fantastic holiday

bay435 on Apr 07, 2024

We have just returned from our second visit to this brilliant hotel and it certainly did not disappoint. The staff from reception right through to water sports were great and they make the holiday. Great service always with a smile and a laugh apart from one or two exceptions that maybe need to smile a little more. The facilities are excellent giving most people exactly what they need for a great holiday. The food is excellent in both quality and choice. The breakfasts are superb with everything you need in both hot and cold food. The highlight are the " egg ladies ", who will cook you eggs any way you like plus waffles , french toast and pancakes. All done with a chat and a smile. The lunch and evening buffets are excellent in both quality and choice. Hot and cold meats always available , fish , seafood and a comprehensive salad bar. On most buffets there was other option such as pasta, curries , beef chilli, etc. The desserts are good too , mostly cakes and mousses and you can always ask the staff for ice cream to go with them. There is also a hot dessert available. The buffet changes to a la carte on 3 to 4 night per week. The menu is four course comprising of four choices in each section. The food is excellent, well presented and served in a lovely setting. We say you would pay a lot of money for the same meal in a restaurant and may not get the same quality ! If you have a more adventurous pallet Enid's restaurant is available six nights per week , serving typically Bajan cuisine. Again the quality and service is excellent A bonus at lunchtime is the egg ladies switch to cooking hamburgers, hot dogs and sometimes paninis , all cooked to order. We think the burgers are the best we've ever tasted ! Another bonus is a bar menu available most of the day. this includes pizza, steak sandwiches , cub sandwich, nachos etc. The staff will also deliver food to your sunbed Everyone we spoke to during the holiday was of the same opinion saying how good the food was. The drinks package is also excellent with top brand gin, whisky, brandy, bourbon and great local rums and cocktails all mixed to order. The beach bar is the hub through the day, great staff, good music and a lovely atmosphere. In the evening there is entertainment in the main bar which is usually of a pretty good standard. Then if you want a late night the piano bar is open until 2am with a pianist who is a bit zany but very good also dance music in between. All in all another brilliant holiday at the club, thank you so much to Caroline and all her staff. We booked for the same time next year while we were still there!

Hard pass!

If you’re under 50 yo & looking for fun, this is not the place. Seems the average age was over 60yo. No exciting entertainment. Food in sunset lounge is mediocre, catering to Brits, no flavor. True Americans will not be impressed with the food..The food upstairs in Enids restaurant tastes better, more Carribean style. If you like modern this is not the place. The place is very old & outdated !!

Good hotel if you are not a vegetarian.

GrahamNorthants (Daventry, United Kingdom) on Apr 04, 2024

The hotel is lovely overall but needs a refresh. Rooms are dated and paint peeling etc. In addition, I paid "extra" for a garden view room and I had a view of the toilet block by the main restaurant and bar. However, there was an amazing ocean view if I just turned my head. However, due to the noise from the bar where the toilet block is, we never used our spacious balcony. My main issue was the restaurant. It completely lacks the capacity to cater for vegetarians correctly. For example, on the a la carte menu, they had a "vegetarian" dish, but a parmesan sauce. We asked to speak to the chef as parmesan is made with animal rennet. He confirmed it wasn't a vegetarian dish, even though it had a V on the menu. Oh, and the starter, the soup and the dessert, none was vegetarian on the day. It made me question if they get the menu wrong for a vegetarian, good luck being vegan or even worse, if you have dietry requirements for health reasons. On three separate evenings, we left the restaurant with my wife in tears as she couldn't get a meal. The buffet would serve vegetarian options, rice, french fries, and vegetables, but you can't make a meal with that. I pointed this out at least 5 times to the hotel manager Caroline, and I even mentioned the lunch time pasta wasn't vegetarian. No tomato sauce, just a meat sauce. Even the salad pasta had ham, and on one occassion, two salad pastas. One with ham, one with fish. Others have said this hotel catered for vegetarians, but they are meat eaters and don't realise the lack of ability to create a meal from the vegetarian "options" First week we stayed, most of the beds had towels on by 5am. Crazy. Second week those guests had left the hotel and it was easy to get beds. The staff overall were lovely, even Caroline the hotel manager was trying to accommodate the food issue, but even with her best efforts, she failed. The only staff member we found rude was Caroline who worked in the restaurant. Who argued with my wife about vegetarian food. Would I recommend the hotel? Yes, if you eat meat. I personally enjoyed the food, but my wife couldn't eat there mostly. It is worn, it does need a refresh, but the staff and rooms and the "personality" of the hotel was overall very good.

VERY NICE ALL INCLUSIVE HOLIDAY .

GHarr49768 (Torquay, United Kingdom) on Mar 30, 2024

Meals: Enids and Sunset are open alternate nights and some nights just Sunset is open and they do a buffet. The other nights is a set menu with three choices for each course. We found the waiter served meals lovely. The breakfast also served in Sunset is very good with the Egg Ladies being so friendly. Lunches can be ordered from the bar and eaten in the bar and they are very good indeed. Drinks choices also very good. All waiting staff are lovely and we spoke to Sherry & Carmella who did good. Enids was very nice for a change and quite special as smaller. All waiting staff were attentive even asking me if I wanted a fresh coffee as I had been chatting to a guest. Rooms; The room are nicely furnished with a full working bathroom. Shower was good and toiletries changed when needed. Aircon was very good. Nice big balcony with lie beds and table. A great place to sit out the sun. Beds very comfy and rooms quiet. Staff: We found staff very friendly however some seemed over worked and I felt sorry for them being on for such long hours in high temperatures . Pool: clean and nice to cool off in. Bars: Beach bar was fun and friendly , lounge bar was busy and always got served quickly. Mount gay rum was great. Entertainment : We tended to go to the beach bar for the vibe however the Sunset Bar was good if you like like music. Don't miss the Piano Bar after 11pm. Barman gets into the swing of it and we all ended up dancing to music of our choice. Madonna/YMCA etc. It was a very fun few nights as everyone wants to be your friend. Made our holiday with the guys we met. Beach: no beach unless you want too walk through water or you can walk along the main road to loads on beaches. You need to walk down one of the side roads. Sandy Lane Beach is good but no bed and no shade and no cafe's plus you have to walk through water and also wait for low tide . We went once . A manmade beach at the Club has comfy beds and shade but it's quite busy and sometime at the peak times you can't get a bed. Sunsets at this area are unbelievable. You would pay 10 times more at the next door hotel for the exact same view. Garden are tended well and watch for the monkeys , the water sports area is also very good. Swimming from the hotel area would not be recommended. General: local accent can cause issues. Reception staff can be busy but we sorted everything with them. Small shop for essentials. The people who stayed at The Club are generally extremly friendly if you make the effort. The area: Limegrove Shopping Mall , The Tides Restaurant , Paynes Beach , 360 Island Tour all good. Further out is The Lone Star apparently frequented by Simon Cowell and Rihanna. Very pricey and you need to get a cab but 100% memory created. Things we missed doing : Trying the local restaurants which looked amazing , going on the Yellow buses , Trip to Harrison Caves , Catamaran Cruise. Conclusion: Put the effort in with staff , look at the prices of the neighbouring hotels , don't expect ultimate luxury or staff attending to you every whim , consider the price with what you get and I would give it 10/10 . Your in the most exclusive part of Barbados paying a very reasonable price for what I think is very good service and facilities so what more can you expect.
