Lovely stay!

We were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed our stay here and the conveniences of staying in Universal lodging. The shuttle buses were frequent and efficient. Our room was spotless. The AC worked great. Other than some happy kids walking by our room, we were never disturbed by any noise from our neighbors. We invested in the refillable resort mug on the first day and did not regret it. As spread out as the hotel was, parking was conveniently located no matter where your room would be stationed. I never like paying for parking but I get it. I think our parking was a total of around $230 for 5 days. The pool area was nice and clean with life guards on duty. We did not use it but there is a poolside bar. Pool towel were readily available so I wouldn't use your own unless you just wanted to. The deepest area of the pool was around 4 feet. I could not believe how fast the elevators were. The small pizzas in the cafe were great at $10 each. My ONLY complaint is that the mattress on my side of the room was sunken on the side next to the night stand. I know everyone, just like I did, sits in that one spot like its a chair. I don't know if the mattress just hadn't been turned or what. My daughter did not have that complaint with her bed. We truly enjoyed our time here and if you are wondering if you should stay in a Universal hotel, the answer is yes. The benefits outweigh staying outside the park. Sidenote, my daughter has stayed at both Universal's and Disney's economically friendly family hotels and was most impressed in all areas with Universal over Disney from everything to housekeeping to room size. There is an Ihop and Walgreens within walking distance. Disney Springs was about a 15 minute drive with traffic. Discovery Cove was about 20 minutes away. There is a Starbucks in the lobby open from 6a-10p.

Check in only took about 5 minutes thankfully and the staff were friendly (just a 1p hold charge at check in). I asked for a high floor with a nice view and I got floor 8 with a view of the epic/ helios hotel. I really loved this resort, it was fresh, clean and so convenient for location, food and transport. I was concerned about noise since it was a value resort but the lobby was always pleasent and on a high floor we had no issue with noisy neighbours. But I would be concerned with a room on the ground floor on the way to the elevators. Having the starbucks in the lobby was a big plus for me (for my morning flat white) and my sister loved the refillable resort mug (about $30 for length of stay) and is now addicted to the minute maid peach drink. At £540 for the week I would definitely stay again. The room was large and felt airy with the big window and tall ceiling. I would reccomend bringing a mirror as there is none by the counter. Location wise you are a short walk/ uber to different restaurants/ attractions. It's a 10 minute ride to the parks but you don't feel as locked in as when your at a disney resorts/ bubble. Buses through out the trip were alway plentiful, either waiting there or arriving in a few minutes. We didnt even have an issue getting a bus at park close. (A nice change to staying at disney resorts in the past). Just a heads up if you have a digital ticket, you can't change it to a physical ticket anymore. But to open park lockers you can just use your hotel key, so bringing a lanyard can be useful. In the past we have usually done disneyworld trips with maybe 1 day at universal. But I think this trip has converted my lotaltys to universal. For me it gives me more thrills and value for my money, I will definitely be back again.
