Rated 5 star but more of a 3-4 star resort

Anthony H (Allendale, Michigan) on Nov 08, 2025

Me and my husband decided to try out a Sandals resort for the first time. We decided on Sandals Grenada, as it was one of the top-rated Sandals resort. Unfortunately, for the price we paid we do not think it was worth it. Check-in: they include a free shuttle with other couples to the resort. It is close to the airport- only about a 5 min drive. The airport is very small and had a long line to get through customs. The shuttle was timely and got us to the resort quickly. We booked the Pink Gin Beachfront Walkout Club Level Room with Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub. We had the club level room, so we were able to check in the club lounge and then we were quickly taken to our room. Room: Pink Gin Beachfront Walkout Club Level Room with Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub. When we first saw our room (1103), we were unhappy. The view was nothing like it was in the pictures. We were not beachfront-- we were more facing the pool. There was also dirty coffee stains on the floor. For a 5 star resort, I am surprised that the room was not spotless. We ended up complaining about the room. They told us they were booked that day, but they could get us a more beachfront room the next day. We were given a new room the next day around 3pm. This was room number 1112. This room was beachfront. The rooms that are beachfront are 1111-1117. For the price, the rooms 1101-1110 should not be the same price as the beachfront rooms. The pictures are deceiving when put in one of these lower number rooms. Overall, I did not feel like it was a 5 star room. It felt very old and in need of some updating. The room still had a good view. Cleaning service was daily and nightly. Staff: The staff was very nice. We particularly enjoyed the staff at the bar in the living room and the swim-up bar staff. Jafeth at the swim-up bar made sure that we always had a drink in hand. The staff at the living room was also very fast at getting drinks and during entertainment they were good at asking if you needed drinks and brought them to you. We also seen staff getting drinks for people laying on the beach. We felt as though the staff at the concierge lounge was very slow. When we would ask questions, they would never get back to us. We would have to keep bugging them to find the answers. They told us they would let us know when our room was ready- however we are the ones that went to the lounge at 3pm the 2nd day to find out the status of the room and that is when they told us it was ready. We also had to bug them to give us restaurant reservations. We did not feel as if the club level room was worth it. We did use room service 2 times and it took about 45 minutes for the food. We only took a few waters from the mini bar. Entertainment: We felt as if the entertainment was lacking. Most of the entertainment was either singing or playing instruments. They didn't have any real great shows. On Monday night, they had a 30 min fire show, however we had seen this plenty of times before. They did also have 2 silent parties. We aren't too much into that scene. There was also a karoke night. Food & Drinks- The food was average to good. We liked the food at the sushi restaurant and Butch's. The steak at Butch's was kind of dry. You only need reservations for the hibachi and Butch's restaurant. We had no problem getting in any other restaurant. The food usually took about 45 min to get to us. The drinks were great. I don't think they were watered down at all. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We met some cool couples from the U.S. However, we do not think the stay was worth the price tag. Even walking into the resort, I was expecting a big lobby that looked 5 star. It just did not give that vibe to me. I have stayed at a lot of 5 star resorts and I think I could find a better place for my money. I don't think I would stay at a Sandals resort just based on this. The best part of the trip was the staff. The food and drink would be a close second. However, the overall look and price is what would not make me come back.

Perfect honeymoon

Rachael R (Marlton, New Jersey) on Nov 07, 2025

Had such a great honeymoon at Sandals Grenada! The resort is beautiful.. the beach area is perfect- the water is beautiful, there are plenty of chairs/umbrellas, and there is awesome drink service to the beach. The food at the resort was great- so many options and great experiences. The service was absolutely outstanding- Javon (cocktail server) was amazing and kept the drinks coming to us all day on the beach! Kenley at the front desk was so welcoming and helpful throughout our trip! Terrell at the pool bar kept everyone energized! So thankful to the staff here for such an amazing honeymoon!

It just gets better every time!

Jessica D (Rochester, New Hampshire) on Nov 06, 2025

We have just returned home from our second trip to Sandals Grenada and my heart is so happy. I feel compelled to share our experiences and give some shout outs. The staff here consistently goes above and beyond to accommodate their guests. Renisha was our waitress at Soy on Monday night. She certainly knows how to make her guests feel welcome. She was eager to answer questions and even suggested some sushi for us. The next day, she was working the party pool and we continued our conversation. She was just so sweet and kind. We did head back to Soy on Tuesday night and she immediately greeted me with a big hug. That hug was perfectly timed, I had just learned they moved my grandmother to hospice care and was not expected to survive. Renisha giving me a hug was the support I needed in that moment, and she didn’t even know. Terel was our waiter at Cucina Romano for dinner. I had just learned my grandmother had passed away and he helped me honor her by getting me a glass of her favorite kind of wine so I could toast her. His empathy in that moment was healing and I’m so thankful for a smile and kind word. Emelyn and I shared some good laughs one morning at breakfast. It was clear I was not quite awake yet and she helped me get there and even brought me an iced coffee. We spoke with her about Sandals and she really took the time to listen to us and answer our questions. She was so proud to work for the company and couldn't speak highly enough about it. Her smile and laugh are so contagious! Nadya at the Red Lane Spa did my hair treatment. She even did a little style pin up for my photos today. My hair even after being brushed out is still so soft and it feels so much better! She took the time to make sure I had full control over what I wanted, but I told her that I trusted her to do whatever she thought would be best. And she did and totally nailed it!! Oh where to begin with Raykella at Butch’s. She was right on top of it! When she heard me tell my husband I was getting hangry (his fault for being out of dress code!) and she expedited our appetizers to us! That was so perfect! She kept the drinks flowing, the food coming and the laughter was the icing on the cake, we laughed and smiled so much with her. Leanna also played a part in clearing dishes and bringing us our drinks. She was very kind and full of smiles. Your photo team… there are no words for them. We were here 18 months ago and I was shocked to find they remembered us! We shared so many laughs with Diron, Sheldon, Marrissa and the whole team. They really made us feel like family and took the time to capture our love story and show our playful side. I cannot say enough about your team. They honestly make you feel like you are the only couple on the whole resort, you are the only couple that matters. Their humor and happiness is more of what the world needs. I believe with more people like them in the world, it would be a brighter place. My husband wanted to make sure to recognize Terrel at the South Seas Pool. He was so attentive to everyone and he always made sure his icebergs never ran dry. For those of you reading this that don't know what an iceberg is, it's a beer topped with a frozen margarita. I’m not sure who our housekeepers were, we never saw them. BUT I wanted to take a moment to recognize them. Our room was always clean, the bed was always turned down and they kept our room well stocked. The heart shaped towel & flower petals last night just made my heart happy. It’s just that little extra touch that makes Grenada feel like our second home. We have been here twice now and each time, we have experienced hardship at home and Grenada has healed my heart. Please extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team. Everyone from the front facing staff to the groundskeepers, security, maintenance staff, chef, line cooks, dishwashers, laundry personnel… they all are part of this intricate, VERY well oiled machine and without any of them, our stay wouldn’t be as magical as it it. So again, thank you. Thank you for everything. Thank you for treating us like family. Your entire staff should be so proud of what they do and the service they provide. We will be back soon!

Great resort on beautiful island with lovely Grenadian hospitality

alistair c (Newbury, United Kingdom) on Nov 05, 2025

The resort is liberally next tk the small airport, not that you would notice though but therefore provides super fast transfers. It is nestled in mountain side and set within some manicured gardens there are three larger blocks and smaller lower level Villas and garden rooms, where we stayed. The room could do with a bit of a refresh but are spacious and clean and sit in the quiet more secluded part of the hotel. We had a walkout room to a close quiet pool, only a short walk to the centre of the hotel and beach area. Lots of good restaurants, on site offering a la carte options the sushi and steak house were our favourites. Party pool had things going on all day but you could get away from this to the main pool or beach. Beach was nicely kept, the loungers were a little close and the water clear and safe for swimming. Great sunsets off the pier each evening. Some memorable staff from our stay who we would like to mention and thank include, Terrell and Mario from bar at the party pool, Kwesi (knowledgable unfortunate Man U footy fan) in the main bar, Kimony and Danya from the entertainment team, and Cleveland from the dive centre. We met a lot of really nice guests and had lots of great conversations which made the whole sandals experience a great one. Thanks all.
