WestJet Rewards program changes

The announcement was featured in an email sent on June 4, 2021 to Platinum, Gold and Silver members subscribed to promotional email communications.

Top-tier status and benefits will be extended to December 31, 2022 for all current Platinum, Gold and Silver members.

As announced on September 4, 2020, the qualifying period for our program has now changed to calendar year. The qualifying periods for members prior to January 1, 2021 were previously extended to December 31, 2021. All members will start a new qualifying year on January 1, 2022 and will need to meet the regular qualifying spend requirements between January 1 and December 31, 2022 to retain top-tier status for 2023.  

Updates to your tier status, including all unlimited flight benefits—such as free checked bags, access to priority services, unlimited lounge access, upgrade eligibility, etc.—will take place by June 10, 2021.  You will enjoy continuous access to these benefits through to December 31, 2022.

Updates for one-time use vouchers awarded with your tier—such as member or guest lounge vouchers and seat selection vouchers—will take place at the end of 2021 based on your final qualifying spend as of December 31, 2021. One of three scenarios will apply:

1. Members whose status is extended by WestJet but whose qualifying spend is below the normal spend requirement to retain tier status ($3000 for Silver, $5000 for Gold or $8000 for Platinum) will be given an additional 12 months to use their remaining vouchers. The expiry date for all remaining vouchers will be extended to December 31, 2022.  
2. Members whose status is extended by WestJet and whose qualifying spend meets or exceeds the normal spend requirement to retain tier status will be issued a full set of new vouchers, valid until December 31, 2022. Remaining vouchers from 2021 will expire as of December 31, 2021.  
3. Members whose status is extended by WestJet and whose qualifying spend allows them to upgrade to a higher tier during 2021 will automatically receive the applicable one-time use vouchers for the higher tier, valid until December 31, 2022. 

 

Members with eligible companion vouchers scheduled to expire on December 31, 2021, and registered to request an extension by December 28, 2021, will have eligible companion vouchers extended till June 30, 2022. 

Platinum and Gold members may also exchange available companion vouchers for Gift of Gold vouchers that maintain the same expiry date.
