables. The bar staff were always pleasant and were very efficient. We only encountered a few negatives which included a very noisy group of guests in the quiet garden room area of the hotel for the last 3 nights of our stay.....getting woken up at 3am for an hour or so for 3 days in a row by these selfish people after they returned presumably from the disco rather spoiled the last 3 days of our holiday but the first 7 days were fine. Our room was also not cleaned on our first day but after this initial hiccup things improved. But overall an excellent stay and it was great swimming in the sea......well done to the folks who cleared the seaweed off the beach each day and kept the swimming pool areas so clean.

    Great staff, especially for a challenging time

    We had a great time at Dreams Tulum, we visited just as the covid-19 pandemic was kicking off and the resort was a little quiet. Our stay however was still great! Our room was big, with a great bathroom and was kept clean by our housekeeping person Valerio. Everything worked and the view wad great, we did hear a little noise from our neighbours but they left on day 2 so it wasn't a problem for us. The food was fine, as vegetarians we found a couple of the restaurants didn't have much choice for us, but our favourite was the world cafe anyway which had plenty of choice. So again, it wasn't really a problem at all :-) The staff in the world cafe were exceptional, always remembering our names & faces, I wish I could remember 2 ladies names especially as they were great. We did the tequila tasting with Cesar which was great (we then did it again as a group with Tomas haha!), we ended up buying 2 bottles! Originally the bottle we wanted was out of stock but Daniel (a restaurant manager) kindly went out of his way to find one for us. Isobel from the spa was great fun and we saw her every day around the resort and she always made an effort to come and say hello & see if we needed anything. Ricki and Nick from the entertainment team were also super fun & made us feel like we were good friends. I hope these challenging times during the pandemic will be over soon and the tourists will return to this wonderful resort as soon as possible! The staff there deserve all the thanks :-)
