We were so impressed by this hotel and its wonderful staff !! My wife and I have been to several Caribbean islands but this was our first time in St.Lucia and also the first resort we'd stayed at that wasn't on the beach, so we were a bit unsure how we would like it. We stayed there for 10 nights on an all-inclusive package. The hotel itself is about an hour's drive from the airport which is at the other end of the island, and is on quite a steep hill overlooking the harbour of the main town of Castries. It is nicely presented from the outside and as soon as we arrived we were greeted with a genuinely warm welcome by the lovely Danielle in reception, and by Dean the general manager who even took our suitcases to our room himself ! We were allocated a garden bungalow which didn't have any view to speak of but which was clean, tidy and comfortable with a large king size bed, and which afforded easy access to the upper swimming pool and main building. While we were staying the hotel was at about 50% occupancy and so it never felt crowded and often we were one of only two or three couples around the pool. The food was of a really high standard - plenty of choice and mainly buffet style, although you can opt for fine dining in the Hummingbird Restaurant in the evenings. We stayed with the buffet option throughout our trip as you get to sit out on the verandah with lovely views of Castries harbour, particularly in the evening. Each Thursday there is a barbecue evening at the upper pool, where traditional Caribbean entertainment is laid on (fire eating, limbo dancing, local dancers, etc). Once again the food is top notch with plenty of choice either from the buffet or freshly cooked (and delicious) steak, pork, chicken and ribs. What we remember most about Bel Jou, however, are the genuinely lovely staff who really were happy to see you every morning and always greeted you with a friendly smile - you just got the impression they were all so proud of their hotel. Those who particularly stood out were Danielle (reception), Cecile and Samantha (breakfast), Joffri (entertainment/water aerobics), Andrea and Ivanea (restaurant), Brandon and Jason (Lulu's Cabana) and Sebastian (maintenance). If you are planning a trip to St. Lucia we can definitely recommend this hotel - it may not be right on the beach but it is quiet and peaceful with fantastic staff who can't do enough for you.

Well, where to start? We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived at the Bel Jou, greeted with a smile and a lovely rum punch by Danielle in the air conditioned lounge Check in quick and seamless before being shown to our lovely room which was just as described and as we expected. A perfect view of the main pool, countryside and Caribbean sea in the distance. The room was made up to a lovely standard with towels and beds dressed with local flowers. All exceptionally clean and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food throughout our 10 night stay with a great choice of dishes on offer at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The buffet was always hot and well cooked and you could see that the head chef Alvin and his team cared about what they produced, no more so than when we took in the A La Carte menus!!! This was high quality dining I had experienced at some very highly rated restaurants at home. All praise must go to Alvin and his team in the kitchen, and we were very well looked after by the waiting and bar staff managed by the lovely Andrea. The hotel was looked after impeccably by the maintenance team whilst we were there, constantly looking after the pools, gardens and other communal areas. Drinks quality was good and the bar staff including Brandon, Lindon and Bianca were always friendly and helpful, there were other staff who helped us by the bar but as I'm sure you can imagine it's hard to keep all names in your head and the three above were simply the ones we had more dealings with. We had a fantastic massage by Juilanna in the Spa which i would thoroughly recommend, Entertainment was put on by Jahfree who helped everyone mingle and get in the spirit of things and through his activities we made some amazing new friends from Canada and London! We cannot thank Dean the General Manager enough for instilling customer service and care into his entire staff and the hotel really should be commended! We would definitely stay at the Bel Jou again on our return to this beautiful Island and would not hesitate in recommending the hotel to any of our friends! You will have an amazing time here!!

Me and my husband spent a week in this beautiful hotel. I can’t rate it enough. The staff were friendly and what I loved the most they felt like part of our holiday, they danced and sang!! Just amazing. The hotel was lovely and clean. Food AMAZING!! Breakfast, lunch and dinner could not have been better and the view while eating is stunning. Drinks were lovely and loved the self serving bar by the lower pool. The only thing that spoilt the hotel was a couple of young people who clearly didn’t read the reviews before booking. It is not an 18-30s hotel. If you want peace, calm and relaxation this is the perfect place. Plenty of trips if you want to do something and the hotel has a bus that will take you to the beach or into the harbour. The only improvement I could recommend is put some information in the rooms letting people know what days things are happening. We went to the meet and greet with the hotel staff but not until the end of our stay because we didn’t know it was on. Thank you all for a perfect stay we really did love you all and had the most amazing time.

We were well received and stayed in the newly renovated bungalows, clean & well equipped. Pools are clear and clean.  Plenty of towels when needed at Lulu's cabana right beside the nummy Coffee Shop. This, our 16th visit to St.Lucia.  Food and service were excellent and my wife is a picky eater.  Do try the Chef's table on Friday nights. Chef Alvin puts on a great show. Afterwards enjoy the wonderful views of Castries, even Martinique in the distance. Birthdays and other special anniversaries don't go unnoticed, staff signing "Happy Birthday" at the restaurant, and some lucky people even getting abirthday cake!   The grounds are very well kept with flowers, plants, fruit trees.  We never get tired of seeing all the hummingbirds and butterflies going from flower to flower.  The Bel Jou offers a convenient free shuttle service into town or, for a few dollars, you can go into Rodney Bay.  Bel Jou offers excursions directly like the drive-in volcano & botanical gardens, Pigeon Island etc. There are just too many staff members to thank; all amazing , friendly and most attentive.  The General Manager, Mr.Dean Laforce,  is to be commended for the work he does operating 7 days a week 24 hours a day so efficiently.  Thank you very much for a very memorable vacation sir. We look forward to returning to the Bel Jou one day "very soon"
